People should make more doomed by narratives siblings relationship.
Like with lovers you can just sever it and not have it related to you ever again but with siblings how could you?
You grow up with them you raise them or they raised you you both know how unforgiving the world is to both of you? You would die for them but will hate them for doing the same and yet none of you would regret it and both of you know it. They could be the person you loath the most and miss the most cause you still remember how they sneaked a candy into your hands. You can sever the tie but you can never look away at what you've lost, at whom you've lost because fate doesn't allow you to be together, eating dinners in quiet peace, if only there's another life, another time, where i can make you another plate of pancakes i would im sorry im sorry im sorry —

Hi! This is in response to your post on Megumi and Tsumiki. Can I just say that I was completely underwhelmed with the outcome of their story and it almost feels a little comical. Like what the heck was that ending? I was genuinely upset that she ended up dead because it felt like we were going to get this big reveal with them and it just never panned out.
I have my issues with Gege and the way he kills off his female characters as a way to power up other characters. I am not a fan. But I feel like everyone else got some closure when their character died. Megumi and Tsumiki did not get that closure.
I would go a step further to say that the last real conversation they had was when she threw the strawberry milk at him. Because she was possessed by Yorozu and I don't think that Tsumiki was in there at that point. So they left on horrible terms. Which is completely heartbreaking.
I view Tsumiki and Megumi's relationship as completely different from Yorozu and Sukuna's relationship. Sukuyuro had one scene together and it was so one sided. I think it's because Yorozu and Sukuna are the complete opposites of Megumi and Tsumiki. They don't cater the same values or bonds to one another. Sukuna doesn't care about Yorozu. Whereas Megumi has always been consistent with his priorities when it comes to Tsumiki. Yorozu is completely selfish. She does what she wants without any regard for anyone else. Tsumiki cares to a fault and it causes a rift between her and Megumi. MeguMiki just worked.
Anyways, I was so sad when she died. I really wanted Megumi to get up and fight but he was so defeated it crushed me. I too feel like reading copious amount of fanfic to help ease the pain.
Sorry for the long post. Love your blog by the way :D
Hey hey! First, thanks for the mail and the compliment. This blog is for megumiki fandom so, whatever you guys want to talk about, let's do it!
Second, sorry! You know how it goes... life.com.
Can I just say that I was completely underwhelmed with the outcome of their story and it almost feels a little comical. Like what the heck was that ending?
A straight up dose of irony, Gege style. That's what that ending was.
Looool 🫠
Let's taco'bout it under the cut...
So I have to admit I loved parts of how the whole tragedy unfolded because I personally loved Yorozu, but overall I do feel empty when it comes to megumiki and more specifically, Tsumiki.
How to say... like I never expected Gege to come out and overtly say megumiki is canon (because he seems to only do it for very specific ships), but...
Excuse me, wut?
Tumblr media
We don't even see them interact in real time?
I seriously don't even know what or how to feel because, as of chapter 225, it's all still so inconclusive, and with the way Gege is rushing, who knows whether he'll elaborate.
That said, the story is not over yet and he might still reveal something. Otherwise I have to come to terms with the idea that Gege gaslighted me lol 🤡.
And, yes, I feel gaslighted because I know a "canon" ship when I see one! I know I've said this three hundred million times, but the way Gege introduced this dynamic was soooo ambiguous.
He presented them as "childhood friends to lovers" and then *boom!* jk they're step siblings. Gege is a troll, let us never forget that.
I was genuinely upset that she ended up dead because it felt like we were going to get this big reveal with them and it just never panned out
I'm curious to hear more about what you thought would/should have happened.
I think for me, I would have liked to see that apology. Perhaps even Megumi letting his guard down and being vulnerable with her. But he literally wears his "cold and aloof emo boy" mask right up until he realizes Tsumiki has been long gone.
Tumblr media
The sheer look of terror in his face is *chef's kiss* and probably some of the realest panels with Megumi since he hardly ever shares how he feels.
Also, the fact that he says "all this time" implies the obvious idea that Yorozu was acting like Tsumiki all along--I just also feel like it isn't out of the question to overthink and assume Yorozu might have been leading Megumi on as Tsumiki.
Tumblr media
