there is someone going around AO3 and apparently taking peoples work? it’s been done to me with my blurb about giving loser ellie head and the characters were changed (to characters who i believe were originally minors?? so don’t?? do that??)

unfortunately, because i do not use AO3 and am not familiar with its format, AND because the account is anonymous, i don’t know how to report it

it should go without saying but don’t do that.

“all credit goes to them” is unacceptable. i wouldn’t have known about this had someone not been kind enough to tell me. and this is not “purely self indulgent” because you are reposting my work. if you want to do this, change whatever characters and keep it to yourself, don’t post it on a platform i don’t use.

if you are thinking, for some reason, about doing this, this is my EXPLICIT statement saying i am not comfortable with that. don’t repost my work.

apologies for the cross posting on tags but i hope other writers can be aware of this potentially happening to them too, and if anyone notices another writers work taken, PLEASE say something to them.

They'll feel bad about this in a few years. Someone will take a photo of a National Guard pig brutalizing a student and get a Pulitzer for it. They'll make a nice little memorial commemorating it. The next EDI hire president will be sure to thank the brave students of Columbia for their radical action years ago before sending in more pigs to deal with whatever is happening on campus then. Bit telling that for years and years evangelical religious extremists have been allowed on university campuses with their bullhorns and horrific imagery where they harass students into physical altercations and when students complain to the university’s administration they just shrug their shoulders citing freedom of speech but when those same tuition-paying students start protesting against war and genocide they call SWAT

i love graffiti. "comics and jazz are the only american art forms" you forgot graffiti. did you remember graffiti? That art form birthed in Philly and NYC in the early 70s by poor Black kids. that art form that spread all over the world and influenced so many. that's used without irony in commercials when they're trying to appeal to a "young urban" customer.

did you forget graffiti? that racism broken windows theory victim? that reach the establishment takes claiming that it's exclusively violent gang members throwing up those full-color pieces and wildstyle tags in the middle of the night outsmarting fifty security cameras because the billboard was ugly anyway. as if, even if it was, it wouldn't be impressive as all hell. risking brutality and fall damage so your art can occupy the space a gentrified condo named something like "Coluumna" took away from you. proving that despite only assholes affording to live here anymore there's still a soul beneath it. an animal with dripping stripes and teeth that go clack-clack tsssss
