6. outer peace (1.5/5)

didn’t like the direction of this album at all… i can’t say there was a song that i really really enjoyed… it was digestible but it felt like a lame attempt at going more mainstream… reminiscent of the weeknd at times if the weeknd wasn’t incredible

5. boo boo (2/5)

there were some good tracks, for instance i sort of liked “don’t try” and even “girl like you”… overall really forgettable though since i felt like most of the tracks sounded pretty similar/the record had a very static vibe throughout the entire thing

4. anything in return (2.5/5)

this album was pretty mid-tier for me… some reaallly cool tracks such as the opener and “studies”… it’s a solid record but the majority of it doesn’t hold up as well as i feel the rest of his discography does

3. underneath the pine (3.5/5)

very solid album first of all… some really incredible tunes on there. i really dug “light black” and “divina”… this album is almost more of the dying breath of his pure chillwave direction than i feel anything in return is, though you could argue that a.i.r does carry over a bit of that direction onto it.

2. what for? (4.5/5)

i know this isn’t a popular opinion but i really really like this record… though it’s going in almost a completely different direction (more indie/alternative oriented), this record is still really strong.. it’s just a very satisfying  record. tracks like “the flight” and “what you want” are very feel-good tracks, and they sound even better on ‘live in trona’ imo

one of my favourite albums of all time. i don’t need to say much… it’s a quintessential album of the genre and it’s far and away his best record. tracks like “minors”, “imprint after”, and “talamak” completely blow me away.
