PSA for All TS3 Players (and even TS4 players)

For the past few days I've been molding my ideal TS3 experience with essential quality of life mods, and one in particular has recently been deleted. As we all know, TS3 didn't ship with an official Open For Business type pack, they decided to put bits and pieces of one on the store, if you ask me, they're trying to pull the same idea with TS5 (Project Rene) - but I digress. Anyways, The one mod that gives you that Open For Business experience/functionality, Sim State - The Sims 3 Open For Business Mini Expansion v1.4, is GONE. I was devastated because it's the one mod I can't play without. Thankfully, Wayback Machine was able to capture a fully functional download page over on MTS. Please download this mod while you can! Even if you don't play TS3, but you might in the future - store it in a folder somewhere. There's no telling when or if the creator will upload it again.

I rlly shouldn’t be sharing writing advice, bc I’m by no means an expert on it, but if I were to recommended anything, write shit down as you think about it.

My best ideas come to me at the most random moments, so I use my phone a lot, but writing things down as immediately as possible has absolutely improved my productivity. Even if it’s just a sentence, even if it’s rough as fuck, or doesn’t entirely make sense, write it anyway, you’ll thank yourself later.

a quiet little love letter to all the custom content creators out there that just fucking love their sims. who genuinely enjoy loading up their game and sharing their OCs, their builds, their gameplay screenshots on simblr.com. to the posemakers that create hundreds more poses they'll never release, just so they can tell their own stories exactly how they want. to the cas creators that take the love and time to make their sims uniquely theirs down to every tattoo and freckle. the badass build buy bitches that completely tear apart a world just to build it up in a way no one thought possible, converting and meshing things no one else would think of. i hope ya'll never stop flooding my dash with your passion and love. ♥

Why is the Sims community boycotting Curseforge?

I've seen a lot of posts going around calling on Simmers to stop using Curseforge, a modding platform that enables creators to monetize their downloads, with plenty of outrage directed toward modders and CC-makers who are still on the platform. But I've also seen a lot of people who are confused about why there are calls for a boycott.

Curseforge is owned by Overwolf, a company that is donating money to the IDF in support of its ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.

In late October/early November, Overwolf posted a graphic on their social media asking followers to "defend our defenders" by contributing financially to a fundraising drive for the IDF. They were met with backlash and quickly took the graphic down, replacing it with one that used language about raising money for "those effected by the violence in Gaza" (my phrasing may be inexact) but the money is still going to the IDF and not to any agency actually supporting civilians or doing humanitarian work.

If you are using Curseforge in any way -- by hosting your content there or downloading from it -- you are giving money to a company that is raising funds for an ongoing military campaign against a civilian population.

This is why people are calling for a boycott. If you are a modder or CC maker for the Sims, you should remove all of your content from the website and redirect people to other DL sources. If you are a consumer of mods and CC, you should stop clicking curseforge links and send (polite!) messages to modders and CC makers to urge them to pull their content from the site.

my simself is set to the male frame actually even though i've not begun medically transitioning yet at all (i don't work out either) because comparatively to some of my friends i've got broader shoulders anyways? i just made myself scrawny. okay my point is yes the sims 4 two frame cas system can be kind of restrictive but as long as you arent making all your sims look like barbie or ken dolls and allowing a bit of natural variation in build and bodytype then it actually matters very little as to what frame you use

I've noticed a trend of creators uploading custom content to curseforge, and either not linking it here on tumblr, or hiding those links. If you go to a download link and "rightclick -> copy link" and see that the link includes "forgecdn", that is a curseforge link. But bypasses the page and downloads the content immediately. Before you can even tell its a curseforge link.

A lot of creators are trying to use curseforge to host their content, and then hide this from their blogs or download posts, hoping you wont notice when the link takes you to a direct download from curseforge.

I'm back with an update for this post. Sadly, after 3 weeks, none of the blogs I approached about not reblogging posts with Curseforge links ever responded or took action.

But before I get to that, one thing I want to say about this is that some of the aggregate blogs out there have drawn the line at reblogging posts that include link shorteners or content that is still in the early access period, but can't find it in them to exclude direct or indirect links to Curseforge. Most of them aren't getting paid for running their blogs in any way, so they have no financial/livelihood stake in perpetuating the proliferation of Curseforge links across simblr, and yet...

I don't know if it's laziness, apathy, or ego, but, whatever the basis, the end result is still inhumane.

This, of course, is not to say that creators that still use Curseforge are absolved because they do have a monetary stake in it, but that the aggregators have such a low bar for advocating for the resistance and still cannot manage it. It's disheartening and makes me angry.

Anyway. I know there are loads of aggregate blogs out there, but I limited my list to ones that I actually use or follow. There are 2 others not listed here, but I haven't decided how to address them yet. That said...

POSING PRO TIP!

So I accidentally discovered this last night but played around with it more just now. You can pose with the in-game umbrella! All you have to do is click "open umbrella" (unless the Sim is already holding it automatically) and then queue up the pose(s) you want to use and voila! It seemed to work well with almost every conversational pose I tried, even over the shoulder and sitting ones. Maybe some people already knew this, but it's personally huge for me because it means not hunting down umbrella-specific poses or messing with extra accessories, and I thought I would spread the word. (By the way, I recommend these functional umbrella recolors to add a wider selection of colors and patterns!)

EDIT: There seems to be confusion why there is no 'Both' option. That's the point of a 'Which team are you on?' question. There's no way out. Wether you play with supernaturals or you don't. There is no 'both' ;)

If you like, you can add in the comments, why so. Or how your 'normal' Sims react on supernatural Sims. Do they peacefully live together side by side or are there conflicts? Or which other supernaturals do you want to see in the future. Or what else comes to your mind about supernaturals :3 (This same poll is also at the Official Sims Forum -> here)

In our game, we have the Council, an anti-creature organisation. They suppress the supernaturals and want to get rid of their powers (and them).

And then there is the Resistance. Creatures who help other creatures and act against the Council.

The Storyteller's Guild REBOOT - a simblr story discord

I made this server almost 18 months ago, but life got kind of busy and it fell to the wayside. But I've been DESPERATE to find like-minded simblrs. So, my best friend, who also helps mod this server, managed to persuade me to reboot this server and give it another chance at life, and we have some new ideas on how to make this server more active and involved!

Features:

A section for non-storytelling sims stuff including builds, CAS, edits, cc finds and wcifs.

Extensive storytelling section, including channels for worldbuilding, character development, story help, collabs, writing resources, and prompts.

Monthly (at least) writing and character development prompts! (also monthly CAS challenges, maybe??)

Sections for nonsims interests such as music, other video games, art, and reading!

Pet pics channel for your daily does of cute.
