The Manson Family Murders
Welcome back my fellow off-my-rocker friends —
This week I’m going to be covering the infamous Charlie Manson. For those of you that are familiar with this story know this one is kind of a doozy. For those of you that are not familiar with this story. Charles Mansion was convicted of first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder of seven people. Yes I mean “directing” the deaths of multiple victims. This man somehow manipulated four of his so called “family” followers into killing machines.
Before we dived head first into this psychedelic trip let’s talk a little bit about Manson’s childhood. Manson was born November 12th 1934. His mother Kathleen Maddox, give birthright him at 16 years old. His mother at the time seemed to want no part in playing the role of a mother as she was an alcoholic working as a prostitute. There was no father figure for Charles until Kathleen later married William Manson. This match was a not so sweet one, as the couple were both in and out of jail on burglary, theft, and among other charges. This is the life Charles was used to having been around careless “ role models “ all of his life, and a mother who rejected her only child. Charlie was sent to a boys school by the time he was 12, and was in and out of correctional facilities most of his adolescent life due to petty crimes.
In the 1960’s Manson was living in Los Angeles stumbling upon a place called Spahn Ranch. He lived on this ranch with many, mostly young runaway young girls living the hippie life style. There were about 100 of these people living on the ranch together and were known as “The Family”, all who had a wild desire for hallucinogenic drugs. It is said Manson showed cult like personality traits becoming very obsessive and fixated on certain events. For example he was obsessed with the Beatles and believed some of their songs were “speaking” to him. The Beatles song, Helter Skelter became the initial focal points to one of Charlie’s prophecies, claiming a racial war would soon be underway. Manson also claimed he was Jesus and would rant about his recollection/conspiracies. These young impressionable souls would actually believe him, even though it was the drugs talkings more then likely. This is how he was able to direct the murders of Steven Parent, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Wojtek Frykowski, and lastly Sharon Tate who was eight and a half months pregnant at the time of the murder. These are the Manson family cult murder victims.
It was August of 1969 when Manson persuaded a handful of his followers to initiate “Helter Skelter”. Which was a plot to commit a series of murders with the intent to make the crimes look racially motivated. Manson also instructed the family members to, “leave a sign— something witchy”. It was on August 8th and 9th that “The Family” carried out the Tate and LaBianca murders. On the night of the 8th Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel carried out multiple murders at the Tate house. The first victim was Steven Parent who just happened to be over at the Tate house visiting with the property’s caretaker was caught leaving the house by Tex Watson. Watson murdered the first victim with four bullets to the chest and abdomen using a 22 caliber revolver. Watson, Atkins, and Krenwinkle then broke into the house to the alarming surprise of Frykowski who was disturbed while sleeping on the couch. Atkins and Krenwinkel scoured he rest of the house waking the rest of the sleeping persons in the house, directing them into the living room to join Watson and Frykowski. The three proceeded to tie up the victims, all while Sebring was protesting the brutal rough treatment of the eight month pregnant Tate. Watson had enough of the protesting and decided to then shoot Sebring and proceeded to stab the corps. Meanwhile Folger was taken to back to the bedroom to fetch her purse which held a small amount of cash the intruders were ranting for. Next Frykowski managed to free his hand which were bound by towels; not a very smart way to bind someone’s hands. Atkins and Frykowski began to struggle. Somehow Atkins managed to stab Frykowski in the leg. While following him out the door and onto the front porch. Where Watson then struck Frykowski over the head repeatedly with the butt end of the pistol, then proceed to stab him repeatedly, and ending with two gun shot wounds. Back inside Folger had managed to escape being held captive, high tailing her way out of a bedroom door making a B-line for the pool area. Krenwinkel cased Folger down tackling her her to the ground and also started to stab her, with the help of fellow family member Tex. It was reported Folger was stabbed 28 times. Meanwhile Frykowski, surprisingly still alive at this point, was struggling to make his way across the lawn. Watson hunkered over him to finish the job with a final round of fatal stabbing. Ultimately Frykowski suffered a total of 51 stab wounds, 13 blows to the head, and 2 gun shot wounds. All the while Sharon Tate was still inside the house. Tate pleated for the mercy of her unborn child but the intruders wouldn’t hear any of it. Atkins and Watson began stabbing Tate so violently ultimately severing one of her breasts. Tate was stabbed 16 times, 5 of which presumed to be fatal killing her and her unborn child. Finally Atkins wrote the word “pig” on the front door in Tate’s blood.
