the fucking difference between buying shoes, jackets or purses made out of leather (cow, in the vast majority, but also goat or pig) and buying furs made out of fox or ermine is that the cow, or whatever, isn't killed solely for that purpose.

the animals we get leather from are eaten almost in their entirety, and the skin gets treated and used to make stuff that will last you a lifetime.

foxes, ermines, minks, they're not killed for any other purpose aside from getting their fur, as far as I know. now THAT is fucked up.

eco leather is filled with fucking plastic and will start to chip away and release its shit at any minor inconvenience. actual leather will last you through the apocalypse.
