i dont know who needs to hear this but as a general PSA for those who pay people online for goods and services: KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE BUYING. While it might seem funny to write a clever note along with your transaction, any sort of hint that you're buying something nsfw or even mildly suggestive poses a huge risk that the person you're paying is getting their method of payment shut down permanently. transaction services are stricter than ever. "thanks for the boobs" is a pipe bomb that only needs one pair of eyes to be noticed. loose lips sink ships

GUMROAD IS BANNING NSFW CONTENT IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, so I might as well.

They've updated their content policy to comply with payment processor Stripe and Paypal's censorhip. They gave 24 hours. On March 16th 2024, Gumroad TOS will no longer allows sales of any written or drawn nsfw content.

This is going to hurt for so many creators. Giving that little time leaves people's source of income wildly unstable, especially with such a huge overhaul of what content is allowed.

I hate this. I hate what censorship is turning the internet into. I hate that nsfw content creators keeo getting pushed to the fringes, that they need to digitally migrate so often, because nowhere can be trusted to allow their art for long.

I don't know what to do next, there isn't some sort of "here's what you can do to help!" People just deserve to know.

The Queerest Place On The Internet.

I don't usually draw stuff, I'm sure someone else could have done this better than me, hell someone else might have had this idea already and done it or something similar. But I couldn't get this out of my head today.

I've seen so many of my friends, mutuals, and artists I follow on here get censored just for existing. For the crime of being openly transfem on this website. At best, many of them have had their blogs permanently marked explicit. At worst, some have had their accounts terminated completely with no hope of being restored.

Tumblr is the loudest and proudest LGBTQ+ website on the internet, as long as you don't dare bring up the T.

I'm not going to back down though. I'm going to continue being happy, being proud of myself and my friends. My loved ones. No matter what happens here, they can't take trans joy away from me.

I don't often make personal posts like this and I especially don't often tempt staff's itchy trigger finger for banning transfems, but this post is worth it. It's something that I needed to say.

CEO of Tumblr, Matt Mullenweg, has started openly harassing tumblr users on other platforms. This dude is actually incredibly scary and malicious and should not be involved with this website going forward. Theres just no excuse for this behavior.

for those wondering "why new york?" in the USA companies must be sued and are primarily beholden to the laws of the state where they are based automatic and tumblr HQ is based in new york and so we Must sue them in new york to sue them at all*

for those saying "but i dont live in new york or the USA is that a problem?" No that is actually part of why the ACLU and its various affiliates exist the way they do! they can sue on your behalf for civil rights violations no matter what state or country you come from, and especially when it comes to data regarding a Lawsuit That Already Concluded. "help im not usamerican what the hell does out of court settlement mean" out of court settlement is a legal process where a company can refuse to admit Guilt, but say "you have something of a point and i want this lawsuit to end" it usually comes with Specific Terms And conditions including but not limited to: financial reembursements banned behaviors required behaviors public service announcements etc. tumblr was sued by ACLU NY to say that discrimination was happening. they settled out of court under the condition that they would rework their moderation system to ACTIVELY prevent discrimination. if you have data that indicates weakly or strongly that that has not happened it is somewhat your civic duty* to send that data to @NYCLU by whatever method is most convenient to you. that @ is a convenient link to their twitter

*not strictly true but when you're talking about a website with no other physical locations its best to think of it this way
