this is bokuto’s favorite way to be with you.

the two of you are curled up in the bed, bare feet brushing against warm calves, sheets twisted between your bodies. you’re facing him, and the midmorning light streaming through the sheer curtains lights your silhouette up like an angel.

you really are an angel, he thinks. 

his nose is just barely grazing yours, and the brief brush of contact is enough to have him flustered like he’s back in high school. he’s bigger  now, and he’s moved on to bigger and better things than even his imagination could dream up.

but you’re still here. he’s not sure anything could’ve prepared him for the dream that takes the form of his darling.

the flecks in your eyes, the perfect lines of your skin, the lines of your smile all stand out when he’s this close to you, but he’ll never get tired of looking at you; the way your eyes flash in excitement, the tired grin you give him in the mornings, the twitch of your nose when something tickles.

that’s what prompts him, the thought of your cute face all scrunched up in laughter, to blow gently at you. the stream of air, so close to your face, is direct, and it leaves you giggling. his arms wrap around you, strong and grounding, as his nose brushes against yours more firmly now.

a whispered “i love you.” seems to echo more through your mind than in the air, still and quiet like a still frame or a painting. it’s gorgeous, something from a romance novel.

(yes, bo has compared you two to a romance novel. he’s surprisingly well versed in period romances.)

and when he kisses you, he adds another layer to the growing collection stored away in your heart. it’s soft, but insistent. he kisses like he never wants to part from you, and the thought fills your heart to the brim.

lazy mornings, all warm and sleepy, are kind to the two of you.