After the Tate house murders the following night, Manson took the four murderers plus Leslie Van Houten and Clem Grogan for a drive. Engaged about the previous nights events, Manson decided to show these family members how it should be done. After contemplating multiple murder decisions, they ended up at the home of Rosemary and Leno LaBianca. Manson and Watson entered the house through an unlocked back door. Aroused, Rosemary and Leno were taken into the living room. Manson instructed Watson to tied the victims up and place pillowcases over there heads. Manson then left the house instructing Krenwrinkel and Van Houten inside. At some point Rosemary was sent back to the bedroom. Watson returned to living room and began stabbing Leno with a chrome plated bayonet. Back in the bedroom Rosemary was fighting of her attacker when Watson intervened, stabbing her several times with the bayonet. Next Watson headed back to the living room and continued stabbing Leno a total of 12 times and cared the word “war” on his stomach. Meanwhile in the bedroom Krenwrinkle was found by Watson stabbing Rosemary with a knife from the LaBianca kitchen. Watson then following instructions given by Manson, instructed Van Houten to join in the stabbing. Reports state Van Houten stabbed Rosemary 16 times in the back. 41 of Rosemary’s stab wounds were reported as postmortem. Krenwrinkle proceeded to stab Leno 14 times with a carving fork, leaving the fork in his stomach and a knife lodged in his throat. Before leaving the LaBianca house Krenwinkle wrote “rise”, “death to pigs”, and “Helter Skelter” in blood on the refrigerator door.
Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwrinkle, Leslie Van Houten, Tex Watson, and Charles Manson were all sentenced to life in prison.
If you would like to hear Ash and Alaina tell the story of Charles Manson, I’ll post the links below. They tell the story in two parts so be sure you listen to part 1 first, or you’ll be totally lost.
Like the girls always say, “keep it weird”.

The Mysterious Death of Elisa Lam
Hi my off the wall friends —
This week we are going to be discussing the mysterious death of Elisa Lam. Elisa’s death in 2013 was a widespread mystery across the nation. To this day the entire truth about Elisa’s murder are unknown. Ash and Alaina will discuss a few theories potentially explaining her mysterious murder. I won’t cover all of them but if you’d like to listen to them I will post a link to the podcast episode at the end.
For those of you that don’t know, Elisa Lam was a 21 year old presumably student at the University of British Columbia, located in Canada where her parents migrated to. Elisa decided she wanted to tour the west coast of the United State which is exactly what she did, except her tour didn’t last very long. Alone, and headed to Los Angeles California, where she checked in but never checked out of the Cecil Hotel
Side note— If your unaware the Cecil Hotel was known to be a very dark place where tragic things were known to happen. The hotel is located on skid row which if you’ve heard of it, you know this is not a road you want to be just hanging out on especially alone.
Elisa checked into the hotel on January 26th 2013. She was staying in a shared room, presumably since those rooms were more affordable than private rooms. Not long into her stay, she was relocated to a private room after complaints made by other bunk mates about Lam’s “odd behavior”. Known to have been struggling with mental health issues. Prescribed a couple of different medications to help stabilize her mental health, it’s believed that Lam either stopped taking such medication or wasn’t taking their medications properly in the few days leading up to her death. On e of the known side effects from improper usage of the medications Lam was known to have been taking can cause extreme hallucinations, possibly explaining the odd behavior reported earlier by fellow bunk mates.
