The Incas, the Aztecs, the Mayans, all dark-skinned Indian people, had a highly developed culture here in America, in what is now Mexico and northern South America. These people had mastered agriculture at the time when European white people were still living in mud huts and eating weeds. But white children, or black children, or grown-ups here today in America don’t get to read this in the average books they are exposed to.
In front of my mother and my sisters,
I pretend love is cheap and vulgar.
I act like it’s a sin–
I pretend that love is for women on a dark path.
But at night i dream of a love so heavy
it makes my spine throb.–
I dream up a lover who makes love like he is separating salt from water.
have you ever been insecure about your nose? did you have second thoughts getting a piercing (which btw looks bomb on you). I have a very regular nose (from the front) but from my profile is is a little bit too pointy and straight. I don't LOVE my nose, I KNOW it's not the "prettiest" compared to others. but that's okay w me. I really want a piercing I just don't know how to grow the courage to do it. people have told me not to get it and which made me insecure
i fucking hate my nose i hate it if i had money i would get it done. i feel uncomfortable some times but I AM LEARNING TO LOVE IT. You should too! nd as far as what people say you should do with your nose, fuck them other people should never be a factor in what you do with your body. GET THHAT NOSE PIERCED GIRL!
“We talk about marginalization and oppression as a very specific thing [at The Body is Not an Apology] - we call it Body Terrorism. And we call it Body Terrorism very intentionally. Because the reality is: to wake up every day wondering whether or not if I call a suicide hotline, the police are going to come and kill me, is an act of terrorism on someone’s body. To go to a hospital and not be certain that you are going to get the care that you need for your autoimmune disease because your physician has a bias as to whether you’re fat, or you’re a person of color, or you’re trans, is a terroristic society to live in.”
- Sonya Renee Taylor, speaking at the White House Forum on LGBTQ and Disability Issues
