Existential Crisis ๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿ’ญ
A continuous quest for meaning.
There are points in our lives when we ask ourselves what it is that we really wanna do.
The existential crisis has become a significant concern, particularly among millennials. Defined as a period of intense self-reflection and questioning of one's purpose, existence, and meaning in life, an existential crisis can have profound effects on individuals' mental well-being, identity formation, and life choices. For millennials, who are navigating a rapidly changing world characterized by economic uncertainty, technological advancements, and shifting societal norms, existential questions often loom large, exacerbating feelings of anxiety, disillusionment, and disconnection. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ญ
One key aspect of the existential crisis among millennials is the search for meaning in a world that seems increasingly fragmented and devoid of certainty. Raised in a society that emphasizes individualism and personal fulfillment, many millennials grapple with the pressure to find purpose and direction in their lives amidst a myriad of choices and possibilities. The existential quest for meaning often intersects with broader socio-economic challenges, such as precarious job prospects, mounting student debt, and unattainable housing markets, exacerbating feelings of existential angst and uncertainty about the future. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ผ
The pervasive influence of digital technology and social media has further complicated the landscape of existential crisis for millennials. While these platforms offer unprecedented opportunities for connection, self-expression, and information-sharing, they also foster a culture of comparison, validation-seeking, and FOMO (fear of missing out). Millennials often find themselves trapped in a cycle of constant comparison, measuring their worth and success against curated portrayals of others' lives, which can erode self-esteem and exacerbate feelings of existential emptiness and inadequacy. ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ˜”
In response to the challenges posed by existential crisis, especially among millennials, there is a growing recognition of the importance of fostering resilience, self-awareness, and holistic well-being. Practices such as mindfulness, therapy, self-reflection, and community-building can provide valuable tools for navigating existential questions and cultivating a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Efforts to address systemic issues such as income inequality, social injustice, and environmental degradation are crucial for creating a more equitable and sustainable world in which individuals can thrive and find meaning beyond material pursuits.
By acknowledging and addressing the impact of the existential crisis on millennials, we can work towards building a society that fosters authentic connection, personal growth, and collective flourishing. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒŸ

Whenever You Feel Lost, or Unmotivated โ€ฆ ๐ŸŒŸ
Whenever You Feel Lost, or Unmotivated โ€ฆ ๐ŸŒŸ
Always remember what you need to drive your sense of being. This is under an existentialist lens and perspective. To me, at least in a personal sense. What drives me are three main things. Autonomy, mastery, and purpose. ๐Ÿš€
In the intricate tapestry of human motivation, these few threads are as fundamental and compelling. These elements form the backbone of what propels us forward, driving us to pursue our goals, overcome challenges, and ultimately find fulfillment in our endeavors. Together, they constitute what psychologist Daniel Pink aptly refers to as the "building blocks of motivation." ๐Ÿงฑ
Autonomy: At its core, autonomy is the freedom to direct our own lives, and to make choices that align with our values and aspirations. It's the autonomy to steer our ship amidst the vast ocean of possibilities. When we feel a sense of autonomy, we're more likely to be intrinsically motivated, finding joy and satisfaction in the tasks we undertake. Whether it's in our professional pursuits, creative endeavors, or personal goals, autonomy empowers us to take ownership of our actions and chart our course. This focuses on your liberty to make sense or direction based on your values (e.g., vision and mission). ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ
Mastery: Mastery is the relentless pursuit of excellence, the drive to continually improve and refine our skills and abilities. It's the journey of mastery that fuels our growth and development, propelling us to push beyond our limits and strive for greatness. Mastery is not merely about reaching a destination but embracing the process, embracing setbacks and challenges as opportunities for growth. As we master new skills and conquer new challenges, we experience a profound sense of fulfillment and accomplishment that spurs us onward. This keeps us engaged with the aspects that evaluate the things that we can learn and practice. ๐ŸŽฏ
Purpose: This serves as the North Star that guides our journey as well as our personal endeavors. The deeper meaning and significance that infuse our actions with meaning and direction. It's the answer to the question of "why" we do what we do, providing a sense of clarity and conviction that fuels our determination. When we have a clear sense of purpose, we're able to weather the storms of adversity with resilience and grace, knowing that our efforts are part of something larger than ourselves. Purpose gives our lives meaning and imbues our actions with a sense of significance that transcends the mundane. ๐ŸŒŒ
Drive is the symphony of autonomy, mastery, and purpose working in harmony, each element enriching and amplifying the others. When we cultivate these pieces of drive in our lives, we unlock a reservoir of motivation and resilience that empowers us to pursue our passions with vigor and determination. So let us embrace the journey of self-discovery, embracing our autonomy, striving for mastery, and seeking out our purpose with unwavering dedication. It is in the pursuit of these ideals that we truly come alive, charting a course toward a future filled with purpose and fulfillment.
Remove one of these three, an individual will lose his/her drive and motivation. It's important to consider these three whenever we have a quest for meaning and address the role of our existence. ๐ŸŒˆ