Elisa Lam was last seen January 31st at the hotel. Parents, David and Yinna Lam were in contact with there daughter daily up until the day she was last seen. Once David and Yinna lost contact with Elisa they immediately knew something was wrong so they flew out to LA to the hotel where Elisa was staying and notified police. The police searched the entire hotel but there was no sign of Elisa. Investigators looked into Lams social media finding evidence of posts made on her Tumbler dating after she had been reported missing, odd right? Police checked the surveillance footage of the hotel which never shows Lam ever leaving the hotel. However, there was the infamous elevator video recording of Elisa acting somewhat bizarre, as she kept peaking in and out of the elevator door, which by the way never closed for some strange reason. Another clip does show her pressing a number of buttons in somewhat of a panic then eventually getting off the elevator looking to be speaking to someone in the hall, or maybe not. Lam never returned to the elevator which was stopped at the 14th floor of the Cecil hotel.
Days had gone by, and still no sign of Elisa. Guests of the hotel started complaining about the water pressure being very weak and some even complained about discoloration in the water as well. Maintenance worker, Santiago Lopez was asked to look into the issue. Lopez then headed up to the 14th floor, disarming the alarm on the door leading to the roof, and headed up a flight of stairs. Once on the roof he peered into the water tank to his surprise discovering a body. Minding the roof had been searched previous, even with police k-9’s but the inside of the water tank was never checked initially. After the discovery of the body in the water tank, the body was identified as that of the missing Elisa Lam.
Many concerns arose during the time the investigation took place. For instance, Elisa’s phone was never found. There’s a lot of speculation about how she got into the water tank, whether she was found clothed or unclothed, and also if the lid to the water tank tank was open or closed. For this reason I intentionally left those details out. I know many of you are thinking just check the police report, but due to discrepancies in the investigation, lead to discrepancies in the report. Hence all these speculations about minor details creating an even bigger problem in the case. Like I mentioned earlier, the door leading to the roof was alarmed and needs a key to be disarmed or else if opened alerting the front desk. There is some speculation about Lam possibly using the fire escape located on the outside of a window on the 14th floor. This could have been a possibly since, according to police reports, the dogs alerted the police at the window leading to the fire escape.
The main question still remains, how exactly did Elisa’s body come to be in the water tank on the roof and was she murdered?

The Murder of Madeline McCann
Welcome back my off the wall readers! —
How is everyone doing this week? Is everyone ready for July 4th? I know I am. I’m going to the beach which I haven’t been on a beach vacation in, I can’t even tell y’all how long.
The story I’m going to be covering today is one cover my one of my other favorite podcast shows called Crime Junkies with host Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. The first time I listen to Ashley and Brit tell the story of the young Madeline I was not prepared. Some of you might actually be familiar with this story, let’s dive into this true crime mystery.
May of 2007 a family of 5 was vacationing at a beach side resort in Portugal, when 3-year-old Madeline McCann went missing. Parents, Gerry and Kate McCann had been out to eat with seven other adults at a restaurant in the resort the night their daughter was abducted. In the events leading up to the time Gerry and Kate noticed Madeline was missing , they would take turns going back to the apartment to check on the children. Leaving the patio door unlock, the parents would pop back inside to check to make sure none of the children were crying or awake. The final time Kate went to check on the children she noticed the bedroom door was widely ajar unlike the way she left it. When she proceeded to close the door a gust of wind slammed the door shut, knowing she didn’t leave the window open that’s when she noticed Madeline was not in her bed. Kate frantically searched the apartment thinking maybe she got up for a snack or to use the bathroom but there was no sign of her.
Kate alerted Gerry and the rest of the parents and even some of the resort staff members who then all proceeded to search for Madeline. The next day following the long nights search for Madeline, Kate and Gerry speak to the media about their missing child for the first time pleading for any information on her whereabouts. Jane Tanner, One of the other parents speaks out to tell police about a strange encounter. She noticed a man wearing a large coat carrying a child away from the resort around the time of Madelines disappearance. She thought this to be odd since the child was barefoot and the way he was holding the child just didn’t feel right. She was even able to provide specific detail for a sketch of the suspect, which police didn’t use to alert the media to help identify the suspect.