That's not to mention his inability to see Tsumiki as having her own sense of self and agency. To Megumi, Tsumiki is a doll, an idea to be protected, not a real person with her own desires and thoughts. That's not to say Megumi didn't love her, just that Megumi is immature about how he relates to her. Heck, they both are!
So I am not surprised by the outcome because to me it feels like Gege was always going for tragedy with megumiki. On so many levels too... but I have to be honest, I would have liked to see her, Tsumiki. Not Megumi's idea/memory of her.
So again, it makes sense we never saw Tsumiki because we're experiencing jjk through Megumi's pain rn, and in Megumi's mind, Tsumiki is a damsel in distress that needs to be rescued. She's an idea, a projection of Megumi's emotional life.
I have my issues with Gege and the way he kills off his female characters as a way to power up other characters. I am not a fan.
Yeah, not to excuse him, it's just that the way I see it we're just seeing the edge of feminism in Japan. I'm not sure a lot of fans are aware that Japan ranks low in the feminism index for being a developed nation.
Coincidentally, a moot recently posted about how the women in Gundam Wing basically serve the purpose of powering up other characters, most frequently males.
I reckon this might be a frequent theme in manga geared at young boys? idk...
I like to think that the women getting sacrificed in jjk is an unconscious cultural and societal bias about how women's role is to support men? Who knows...
But I feel like everyone else got some closure when their character died. Megumi and Tsumiki did not get that closure.
Yeah I totally get you!
Hell, as of right now, Megumi himself does not have closure. We don't even know if he'll survive.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed tho. I can't imagine Gege won't at least say something about only Megumi's most important person.
I would go a step further to say that the last real conversation they had was when she threw the strawberry milk at him. Because she was possessed by Yorozu and I don't think that Tsumiki was in there at that point. So they left on horrible terms. Which is completely heartbreaking.
Na, that was Tsumiki.
Remember she went into a comma when she became possessed.
Tumblr media
Regardless, as you say, they totally left off in bad terms, which only makes it all the more tragic. So, again, we're seeing Megumi's immaturity showing.
I may or may not be exploring this theme in the fic I've been working on someday I will finish it dammit.
It's just that I 👏🏼 am 👏🏼 telling 👏🏼 you, Gege is one of those mangaka that does 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 do 👏🏼 happy pairings.
I know "tragic" ships that are "meant to be" is not everyone's cup of tea but I find it so compelling.
I view Tsumiki and Megumi's relationship as completely different from Yorozu and Sukuna's relationship.
Yes! I do too. I just also agree with the idea that, psychologically, Sukuna and Yorozu are an exploration of the toxic traits of the bond they shared.
Basically, Tsumiki is a girl who takes her role of "big sister" a little too seriously, possibly to the detriment of their "romantic" bond because it causes conflict with Megumi.
Tumblr media
So you have Sukuna mirroring that very same dynamic with Yorozu in which Sukuna is not interested in how Yorozu tries to relate to him. Yorozu basically wants to own and subdue Sukuna.
What is Tsumiki doing when she's nagging at Megumi not to fight? Well-intentioned or not, Tsumiki is trying to control Megumi and Megumi does not like it.
Anyways, that's how I see it.
But again, yes! They're their own person. Sukuna is not Megumi and Tsumiki is not Yorozu.
I think above all, regardless of how uninterested Megumi might "look", I just can't imagine that Megumi would have killed someone if it wasn't because of how much she means to him.
I think I already mentioned this but there's a post in this hellsite that implies Megumi and Tsumiki had a rocky relationship because of the panels we see of them. But I couldn't disagree more with the post because...
1) it fails to acknowledge that Megumi's poker face is an act. Megumi is the kind of character who looks aloof while there's an emotional storm brewing within
2) again, if they really had such an awful relationship and there were no good times for Megumi to think back on, why would he go through such great lengths to save her?
In the end, these are two kids who were abandoned, who've had no one else but each other to rely on. They don't know what a healthy relationship looks like so it's likely they had a rocky and dysfunctional relationship.
Anyways, I was so sad when she died. I really wanted Megumi to get up and fight but he was so defeated it crushed me.
I know 🥲.
Tumblr media
He's all traumatized... I need him to save himself...
Sorry for the long post.
Sorry for the long wait!! I've literally been just working and have been working on answering your ask for a couple of weeks now. Thanks for your patience!