How It All Started From False Hopes ๐ŸŒŸ
This is a personal story of mine. ๐ŸŒŸAnd ...
It all started with false hopes. ๐Ÿ˜”
โ€‹One of my high school teachers offered help for me to take an entrance exam. During my last days as a senior (4th year), I was wondering how my future would go. Unsure of what the future holds, whether I will go to college or not. The thoughts of not being able to study gushes like waves at high speeds. But the reality that the moment presents is that I CAN'T (financially). I was overwhelmed by finding all the means and resources that I could use to maximize that time. ๐Ÿ’ญ
I was able to take other entrance examinations to other universities both local and private from the earnings that I was able to collect. And fortunately, I passed. But it wasn't good enough. I haven't considered the transportation expenses as well as the extra money needed for food and internet access. This was one of my early financial constraints. No one was there to support me but myself. I CANNOT ENTER COLLEGE. Tuition fees that need to be settled every semester are costly. The chance of making my dream come true is to pass the entrance examination that my teacher asked me to take, which is also based on the student teacher who observed us at that time. ๐Ÿ’ธ
This mind-blowing thought of going to college, to me at least, is too ideal. I have this idea rushing as I walk the approximate 3-4 km distance from my place to school. I also imagine myself wearing school uniforms from different schools which I took entrance tests. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“š
Time Skip: Enter graduation ๐ŸŽ“
The school year ended, but still the mindset that I can no longer enter college is realistic enough that made me lose all the possible means and hopes. Two months have passed after the examination. It is around 5 pm when I decided to walk from my place to somewhere and decided to gaze at the list of passers.
In front of the university admissions building approximately 10 meters, I saw the bulletin board with almost 30-40 pages of paper with names from A to Z.
As I walk, my heart rushes.
tug dug
tug dug

The board becomes clearer and clear. I stood in front of it. And took a deep breath.

The nervousness increased
I browsed at M. Then, surprise. I saw my name. I qualified, I passed. This boosted my motivation to find means to enter college. But realty is too frank to make me realize that it is impossible. And it is the sad truth. ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Time flies, someone offered a help. I accepted it. I was able to push through. I gave up my work as a school canteener in the school where I obtained my high school diploma. ๐Ÿค
Finally I was able to enter college. I just wanted to finish my degree and uphold the dreams that I have during that time. I also imagined my self to graduate with Latin Honors. But 1st semester of my first year destroyed that dream. Hahaha! I received a grade of 2.75 in English 1. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ˜…
The sole reason is my tardiness - attendance affected my grade in the subject mentioned. The class starts at 7:30 am, and I arrive at 8:01 am. I struggled in academics, due to lack of interest (especially some of the gen ed subjects). I enjoyed the major subjects (physics, chemistry, and earth science). ๐Ÿ•’
Two years โ€ฆ Three years โ€ฆ Four years have passed. Time flies so fast. I felt that the content that I obtained is insufficient for me to become a fine astrophysicist. Since I also loved different learning opportunities outside the classroom. I met various people. I wanna become part of the community that they are in (and it is the science community). ๐ŸŒŒ
I suffered a lot, mental, emotional, and intellectual. My math and physics is insufficient. I jumped from high school physics to graduate physics which demands familiarity with (1) Differential equations, (2) Integral Calculus, (3) Trigonometry, (4) College and advanced Algebra, (5) Linear Algebra. ๐Ÿ”ข
So far so good, I was able to cope up, Not fully, but familiarity took time. I learned advanced math when I entered grad school. And Iโ€™m very thankful to learn so much things from great professors that shaped my view about the values of learning. The essence of passion, perseverance, and determination to chase your dreams. And dream further once you achieve a dream after dream. ๐Ÿ’ช
Sometimes, dream starts from false hopes. But when you turned that falseness into truth. We can essentially make things possible as long as you live the dream and take appropriate actions to turn it in to reality. Life itself is bounded by choices. It is our choice to become the person who we really wanted to be. This kind of existential crisis defines our very own existence. There should always be a start, there should always be a turning point. This will help you out reach point A to your desired point B. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ
Oh well gotta do some graduate student stuff. (By the way, I got shortlisted for the Ph.D. Astrophysics and Data Science - Artificial Intelligence program), hopefully, they'll reach out and fund my research proposal. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ”ญ
Yosh! ๐Ÿ’ช