At this point the search continued, even expanding further out. It wasn’t until ten days after Madeline had gone missing that police names there first suspect, Robert Murat. Murat happened to place himself in the investigation helping translate since the family spoke English and were vacationing in Portugal. Also his house is located near the crime scene. Murat was depicted as a suspect, referring back to the statement Ms. Tanner had giving about the man carrying the child away from the resort, in the direct of Robert Murat house. After a pressing interview no arrest was made, and at this time things begin to fall off. No leads were being found, no new information, not much is being said by anyone.
Three months later following Madeline’s disappearance, police decide to bring cadaver dogs back to the resort apartment the McCan stayed in and search the rental car they used to get around while on holiday in Portugal. Other tourist had been in and out of the room since the time the McCann’s had been vacationing there, not sure what the police were expecting to find relating to Madeline. After the cadaver dogs alerted there trainers at a closet in the bedroom the parents stay in and also at the trunk of the rental vehicle. There was some speculation that maybe Kate and Gerry had given Madeline a sleeping aid to help her sleep but accidentally gave too much an overdosed, now trying to cover up her murder. This theory quickly left the the lime light, after the McCann’s explained what all they have experienced in an interview session.
For years the case grew cold until one day out of nowhere information about the case surfaced in 2020, about a man named Christian Bruckner. Christian was a known sex offender who travelled between Spain, Portugal, and Germany at the time of Madelines disappearance. Information about Bruckner rose when he was prisoned for sexual assault of and American tourist, which took also took place at the time of Madeline’s disappearance, also in same exact location. German police had been surveilling Christian for quit some time, due to his long criminal history, and where able to connect him to Madelines case, through digital evidence. Reports of Christian admitting to stalking out the McCann family for day and knowing their routine and knowing the patio door would be unlocked, allowed for him to abduct Madeline. To this day the whereabouts of Madeline’s remains still remain unknown.
That is the story of the young Madeline McCann. Stay tuned in for next weeks story!
Thanks readers!

The Coed Killer
Hi my off the wall friends —
Happy Saturday! I hope you all have had a wonderful week! If you haven’t had a wonderful week, well it’s the weekend so it’s time to kick back and relax. Why don’t we just get right down to business, shall we.
So are you ready to find out which serial murder has peaked my interest above all the rest? I’ll give y’all a few clues, now let’s see if you can guess! He’s much larger and taller then your average Joe, peaking at an astonishing height of 6’9 and about 300 pounds. Charming and quite the chatty Kathy, this man has managed to elude the police in Santa Cruz California by befriending them. He was never actually caught until he turned himself in and was only twenty five years old at the time receiving seven life sentences for his crime spree.
If you haven’t guess it by now, it’s the one and only Edmond Kemper. Some of you weirdos, myself included might also know him as “The Coed Killer”.
But, before I just start flooding your brains with a little bit more information on good ole Edmond here and adding in my two sense worth on the subject I highly recommended listening to the Morbid Podcast on our good friend Ed. Ash and Alaina the owners of the Morbid Podcast, will give you the extensive more detailed version of the one coed killer’s messy past. I will post the link to the podcast at the bottom of the page for those of you brave enough to sit around to listen. If you don’t have time to listen to their intriguing story, a brief overview of what Ash and Alaina discuss.
WARNING: Some of these details may be graphic to some readers. Please be advised.
Ed’s story really begins in his adolescent years. His parents divorced at the age of 9. Looking into his past Ed talks about the phycological abuse from his mother. While living with his mother, he was forced to live in the basement by his mother in fear of him causing harm to either of his two sisters. He’s mother Clarnell Kemper, always focus on his large stature, calling him a freak upon other discouraging names. The first signs of trouble became at the age of 10 he buried the family cat alive, then at 13 slaughter another family pet this time with a knife.
After a few years of constant abuse Ed went to go like with his dad whom had remarried with a family of his own. He was almost immediately turned away and was sent back to live with his mother. Then at age 15 Edmond went to go live with his grandparents, which didn’t last very long either. While living with his grandparents, he shot and killed his grandmother during a fit of rage, then shot and killed his grandfather. Following this incident Ed called the police and was handed over to the youth authority. While in their custody he explained the reason for killing his grandparents was Lato see what it felt like.” So, he underwent multiple tests which revealed Kemper was actually suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. Ed was ultimately sent to a maximum security facility for mentally ill convicts where he spend the next six years. Upon his release at the age of 21 he was advised to cut all ties with his mother due to the fact most of he mental issue and fits of rage seemed to fuel from the lack of nurture and love his mother never gave him, but was once again release back into the custody of his reached mother.
