Fireworks erupted overtop the city's centre where the giant hole usually could be found. Except now it was filled with a huge stadium! When had that happened!? As was often tradition in Spirale, plenty early risers would have their beauty sleep disturbed by the blaring of an announcement over the electronic devices in their possession.

"That's right, Jonathan! This is an exciting year for the Spirale Games! Well it's the first year, but that's what makes it so exciting!" Anything with a screen would have displayed video of Ofiuco's android body sitting at a sportscasting desk. But there was no one else present so who was she talking to? "We have a number of exciting events for teams to sign up for and we can't wait to see you out there!"

Of course the implication was that if they didn't see them out there then those who didn't participate wouldn't be reaping any of the rewards!

Welcome to our April / May event, the Spiral Games! As you can imagine we've taken inspiration from major sporting events, but this is closer to a celebration of many different skills and only some of the events are based on athleticism! You can find a full list of the events here so that this post isn't too cluttered!

So how is everything going to work?

Characters can participate in some events alone, but we encourage everyone to form teams of up to four characters! All of the team members don't need to participate in every thread if you don't want to but the option is there if you'd like! Teams will have no bearing on rewards (but it will make them easier) so there also isn't a limit of how many teams a character can be in to prevent a scenario where some characters are let out just because some people made teams early on.

If you would like to, you can give your team a name and even design a logo!

On the event list page you can see a list of events and the rewards you can earn from participating! Rewards can only be claimed by the team members who participate, so if you choose to do a one person drabble then only you get those rewards!

You can participate in as many events as you want, but the amount of Stars one character can earn from the event is capped at 500 Stars. This does not include the regular amount you get for event participation.

There will also be an unlock reward for this event, however there is a stipulation to this. In order to claim the unlock you must write at least 300 words with at least one character on your account that your muse has yet to interact with. So long as the thread is event related it will count, which is where teams could certainly help!

"'Course I do!"

While she generally wasn't fond of the strong tingling against her tongue that carbonation brought, Frye wasn't about to pass up any sort of free drink, especially not one in such a sweet and fruity flavor! Snatching the chilled can up without a second thought, she settled down on the wall next to the man who'd offered it, leaning back and moving to pop the tab open-- only to stop short, golden eyes lingering on his face in sudden confusion.

He looked sort of familiar to her, enough so to prickle like a faint eel bite at the back of her brain. But from where? Something about looking at him sat like a heavy lump against her chest, a sour taste that burned at the back of her throat similarly to his cigarette smoke. But despite her abrupt staring, she couldn't place an actual finger on why something about him rung such a strange bell.

Whatever this uncanny feeling was, she quickly decided that she didn't want to think about it too hard, especially not when he'd just offered her a gift. Choosing to shake the moment of discomfort off with a physical shake of her head, she broke right back into one of her normal wide and carefree grins as if nothing had happened, this time popping the can open for real with an audible hiss.

"Must be your lucky day to get a bonus like that, huh? And mine, for being the first person to pass ya by. Thanks!"

"Hey."

He's seen her before, all those months ago in the Abyss. They hadn't ever had a real chance to actually speak, and none of them were really in a good state to have a proper conversation. And now he's just so happened to come across her out on the city streets.

Wolfwood turns his head to expel cigarette smoke, and with his free hand digs into his bag and pulls out a can of cherry soda—still cold. He holds it out to her.

"The vending machine dropped two. You want the extra?"

"YOU?!"

While likely a louder and more volatile reaction than anticipated, Frye couldn't help the shout as it left her lips, gawking at the sight of the shorter squid standing before her. Sure, it was always nice to see another inkling around, a taste of familiarity in a city filled with anything but-- but her?! The rich, Inkopolis princess who'd tried overtaking their turf?!

Past collab or not, surprise allowed for her ink to boil over in the heat of the moment all too quickly, the beginnings of a snarl baring her beak wide. But her mouth snapped back shut again just as fast, taking a step forward and dropping into a squat to flash Pearl a smirk that was perhaps a bit too sharp.

"What, you worried you won't be able to stick it to us without your l'il grouper hanging around?"