Being Visionary ๐Ÿ”ฎ
We engaged in a casual conversation with the HR head. She posed the question, "How do you see your position in the few months to come?"
In a plain, honest, and exciting tone, I conveyed to her, "I envision my position as leading a standalone department that focuses on artificial intelligence and data science, offering innovative solutions to address our institutional challenges, and benefiting the company."
I am really up for a challenge. I am the kind of person who, when challenged, will give my best for the desired results to be achieved. My current position is based on the answer I provided. I want to establish something first before I leave. ๐Ÿ’ผ
Exploring further career opportunities is not off the table. And I view this as a stepping stone for my future career. Establishing a sense of fulfillment and leaving some legacy behind. ๐Ÿš€

The Art of Mind Management ๐ŸŽจ
I had a conversation with the OLD representative from the HR department where we exchanged casual chats and I suggested some books for her to read. This all happened when the upper management scheduled a tour within the vicinity of the company. I shared plenty of advice, hoping it would be beneficial for her. ๐Ÿ“š
Among the books I recommended was David Kadavy's "Mind Management, Not Time Management." Kadavy presents a compelling argument that challenges traditional views on productivity. He emphasizes that managing mental energy, not just time, is crucial for organizing and completing tasks effectively. โณ
Kadavy explores strategies for maximizing productivity in knowledge-based work environments, advocating for aligning tasks with mental states. Whether it's devising innovative strategies, crafting literature, or creating gardens, he emphasizes harnessing mental energy for optimal results. Where one should focus on their creative energy.๐Ÿ’ก
While Kadavy's concepts may seem abstract, he offers practical insights and a systematic framework for navigating them. Despite challenges in applying his ideas consistently, especially amidst life's unpredictability, his book sparks valuable discussions about the role of mental health in productivity. ๐Ÿง
Reflecting on the book's imperfections, it's clear that no productivity system is immune to life's complexities. However, by embracing Kadavy's principles with a realistic understanding of our limitations, we can strive for meaningful impact in work and life.
This was recommended to me by a colleague and I read this immediately. I'm grateful for the insights gained and committed to applying them as I navigate reality's complexities. ๐ŸŒŸ
And hopefully, the one that toured me learned something from me.

Piece of Advice from the Listening to Podcast ๐ŸŽง
When I was in the midst of a breakdown from my previous job, it was a challenging time for me. A friend of mine recommended the podcast "The KoolPals." It helped me cope since most of the jokes, punchlines, and experiences that they shared were actually the ones that I needed. They also motivated me to launch my podcast, which is an ongoing one. ๐ŸŽง
One of the most notable quotes I've heard is: "Don't focus solely on a comedian at their peak; much of their material is already well-polished and tested over time. Instead, pay attention to how they delivered jokes before they achieved success." This principle applies not only in the comedy setting but also in life, emphasizing the value of observing the journey and process rather than just the outcome. ๐Ÿค”
In relation to my recent experience, I received advice to report the following day. I actually did nothing; they provided the snacks, the food, and all the possible services that they could offer. Sooner, when I met the HR head, she told me that the first few days of my work would focus primarily on how the company operates. Consider it a transition period for me to acclimate to the new environment. They arranged visits to the closest branches. This marked my first experience entering this type of establishment, so I found myself somewhat taken aback by how it presented itself while also challenging some preconceived notions. ๐Ÿข
Meeting people and delving into their stories and personal journeys never fails to fascinate and surprise me. It's always surprising. I actually learned a lot, despite the hectic schedule that we followed. So as I start this new journey of mine, I have no other option but to embrace it, take the next few days as a challenge, and look at the job more in a positive sense than a stressful one. ๐Ÿค
So what is your takeaway? Embrace your journey, no matter where you start. ๐ŸŒŸ Every challenge you face is an opportunity to grow, learn, and, ultimately, thrive. Remember, your past does not define your future. Keep believing in yourself and your dreams. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Being Mindful of What We Can and Cannot Control ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ
It's essential to recognize and accept what we have power over and what we don't. ๐Ÿ”„ Life often presents us with circumstances beyond our control, but how we respond is entirely within our grasp. ๐Ÿ’ช Embracing this mindset can lead to greater peace and resilience. ๐ŸŒฑ
Things that I cannot control. When these things are uncontrollable, we can LET GO of them. ๐ŸŽˆ
Action of others ๐Ÿ‘ฅ
Predicting what will happen ๐Ÿ”ฎ
Other people's motives ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
How long this will last โณ

