So I'd made it! My bike had carried me 3947 km from Calais to Istanbul, all the way across Europe, through 10 countries (France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey) in 6 weeks 6 days. The end of a great adventure! Now I can have a few days as a tourist in Istanbul !

There were lots of traffic jams as I made my way to the left and then up the hill to the Pege hotel.

Finally this brought me to the Galata Bridge where I could cross the Golden Horn into old Istanbul. See all the fishing rods on the bridge !

I met 2 Turkish cyclists and cycled with them along the coast road, passing other enormous bridges across the Bosphorus.

The European coast road is quite nice. The traffic is not too bad and it passes through some beautiful areas, so I decided there was no need to cross over to the Asian side.

I could see the huge Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge where the Bosphorus flows NE into the Black Sea.

And then I was there! I arrived at the Bosphorus where I could look across to the Asian shore. I had cycled from the English Channel to the Bosphorus, the edge of Europe!

From there it was all downhill, which led me to a beautiful avenue of trees.

At Kemerburgaz I could rejoin my original route of the day. It took me through beautiful woods that led to a T-junction by Istanbul University sports ground.
