“After the Federation Forces’ space armada launched from Earth, the Zeon forces suffered a series of defeats that began with the fall of Solomon.
It’s both ironic and appropriate that the phenomena seen at the start of the war now took place in reverse. Perhaps the most important factor was that, while the Federation Forces were now working in unison, the Zeon commanders on each front were losing the ability to cooperate with each other.”

“The Crossbone Vanguard were strictly prohibited from any attacks against colonial hardware, which may result in use restrictions of various powerful weapons of destruction.
The most notable example is the system called fast spear weapons. Simple explanation would be: it is a gun that projects a spear to pierce the enemy at high speed to avoid massive explosion and destruction. Compared with another traditional melee weapon such as Beam Sabers, the Spear performance is very good for ranged attacks.
This weapon, and also because of the power limit on use of weapons tied our hands and created a great advantage gap.
Because the emergence of such tactics as well as weapons, tactical guidelines for internal fighting appears to have been established in colonies, but because U.C.0123 years later for some time there had been no war, thus only the Crossbone Vanguard forces used the exclusive MS tactics.”

“As the war entered its middle stages, the Federation Forces built up their fighting strength and intelligence emerged regarding the RX mobile suits, so the Zeon forces decided to develop next-generation space combat mobile suits as well. The plans presented to the military at this point were the R-2 type, a new model of the Zaku II; the R09, a space combat version of the Dom; and the newly designed MS-15 and MS-11 (later the MS-14).” -Mobile Suit Variation Volume 2

“The mobile suit amply demonstrated its abilities as a general-purpose weapon in the recent war, but, as local warfare became more diverse, situations arose to which it could not adapt. Aside from creating more mobile suit variations, the development of support weapons was also proposed as a solution. These planned weapons were called mobile armors.” -Mobile Suit Variation Volume 2
