The thumping of his boots colliding with the hardwood flooring with every heavy footfall that slapped the ground, resonated loudly around the corridor as Maddox ran to his next class. He’d be lucky to make it before the final bell chimed, but he had to try. His grades had been slipping lately and if his father caught wind of his incompetence, he’d never hear the end of it. Gritting his teeth in determination, he pumped his arms at his sides and cut a corner sharply, running like he was on the field in the middle of a game when he slammed into someone. The collision jarred him, startling a yelp from his lips as the pair tumbled helplessly to the hallway floor, Maddox trying with all his might to roll his muscular frame from the body beneath his own, but with very little success—he hit hard.

margot was in a rush--what else was new, really?? she was running, not very much paying attention to who was around her so much as what was on her plate. a sorority meeting at six, a paper due at 8, a lab review due tomorrow morning. she was only about halfway through the checklist in her head before she collided hard with another person, sending herself tumbling down as well as the male. she landed on her arm, hard on the ground and groaned. this always seemed to happen to her, didn’t it?? margot sat herself up, blinking a few times to readjust her vision after being taken out so hastily. “shit--i’m so sorry. that was probably all my fault honestly. are you okay?? can i do anything for you??”

“What are you doing?” His voice was quicker than he expected as he walked off to the sidelines, a bruised cheek from someone else’s shoe and a sprained ankle in tow. “Sorry… I need to sit down for like two secs, you wanna join or what?” 

margot’s head popped up from the textbook she was reading at aiden’s voice, eyebrows raising in surprise. “sorry--i’m just reading for class.” her head tilted at his offer. “play football?? somehow i see that ending badly for me. i’m not the most durable or coordinated. what happened to you??”
