some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

I really miss the days of the internet where algorithms didn't constantly loom over everyone's heads. Posting art used to be fun, exciting. Now it's an endless endeavor of constant trend-chasing and mass content creation. Pursuing numbers at the expense of enjoyment will do nothing but eventually destroy your creativity and make you hate art.

My heart really goes out to the people working themselves like this for survival. Between Twitter's meltdown and Instagram's obsession with competing against tiktok, there's barely any decent place for us to post without stressing over posting schedules and trends. Times are really tough for freelancers these days

social media has really warped our perception of creativity and hobbies. Stop doing things to post them. Just write. Just journal. Just sketch. Just read. Just annotate. Just sing. Just crochet. Just do the thing you’re going to do with the assumption no one will ever see or know you did it. Stop performing. Just enjoy it.

think it's a deep consolation to know that spiders dream, that monkeys tease predators, that dolphins have accents, that lions can be scared silly by a lone mongoose, that otters hold hands, and ants bury their dead. that there isn't their life and our life. nor your life and my life. that it's just one teetering and endless thread and all of us, all of us, are entangled w it as deep as entanglement goes. v neat i think.
