Today’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) annual report shows that union membership grew by 273,000 in 2022 even as giant corporations such as Amazon and Starbucks ratcheted up illegal efforts to intimidate, harass and fire workers who are forming unions. (their email address is included) Mike is insincere regarding his political stance on labor, and we cannot in good conscience allow someone to call themselves "pro-labor" while standing in the way of labor peace. For example, he has opposed important legislation to recognize the rights of Santa Cruz METRO workers (SB 957), speaking out against the grad student's strike, and not supporting working families while on the Santa Cruz City Council. It is imperative we appoint leaders on the METRO Board of Directors that will focus on labor relations so we can work towards a more robust transportation system for our community.