Oooh I saw your post about the megumi x tsumiki “conclusion” so I had to run to your ask box to chat with you about it!
I knew it was going to end in tragedy, and I initially was very excited to have them go head-to-head as vessels for Sukuna and Yorozu — even wrote a whole fic about it! But I think the canon execution was ultimately… lacking? I wish we even had more acknowledgement of Megumiki’s past: flashbacks/memories to when they were younger, even a few more crumbs to explain why megumi was so hell-bent in throwing himself into the culling game to save her…!
I just feel like these entire final plot lines are barreling forward with a lot of action and not enough breathing room to develop the characters and their relationships… To ao3 I go to get my satisfaction, I guess!
Oh my! YES thanks for coming over to the ask box 🤭.
So I'm really hoping we'll get something more too! Especially because Yorozu gave something to Sukuna as she died. But then that would necessitate that Sukuna kept whatever it is she gave him...
I totally hear you on the tragedy! No other way about it. But I also would have liked more acknowledgement of that past too.
I'm so glad you bring this up because there's a post on this hellsite about how Megumi and Tsumiki had a terrible relationship based on how some of the panels we have of them he was always mean to her. But like... not to minimize the idea that he was so mean to her, but why would he be so hellbent on saving her if they really only had a terrible relationship? Not to mention I personally interpret a lot of his behavior as him simply not knowing better.
So I would have liked to see those moments that made it worth it for him not only to risk his own life and the life of others, but to decide he would kill for her sake and have zero qualms about it!
He clearly realized his behavior was out of line a little too late, so I think many of us would have liked to see him apologize like he said he wanted to do. LE SIGH!
I also agree with what you said about the current state of the manga just barreling through events...
As you say... off to ao3 I go 😂. I've been working on something myself so I'm going to try and finish it. But I'm still writing about events pre-Tsumiki getting cursed although I do have plans for writing about Yorozu pretending to be Tsumiki 😈.
Do send the link to your fic. Would love to read you and thanks for chatting with me!

Yo! Man... it feels like only yesterday that Tsumiki was alive and then wasn’t. What are y’alls thoughts about what happened?
I want to write my thoughts but I still haven’t really decided how I feel about the whole ordeal if I’m honest.
Like... there’s something to be said about the parallels between Sukuna and Yorozu as a ship and Megumi and Tsumiki, and at the same time they’re also not the same people.
I’ve never thought Megumi and Tsumiki had a “perfect” relationship and at the same time I’m not sure if I’m deluding myself when it comes to how sukuyoru is like an exaggeration of the toxic dynamic in megumiki because I don’t like it. It implies that Megumi is your typical male character who is pursued by all the girls who simp for him and he’s just stoic and un-interested the whole time... I hate that trope tbh.
I guess I’m just waiting for a resolution to Megumi’s arc to come around to figure out how I feel...

