Negroni
A delightful classic cocktail, the negroni was legendarily invented when the Italian Count Camillo Negroni demanded that a bartender make him an americano but stronger. The bartender replaced the soda water with gin and the lemon peel with an orange, and the rest is history!
Tumblr media
1 oz gin (Roku)
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth (Dolin)
Stir, then garnish with a twist of orange.
I finally got my hands on a bottle of Campari, so of course, I had to try its most popular cocktail. This drink is so bitter and is definitely an aquired taste. I feel like I will love my third negroni; my first, not so much.
4/10 for now

THIS IS NOW A SUPER JUICE FAN ACCOUNT
Tumblr media
Look how much juice I got out of only three limes! And it really tastes exactly like regular lime juice! I used Kevin Kos' recipe for lime super juice and I can't wait for tonight to see how it fares in a drink.

Sazerac
Hailing from New Orleans, the sazerac is a delightful classic cocktail. It's similar to an old fashioned, but I think infinitely more interesting.
Tumblr media
(Ignore my dirty disorganized bar)
.5 oz simple syrup
1.25 oz Cognac (Hennessy)
1.25 oz Rye (Rittenhouse)
3 dashes Peychauds bitters
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Enough absinthe for a rinse
Rinse a chilled coupe glass with the absinthe and set aside. Stir remaining ingredients with ice until cold, then strain into the glass. Garnish with a lemon peel (I forgor)
You want a drink that'll FUCK you up? Look no further. Maybe I'm just a lightweight, but damn. It's very strong, but absolutely delicious in a way I can't quite find the words for.
8/10

Gin Sour
Can't go wrong with a simple gin sour! It's a cousin of the more popular whiskey sour, but I would say it can be just as good!
Tumblr media
2oz gin (Burnett London Dry)
.75oz lemon juice
.5oz 2:1 simple
1 egg white
Dry shake for about 10 seconds, then add ice and shake again. Double strain into a rocks glass (or, in this case, a handy nick and nora). Garnish with a few drops of angostura bitters.
A very refreshing and approachable drink! The bitters lend it a lovely aroma and the thick foam created by the egg white lets you have fun with the decoration. The texture is nice and smooth thanks to the egg white, and the flavor is delicious. It's not very complex, but it's very drinkable.

The Paper Goat
Our first drink is a spin on a Paper Plane, which is itself a spin on a Last Word.
Tumblr media
.75oz lemon juice
.75oz rum (Angostura 7 year)
.75oz Aperol
.75oz Stambecco maraschino amaro
Shake and double strain into a coupe and garnish with a lemon twist.
This drink is delightful! The bitter cherry of the amaro pairs beautifully with the tart citrus in the aperol and, of course, the lemon. The rum isn't quite as present as I had hoped, which is a shame because I do like this rum, but you do still get a bit of the flavor so it's not a waste. Might try using lime instead of lemon next time.
Overall I give this one a 7/10
