How to submit prompts on an AO3 prompt challenge

First, head to the link for the AO3 collection. Next, under ‘Dashboard’, press ‘Sign Up’ under the name of the collection to the right. 

After doing this, you will be taken to the “create a prompt” site, and asked to fill in a bunch of information. The ones marked with red are required, the ones in black are voluntary. A quick summary on what all these are come below.

Title: This is a good place to put in a quick summary of your prompt. For example, ‘Winnix modern era soulmate AU’.

Fandoms: This works through AO3′s auto-fill function, you type in the fandom that this prompt adheres to and select the correct one in the drop-down menu. For our example, I will only go with “Band of Brothers (TV 2001)” but if you want to ask for a crossover, say a Daemon or Hogwarts AU, you could add “His Dark Materials” or “Harry Potter” as fandoms.

Characters, Relationships, Additional Tags: Again, this works with AO3′s auto-fill function. Type in a name, a ship, a trope or other kind of content (respectively) and it will give you options for tags to use. This is for easy sorting. For our example posts, I will go for “Richard Winters, Lewis Nixon” for characters, “Richard Winters/Lewis Nixon” for relationships, and #Alternate Universe - Soulmates, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting” for additional tags.

Categories: What kinds of relationships do you want to see?  Ratings: Which ratings are you okay with the fill being? (if it doesn’t matter to you, choose “no rating”.)

Archive warnings: Which of these archive warnings are you okay with the fill containing? 

Description: Here you can put in a more elaborate description on what exactly you want your prompt to contain; explain what you want, to your heart’s desire. There are no rules here, although for the sake of the 2020 BoB love fest we ask you not to be too sexually explicit in your descriptions for weird Discord reasons. Feel free to ask for sex and such but don’t go too graphic in the prompt itself. (for example, “Winnix: whipped cream”, or “kink fic, pet play” is alright, but don’t go into super graphic details, please <3) 

Optional tags: For the sake of this challenge, you can leave this space blank, since we are not doing pairings for the love fest.

Semi-anonymous prompt?: if you’re wondering what the fuck this means, i’ll quote ao3 (since I had to google it myself:) You can choose to make your prompt 'semi-anonymous'. This means that your prompt will be displayed as 'anonymous'; however, since it will still be linked in the database with your username, we can't guarantee 100% anonymity - in some circumstances, such as a coding bug, it might be accidentally revealed or guessable. (We've put a lot of work into minimising the risk, but we want to be sure that our users are completely informed about their levels of privacy.)

Basically, it means “Do you want the prompt to show up under your AO3 username, or be labelled as ‘anonymous’?” 

Bottom right -- Add another request?: Do you want to do another prompt? Press this button and you’ll be taken to another prompt page.

When you are done, press Submit and your prompt will go live!

After your prompt is up, you can go back in and edit it if you want to change it, or edit your entire sign-up (aka all your prompts.) If you want to add another prompt after you already submitted one, simply go to “edit sign-up” and press “Add another request?” at the bottom, it’ll let you add submit more prompts.

Old dentists' office walls are full of thousands of "buried teeth"

For at least the third time, construction workers in Georgia have opened up the walls of a former dentist’s office only to discover thousands of teeth in the wall cavity.

The latest discovery was made at Valdosta, Georgia’s TB Converse Building, built in 1900, in a dental office occupied by Dr Clarence Whittington and then Dr Lester G Youmans, from 1900 until the 1930s.

Previous troves of entombed teeth have been discovered in old dentists’ offices n Greensboro and Carrolton.

I wanted to give it a little extra thought before I posted anything about this, but I think it’s time.

Nobody loved YandereDev more than a friend of mine who has dissociative identity disorder (DID). He absolutely idolized Dev. But he was kicked off of Dev’s moderator team and banned from the Discord server because Dev was annoyed by his DID.

YandereDev made the following announcement:

I can’t take DID seriously. I don’t think it’s a real thing. I think it’s a made-up fantasy that some people indulge in, as a excuse to occasionally roleplay as different people.

I can’t take it anymore. I can no longer pretend like it’s not the weirdest, dumbest, cringiest thing ever. It makes me uncomfortable and creeps me out, and I don’t want to see that weird crap in here anymore.

I’ve made the decision to remove [the guy with DID] from the server. I can no longer play along with someone’s weird fantasies or pretend like their silly role-playing is normal.

Many of his supporters left after that, including most of his moderators. After seeing the backlash, he decided to “apologize” to my friend. It wasn’t much of an apology. He simply said, “Sorry, I think I should have handled things differently,” reiterated that he’s “very, very skeptical about the validity of DID,” and wrote three paragraphs trying to justify what he did.

Afterwards, he made an addition to his debunk page in which he claimed that he does “believe that it’s a real condition,” even though he linked directly to the announcement he made the day before that clearly states the opposite. He also claimed that he “apologized to him for mishandling the situation,” even though, as stated earlier, it wasn’t much of an apology, and he decided not to unban the moderator in question.

I’ve defended Dev hundreds of times, but I’m afraid I cannot defend this. It gives me great pain to say this, as I feel I may have wasted three years of my life and thousands of dollars, but I no longer want to help YandereDev. I’ve cancelled my monthly $100 membership on Patreon and I won’t be renewing my Twitch subscription.

The people who make videos, forums, blogs, and Subreddits dedicated to complaining about YandereDev and making disgusting memes about him are childish and hateful, and most of the information they spread is either false or none of their business. I still urge you not to listen to them or join them. Hating or humiliating YandereDev is completely unjustified. I will be practicing what I’ve preached all along: instead of dwelling on what I don’t like, I will simply move on.

I don’t exactly know for sure what I’ll move on to, because YandereDev is the only one who has ever accepted me without professional experience or a college education. I’ll probably never have an opportunity to work on something as well-known as Yandere Simulator ever again. Hopefully, my skills won’t have to go to waste for long.

I still hope to be YandereDev’s friend for as long as he’ll let me, but I can’t allow myself to enable his abusive behavior—especially the repeated mistreatment of his own moderators, whom I also consider my friends. He can only play the “I got mad and said something I didn’t mean” card so many times before it’s time for him to admit that he needs professional help to control his emotions.

I’m incredibly sorry to anybody who is disappointed in me for making this decision. The past three years have been quite a roller coaster, and I’ve made the nicest friends (and the cruelest enemies) in the world. I love all of you.