Hii~
I've been a lurker/liker here for some time. And I love your blog 🫶
Have you seen jjk ch 218 leak?
At the end of the chapter, Yorozu concluded that Sukuna "knows love" just by seeing him smirk(?)
(And she's not happy with this at all coz she's the one who ought to teach him Real Love lmao)
It's such a bizarre thing to have "love" attached to Sukuna's name (unless it's twisted)
What are your thoughts in this?
I'll share mine (delusion) if you don't mind ^^;
Since Sukuna was established as a calamity/disaster even as a human. It's kinda unbelievable that he had "loved" before, I assume that he learned that "love" thru other people's experience. (3rd pov or just a bystander of an affair/relationship)
Maybeee...
He saw through Megumi's memories/feeling for Tsumiki? 👀👀👀👀
While I may be reaching and just advocating for Megumiki (sibling love or romance or whatevs) but I think this is also possible
Or.. Maybe Gege will surprise us with something entirely different lmao..
I want to hear your perspective on this
Thanks for letting me blab on here
ʘ‿ʘ hahaha
Hey hey, thanks for the kind comments and for reaching out.
This is perhaps a bit late but yes, I have indeed read the latest chapters lol.
It's such a bizarre thing to have "love" attached to Sukuna's name (unless it's twisted)
What are your thoughts in this?
My thoughts under the cut!
But before...
I'll share mine (delusion) if you don't mind ^^;

I do not mind at all 🫢, by all means! Thanks for sharing (your delusion). I actually love your delusion lol.
The idea that Sukuna has seen Megumi's memories of his relationship with Tsumiki is totally canon, we just don't know what specifically Sukuna has seen.
But I love the collective megumiki headcanon that Sukuna has seen #things in Megumi's memories.
Tumblr media
ehem.
Right. #things.
Anyways...
I actually haven't finished writing my thoughts about it because I've been busy, but there's so much going on regarding the psychology of romantic love that I want to explore regarding Sukuna and Yorozu and the idea of Sukuna being someone who can or cannot experience love.
For one, I am massively biased by this panel from x/1999...
Tumblr media
"There is a definite crime that can't be made up... there's no one who can't love someone."
I bring it up because, thematically, x and jjk share certain similarities. One of them is the idea of characters who have no empathic connection to others, and so they have no regard for others.
Seishiro, the character in the panel above, is basically a serial killer and psychopath who is caught off guard by the fact that, contrary to what he believed to be true about himself, he realizes he can feel love. Said love, however, is very, very, VERY twisted and it manifests in this very creepy and sinister way.
I won't spoil it but basically he's a massive idiot.
So I personally much prefer the headcanon that Sukuna has felt love at some point in his life, even if it is a twisted and corrupted version of love.
I particularly love head canons of said love being so twisted that it involves hurting or killing the Beloved.
Anyways, I just wonder if Gege is trying to portray love as something that exists on a continuum where our ideals of love as a beautiful force exist on one end, and where the nastiness of toxic love exists on the opposing end.
If you're interested in the psychology of romantic love and don't mind reading me overpsychologizing the hell out of the last couple of chapters, I'll share the post to this blog when I'm done with it.
Thanks for reaching out! Hope you're enjoying JJK!
Chapter 219 was a total heartbreaker what with our girl getting fridged at last, at the hands of Megumi no less.
Like... talk about tragedy.

Ok, we've been talking so much about Megumi's obvious feelings, but what about Tsumiki? Any thoughts on if she has romantic feelings for Megumi as well?
WELL dear anon, if you have seen the leaks for chapter 216, I would say that what we are seeing is a very twisted look at a twisted and corrupted version of Tsumiki's love for Megumi. But, while I like this idea, I kind of feel like that's also not necessarily true because then that means that Sukuna's indifference = Megumi's aloofness towards Tsumiki.
To answer your question... I honestly don't know and there's no canonical evidence about it for the time being. If anything, I dare sa that given his behavior and how he expresses himself about Tsumiki, any romantic feelings might have been Megumi's.
If you've read my fics then you know that I like to think Tsumiki does have romantic feelings for him and that they have a sort of "childhood friends to lovers" soulmate bond.
What about you? Got any thoughts?
Thanks for dropping by 🥂.

