"Apo on the wall"
I made this blog in accordance with our activity in 21st Century Literature where I should share my thoughts, opinions, and expressions toward this poem. Apo on the wall is a poem written by BJ Patino that talks about the time when the Philippines is under the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos. I like the poem because it flashback the time during martial law. We should say the story is mysterious because in every line on it there is a hidden meaning. But it’s nice. Just like the relationship of the father and Apo, I say that because the father in the story is Loyal and supportive on his boss (Apo) he follows what Apo’s told him. I feel anger because and grief, not in the poem I feel anger in martial law. Because of the way the authorities discipline the people. Murders, tortures and persecution are the way authorities used toward people and these reasons are what made them scared. From those brutality, I am in sorrow to those people. But here comes my doubt insert’s why? Because I don’t think that you be punished or murdered If you don’t have any sin’s. Another question how sure they are that the one who torture people are one’s under or the subordinates of Ferdinand Marcos. And lastly is that the EDSA power revolution would not be peaceful, if it’s not because of Ferdinand Marcos order not to attack. It affects how you understand the situation. For me As a youth i have the duty to understand martial law so we can change the present and create a better future.