After Kemper was released from prison he found a job in the highway department which helped aid him when taking his victims. Kemper was also know to hangout at bar where local police were known to have gone for drinks. Kemper got be very friendly with the local police and would talk to them about the coed killing, not knowing they were actually conversing with the coed killer himself.
Kemper started offering rides to young coed picking them up near Fresno State University where his mother worked as an administrative assistant. He would often offer rides to young coed, but wouldn’t always murder each coed that he offered a ride to. Of the 6 coeds Kemper murder, he offered rides to all of them and drove to a deserted destination where he would either stab or strangle them. After killing his victims Kemper then would drive then home to rape and dismember their dead corpses. Each attack was driven by a fit of rage starting with an argument between Edmond and his mother Clarnell. The ending of Kemper’s torments was after the murder and mutilation of his mother and Clarnell’s best friend. Kemper said his mother’s last words were “So I supposed you want to stay up all night and talk.” Knowing he was going to kill his mother, he dismembered her body cutting out the tough and the larynx shoving them down the garbage disposal. He raper and mutilated her dead corps like he did with his other victims. Placing the head upon the mantle Kemper used to scream at the decapitated corps head of his dead mother and using it as a dart board. Then Kemper got in his car and drove all the way to Colorado where he pulled over at a pay phone to call the police to turn himself in.
When Kemper called to turn himself in police wouldn’t believe a word of it at first, until he explained how he murder the other six coeds. Kemper was deemed guild on eight counts of first degree murder and was sentenced to eight concurrent life sentences. Now, Kemper is currently serving out his life sentences at the California medical facility inVacaville, and is said to be a model prisoner at the age of 72.
If you made it through this blog congrats! I know that was a lot to take in but that is the gist of the gruesome and violent case of Edmond Kemper, “The Coed Killer”.

Hi everyone my name is Savy short for Savannah, and this is my true crime blog page. I am 24 years old and a true Georgia peach born and raise. I have lived all my life in the same small town until about a few weeks ago. My Fiancé Blake and I just bought our first house just a few miles north from where we both grew up. Blake and I originally met at a church which we both attended as kids and we both went through confirmation. We were never good friends back then and we parted ways for several years. Until, one Saturday night two and a half years ago our paths crossed again the rest is history. We very much enjoy farm life living. We have two dogs, Jax and Whiskey. Jax is a German Shepard Husky mix and Whiskey is our chocolate lab. We also have Kahlua our kitty cat, and about thirty plus chickens. We hope to have a mule, donkeys, and goats sometime in the future. Enough about me let’s get right down to business, the good stuff.
For as long as I can remember I have always had a peaked interest for any and all things related to true crime, specifically serial killers and mass murders. I have watched every crime show or murder/mystery show on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, you name it I’ve seen it. I also enjoy listening to true crime podcasts. I know, it sounds morbid but there are a few key reasons behind my fascination. The thing that really grinds my gears is the physiology behind the who and the why. There is a urning in me, which wants so badly to know the true reasoning as to the triggers set off these killer which causes such violent behavior. I believe this intrigues me because I have always very much enjoyed science, and there is an abundance of unknown theories and question surrounding this topic. Another reason as to why I enjoy true crime is to learn from it. It allows me to have a better understanding about life. What I mean by this is it has taught me to always be fully aware of the people around me and also of my surroundings. Killers don’t always strike at night. Sometimes murders happen in broad daylight. Let’s not forget how the most violent of killers seem to always be the one you or I would least expect.
Now that you have a little bit of back story I hope you enjoy my blog. I will be starting with my personal favorite serial killer, you may or may not have heard of. If you have any suggestion or would like me to cover a certain story or multiple murder just comment or message me with your thoughts. Thanks for reading, we’ll morbidly chat soon!
