Anyway, Komaeda and Kuzuryuu. Honestly a really good pairing. Kuzuryuu’s super no-nonsense but he’s also very understanding. There’s a reason why Komaeda is closest to him in the OVA. Kuzuryuu, in many ways, is very much the kind of person he needs to balance him out.

Thing is, Kuzuryuu’s not the most open guy or the easiest to befriend due to his need to force a tough, antisocial front and has a lot of pressures to deal with. But weirdly enough, by being a well-meaning unintentional troublemaker, I think Komaeda can do him good by being someone he just can’t really force that front around because he’s instead stuck worrying about this Fucking Idiot. Komaeda, even if he’s easily misinterpreted, has a sincerity to him that Kuzuryuu could appreciate and be influenced by for the better, and I do think that Kuzuryuu can understand Komaeda’s well-meaning intentions easier than others.

So you have a potentially strong, pure friendship here, definitely.

Although, weirdly enough I do think a romance probably wouldn’t work out, lol. Just because there’s still a bit of a disconnect between them. After all, Kuzuryuu has close relationships with his family as well as the complicated case of Peko, while Komaeda…really doesn’t have anyone so there’s not much he can offer there. Likewise, Komaeda’s a bit too fragile for the rough yakuza life and Kuzuryuu definitely needs someone hardier in that regard. :’D
