PHANTOM watches the way your lips shape his name — his real name — each syllable carefully pronounced, lovingly enunciated. lu-ci-an.

your hands ghost over his skin, cotton balls soaked in antiseptics brushing against open skin, and you call his name again, gently, sweetly, "lucian."

his eyes flutter upwards to meet yours. his fingertips trace over the shape of your jawline, the black crystals dotting your flesh turning your skin iridescent. together you were doomed, you had said once, tracing over long-healed scars on his skin while he cradled the back of your head — the feeling of your delicate pulse beneath his fingertips seemed, to him, to be more compelling a melody than anything he had once sang upon his crimson stage.

"...yes, love? i'm here." phantom watches how the furrow of your brow eases as your attention shifts to him, and he feels a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. your hand pulls away from the angry, red gash on his arm — he watches the movement, all but enraptured by you.

you smile, beginning to wrap his forearm in bandages. "lost in the clouds again? you looked deep in thought."

he hums in reply, but that note doesn't become melody, and the hold of your hand on his arm remains firm and steady. "perhaps i was," he says. "did i worry you?"

the bandages are sealed neat and snug. your hand trails up his arm to cup his cheek, leaving his skin prickly and warm in your wake. "not at all," you reply. "what were you thinking about, lucian?"

lucian. his name falls from your lips again — ever so slightly, he leans into your touch like a sunflower to the sun, closes his eyes to savour the sound. he contemplates telling you it's nothing. he contemplates telling you, i think i was not born to be an artist or a killer but to be held in your arms like this. he contemplates —

"...you," he says simply, softly, candidly.

— but no level of contemplation could ever come close to the way you say his name, lu-ci-an, so carefully pronounced and lovingly enunciated.

# GENERAL DATING HEADCANONS / ft. thorns

thorns' idea of of a romantic relationship is limited at best and about non-existent in truth. it's not something that he concerned himself with. he never imagined himself romantically involved with anyone, not thinking that it was something tangible for him, with his undertakings—until you came along and got him thinking.

it was of utmost importance that he learns quickly, then—your perception of him matters. and he does learn fast, but only in theory. thorns has the idea of romanticism, of courting and gestures of affection down—it is, however, much harder to execute his plans smoothly when he can feel his heart pound against his ribcage when your hand so much as brushes against his.

as much as thorns is, well, thorns, he is always quick to fluster. this earnest affection is foreign to him. when you smooth down his hair after an unsuccessful experiment, help him with some water for his dry skin, pick some fuzz off of his clothes—he's absolutely smitten and it drives him up the wall how even the smallest gestures are enough to make his face turn hot.

others may call him cold, and it's true that his tone and demeanor may give that impression—but to you he's anything but. it's true that he's still blunt with you, straight-forward and stoic—but he's never unkind. thorns seems to have a protective streak in particular—he guides you back to your place after your outings and makes sure you're fine and settled in before he leaves. he hooks your arms lets you hold onto him when cities get crowded. and when you hurt yourself, he's always there to patch you up, even if it's just a finger-prick.

that being said, thorns is very much a home date kind of guy. there's no problem with pda, no, he doesn't really care how others (other than you, again) perceive him—but he prefers the more intimate and quiet setting. there's nothing specific that he likes to do over anything else—in fact, thorns is perfectly satisfied just being in your presence, each doing your own thing.

he's not particularly touchy, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't enjoy it. he likes it when you lean on his shoulder, or when you let him lay on your chest where he can hear your heartbeat. it's oddly therapeutic to him. and he likes hearing it speed up when he takes your hand in his, toying with your fingers. it pleases him to know that he also has this effect on you.

there's been a theme change 🎊 i thought to honor the lingering echoes rerun and my specialest special boy.. so here we are. if there's any issues with readability, please alert me! ♡

i added and changed some rules here and there now that i've settled in more, it's nothing drastic—but please, take a look. i'll put the tag-system up soon as well, so you may browse specific tags. additionally, i also made a google form for feedback! i've done this before on a different blog and it helps me adapt my blog to your wishes as well. this'll be up in my navigation post. i'll respond to feedback on this blog when there needs to be change! :D

↬ it's during his off-time that he feels like he can spend time with you in earnest. just as he has a habit of kissing you before he goes on his next mission, he also enjoys kissing you as soon as he hangs up his coat for the day. it's less rushed this way, and some days he seems just a little tired, but he's always slow and gentle as he kisses you, as if savouring the feeling of your lips against his, and he always leaves the slightest taste of coffee lingering on your lips as he pulls away.

↬ enforcer is also very fond of peppering your face with kisses, or kissing the backs of your hands or the crown of your head. it's one of his favourite ways to wind down for the day, making a cup of coffee for you both and letting you go on about your day, or telling you about his own. sometimes he might trail off, tracing circles onto your hand with his thumb, and he'll lean forward, just a little, to press a kiss to a blemish on your cheek. it wakes him up better than a sip of his void of black coffee, and is much sweeter to him, too.

↬ when LUMEN kisses you, it almost seems as if he's equal parts eager and shy. he has a tendency to ask you each time before he does, too; while it might ruin any chances of surprising you, there's something endearing in the way he asks, may i kiss you? isn't there?

↬ his kisses are always light and gentle and sweet, like an early morning breeze. he's long past the days when he seemed afraid of coming off too strong — how could he have any sort of worries around you, when you make him feel so at home? — but he can't quite help it when it makes itself known in the barest brushes of his lips against your cheek. it's just how he is, he supposes, and he has to admit that he loves the way you laugh when his breath tickles your skin.

↬ lumen loves kissing your lips, of course, but he also has a habit of kissing aaaall over your hands, over your wrist, your thumb, every scar and callus and bruise. if not that, he might massage your shoulders while pressing a kiss to the nape of your neck. little moments like this at the end of the day are what he looks forward to the most, no matter how tired or haggard the both of you look — he adores you more than he has words to tell you with, but in this, at the very least, he hopes to somehow convey it to you.

flamebringer; having been in so many battles, often with the very people he sat with for a night before; is aware that most warriors possess a duality that is necessary for survival. he'd know best — the gentle gardener of rhodes island would never survive out on the battlefield. to live, it's necessary to draw a line within oneself, between human and warrior — and he surmises that that, too, is your strategy.

having borne witness to your intensity and passion for battle, he harbors respect for you — no matter your philosophy regarding bloodshed, you've easily cut down many in your path. that, by itself, should be respected, if your tenets agree with his or not.

now, while in theory, he understands your duality perfectly — practically? he's often at a loss. there've hardly been people who've stuck by his side for so long — especially warriors like you. but you're with him, there, beaming in a gardening apron as if two weeks prior you haven't debilitated an entire troop. there's understanding between both of you — but also confusion, especially in regards to how you should treat one another.

it's almost clumsy, juvenile on his part — there is hardly one that he stood so close with, after all, so he was never able to experience it. it makes sense, but from an outsider's perspective it is rather comedic due to how uncharacteristic he is. compliments (outside of those made to your battle prowess) and displays of affection, while being honest, sound almost awkward and regurgitated coming from him — with responses alike.