With all these Megumiki and SukuYoro things i think we kinda missed one point. Remember Kenjaku saying smth about "I thought you're gonna leave us us now". US? Is he referring to him and Uraume? Why would he do that? Another one-sided thing? I know I maybe overthinking, but if Ken is having onesided thing for Uraume, Uraume is about Sukuna and Sukuna is about Yorozu...and this whole thing is about unrequited love....this kinda funny, I wouldn't say no to that 😆. I would definitely suck Gege's dick for that plot😁
yeah I saw someone point out that he uses "tachi" which refers to "us". LOL I am not sure it means Kenny has a crush on Ura Ume but I actually love your idea bahaha. Listen, at this point, everything is fair game.

I honestly don’t think anything going to happens to Tsumiki when she fights sukuna since before megumi told yuta hes the only person he trust so yuta probably will have a plan.
This is such a great point!
I just learned that Yorozu was in Sendai. It didn't hit me when I saw Ryu and Uro that she was there tbh. So I can totally see Yuta intervening if it came to it.
I'm also wondering if Sukuna is underestimating Megumi's ability to bring himself back online if Tsumiki is in danger.
Thanks for dropping by! ❣
Here's to more megumiki "degenerate" madness from Gege 🥂.

Agree, I personally too prefer Sukuna to be the one with crush. But let's see how it's gonna turn out. Japanese is a very twisted language, so it's kinda early to do any conclusions. I mean if Sukuna didn't ever gave damn about Yorozu then there's no need for Ken to point out these relationships. Means there has to be a time that Sukuna chased her and now he is in kinda tsundere mode trying to convince himself he is after her bc he wants tsumiki to ruin. Mixed up things - his desire to encounter his past lover and also complete his current goals
Gosh, right now there seems a lot of back and forth about it. So who knows. I just saw an account that had previously said it was Yorozu the one with the crush go back and say "no, it's Sukuna!"
So yeah... let's see what TBC scans says and what the official team says. I'll go pull the panels myself but my Japanese is bad, especially when it comes to idioms so I'm not sure I can come to a proper conclusion myself.
Love what you're saying about Sukuna being a total tsundere about her bahaha.
So I was thinking about this earlier because I've seen a couple of comments on Twitter about how people can't imagine Sukuna having a "crush" (which brings implications of "love") and like that's precisely what makes it interesting to me--Sukuna's definition of love has got to be self-serving and twisted af. It reminds me of one of my favorite manga "villains" because I headcanon his love language is "acts of pain infliction" and I feel like Sukuna would have a twisted definition of love like that.
So I love that, as you say, Sukuna is like "idgaf about her I just want to kill Tsumiki" but like Yorozu wants to kill Sukuna and it's all so very comical and twisted because on top of that these two weirdos are using Megumi and Tsumiki's bodies.
I can't wait to see what Gege cooks!
Thanks for dropping by! ❣

so ok, turns out it's Yorozu is the one with one-sided crush. But anyway megumiki official reveal should be during Sukuna vs Yorozu battle
Yes, I saw that. Honestly I'm sad it's Yorozu the one with the one-sided crush because it would be far more interesting for Sukuna, the King of Curses, to be the one with an unrequited crush. But instead we get the usual "woman pinning for a man one-sided crush" trope.
Oh well.
Honestly tho... I kind of want to look at the original Japanese panels myself to confirm. I'm very curious about how TBC and the official translators are going to translate too.
Thanks for stopping by! Can't wait to read this chapter AND the next one bahaha.
Here's to more megumiki "depravity" 🥂.

Ok and the ridiculousness of Sukuna x Yorozu that I love above all is the fact that they want to kill each other. It’s almost seisub but not as tragic.
It’s so, so twisted and I love it all the more for it.
Ok I know I’ve been laughing my face off since I saw the leaks but… now that I’ve finally calmed down, honestly…the trope: a 1,000 year rendezvous between lovers? Oh my! Gege is a very, very twisted romantic!
Like this whole implication that Sukuna and Yorozu are meeting again and picking up where they left off 1,000 years ago, and the fact that these two individuals are occupying the Fushiguro siblings bodies is…
megumiki is written in the stars on so many levels. By that I mean that, as a pairing, they’re doomed af for like three hundred million reasons and this is just one of them.
