I truly believe that i will never get over the conversation nick and charlie have at the end of the season.
Kit and Joe provide such a beautifully gut-wrenching performance and breathe life into alice's writing. nick is so delicate with charlie in this moment yet so headstrong in letting charlie know that he can let himself think about what happened to him, that he can open up and trust him without being a burden like charlie thinks he is. he lets charlie know in this scene that he doesn't have to sit with all of this baggage alone, that nick will always withstand anything with him, no matter what it is.
the attentiveness you see in each of their eyes as they listen to one another talk only solidifies their love for each other- their communication is such a powerful part of their relationship being allowed to be as lovey as it is. their affection towards the other allows them to carry on a secret conversation just for the two of them; its private, intimate.
i wanna make a whole post discussing the way joe's acting is so expressive this season in the way that no words need to be spoken to be able to figure out exactly what is going on in charlie's mind, but i'll stick to just this specific scene for now.
charlie's reservedness throughout this scene to a more passive watcher may just guide them to focus more on nick- but the way in which charlie's body language and facial expressions are the shining moment of this scene. when there's a pause in dialogue from him, he never stops telling you what he's thinking; his eyes, his movements, his reactions- ALL of it encapsulates charlie spring as the character that alice created all those years ago, that joe has brought to life alongside the rest of the cast and their characters so wonderfully.