Barbed words, quick to leap onto the offense and issue a challenge as the fire blazed behind her eyes; and yet, there was also a familiar playfulness lingering alongside the swift bite, undeniably present in her tone and body language even as she leaned subtly forward with hands resting firm on her hips.

The thought of whether or not this was in any way an appropriate greeting when she was clearly still adjusting was far from Frye's mind, too far caught up in the rush to even consider it. In this second, all she knew was the instant blaze of territorial competition, and the knowledge that Pearl was fast enough on her feet to keep up!

♬ "Yo, Frye!" Pearl wouldn't consider herself to be the closest friend to Deep Cut or anything but they had collabed at least once. Regardless of their history it was just nice to see another inkling and not a human. Nothing against them or anything, but when you lived in a world where they were supposed to be extinct, well... It was like humans living alongside dinosaurs, right?

"You seen Rina anywhere? I've been running circles around this place and haven't seen a thing." This wasn't even the first time recently that they'd been separated. It was distressing and this time she didn't even have Eight! "Kinda starting to get the vibe she isn't here..."

Where the hedgehog's voice was one of trepidation, Frye's was a carefree snicker, golden eyes all too happy to scan the room for yet more treasure while she spoke. The ominous quiet of the woods around them wasn't lost on her; it was more so that she didn't care, chest puffed out with the utmost confidence as she made only the slightest of efforts to keep her voice low.

Well, low compared to her usual standards, anyways. In other words, not very.

"Why are you asking? 'Cause if you're trying to stop me... you totally can't! Ha!"

She'd spent too long on the frustratingly Iong task of painting the massive gate outside so she could swim over it to walk away now without a fight, especially with all of the rumors she'd heard of loot hidden within this massive, natural fortress proving true so fast! Every direction she looked, something else sparkled in the corner of her vision, colorful gemstones and shiny gold alike standing out like beacons amidst the shade of massive roots and towering but dull stones.

Sticking bright purple tongue out as if to dare him, she proceeded to dart forward again without a second thought, snatching another giant coin up into her arms with a careless, audible clink against polished wood.

While the allure of treasure might've been the reason that a certain squid had found this estate quite appealing. Shadow had come here to learn about local lores, and scope general places out.

He was normally good about minding his own business and turning a blind eye if it didn't involve him.

But...Something told him this was going to turn very very bad for the both of them if he didn't at least try to intervene.

"Are you stuffing your pockets?!" Came a strained whisper, the eerie silence of this place hinted that there maybe something stalking the outskirts of this property, and the hedgehog really didn't want to find out. "Is this really the time or place?!"

Racing down the colorful streets of the Golden Ward, the shadow of a figure floating up above almost could have gone unnoticed, despite how bizarre of a sight it was. Frye was clearly in a rush, her feet barely touching the pavement as she made a mad dash down the block, pushing past anyone and anything in her way in the process.

With how long she'd been working on maintaining the Splatcast by herself, she'd almost forgotten that there was at least an attempt at a schedule in place for the show now, as planning ahead had never exactly been one of her strong suits on her own. Which, naturally, meant that she'd gotten a little too distracted by one of the many prize awarding games over by the boardwalk now-- leaving her late for today's broadcast, yet equally reluctant to use one of her super jumps to get there. She needed those to get back home later, and in bustling areas like this, jumping blindly without a beakon wasn't a great idea anyways; last thing she needed was to end up hitching an accidental ride on some random person's car!

(Actually, that idea sounded kind of fun, if only to see where it'd take her. But not right now!)

It wasn't like she wasn't plenty fast on foot anyways--

"GAH!"

The unexpected splash of something wet dripping square against her face stopped her dead in her tracks, stumbling forward only due to continued momentum with a squawk born more out of surprise than anything else. She hurried to wipe the drop of brown liquid off, staring at it dripping off her fingers before tilting her gaze upwards to gawk at the fancy-looking stranger hovering up above.

Wait, how was he even doing that? Whatever-- immediately, her expression twisted into light annoyance, pausing her race long enough to bare her fangs and shout up his way.

"HEY! Watch where you're spillin' that stuff!"

Would her voice be able to reach up that far? Well, maybe! After all, if there was one thing she wasn't known for, it was being any sort of quiet.