What Sunset Reminds Us ๐ŸŒ…
As the sun begins its descent, it casts a golden glow across the sky, reflecting in the sea. โœจ It offers some reminders. It reduces life's beauty in the simplest yet most profound way. ๐ŸŒ…
This is one of the chances to witness the sunset before I move on to one of the most challenging milestones of my life. Transitioning from academia to a corporate setting, I found myself captivated by its splendor. ๐Ÿ“šโžก๏ธ๐Ÿ’ผ The sky paints an abstract canvas with vibrant hues (e.g., streaks of orange, blue, and purple) with a fading blue aesthetic. It is a spectacle that never fails to evoke a sense of wonder and awe within me. ๐ŸŽจ
And with the upcoming challenge, in the midst of our busy lives, the sunset serves as a gentle reminder to pause and appreciate the world around us. ๐ŸŒ‡ It's a moment of liberation, yet it carries the promise of infinite possibilities. ๐ŸŒ  As the day drew to a close, we became acutely aware of life's impermanence and the significance of cherishing each moment. โณ
The beauty of the sunset is found not just in its visual allure, but also in the emotions it evokes within us. It is a time for reflection, for gratitude, and for finding solace in the simple joys of existence. ๐Ÿ’ญ Amidst chaos and uncertainty, the sunset becomes a beacon of hope, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, beauty still exists. ๐ŸŒŸ
In essence, the sunset is a testament to the inherent beauty of life itself. It reminds us that even amidst chaos and turmoil, we can still find beauty if we take the time to look. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting its final rays of light upon the world, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the gift of life and the beauty that surrounds us every day. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒ

How to use a semicolon ๐Ÿ˜‰
Semicolon is the most feared punctuation on earth. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
Why - what is the point? ๐Ÿค”
The most common way to use a semicolon is to connect two independent clauses. For example:
The ice cream truck man drove by my house today. He had big hairy knuckles. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿšš๐Ÿ’ช
The two statements are separated by a period. If read aloud it would go something like this:
The ice cream truck man drove by my house today. take a deep breath He had big hairy knuckles. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ
And with a semicolon, however, it would sound like this:
The ice cream truck man drove by my house today; he had big hairy knuckles. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ’ช
Basically, what we did was eliminate the pause between the two statements without using words such as and, but, nor, or yet.
How - how do I use a semicolon? ๐Ÿค”
If you have two independent clauses, meaning they could stand alone as their own sentences, it's ok to use a semicolon. For example:
My aunt also had hairy knuckles; she loved to wash and comb them. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฐ๐Ÿ’ช
The first statement is an independent clause, meaning it could stand alone as a complete sentence. Also, the second one could coexist without being attached to the first sentence.
Don't - don't use it with conjunctions. ๐Ÿšซ
Conjunctions are words like and, but, or, nor, for, so, and yet.
My aunt's hairy knuckles are indeed magnificent, but I have no desire to stroke them. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฐ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿšซ
A comma is used because there's a but separating the two clauses.
When - when should I use a semicolon? โฐ
I gnaw on old car tires, it strengthens my jaws so I'll be conditioned for bear combat. ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿป
Use a semicolon when you want to form a bond between two statements, typically when they are related to or contrast with one another. In the example above, the relationship between gnawing on tires and combating bears is strengthened by using a semicolon.
I fought the bear and won. Also, I never kiss plague rats on the mouth. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ€
In this sentence, your victory against the bear does not need to be connected to the plague rat, so a period is used.
Pause - semicolons have pause. โธ๏ธ
Comma: brief pause.
Semi-colon: moderate pause.
Period: complete stop.
Internal - use a semicolon to connect sentences that contain internal punctuation. ๐Ÿง
When dinosaurs agree on something, they'll often high five one another; dinosaurs are all about high fives. ๐Ÿฆ•๐Ÿฆ–๐Ÿค
Super - use a semicolon as a super-comma. ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ
while searching for a good place to get a unicorn burger, I traveled to Seattle, Washington; Tokyo, Japan; and London, England. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ
Use a semicolon if you need to make a list of items that are separated by a comma. This often occurs when listing locations, names, dates, and descriptions.
My favorite people include Samuel, a famous unicorn hunter; my uncle Wilford, a word champion at mayonnaise eating contests; and Nikola, the most awesome dude to ever fire a lightning bolt at an angry peasant. ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ”ฅ
That's how to use a semicolon.

Last Jog As Unemployed๐Ÿƒ
Side story:
I was expecting that I would start my work this Monday. I waited for the hiring process to conclude, and I was also anticipating that I would be receiving my contract this week. Then last Wednesday, Sir Val called me, asking if I was already in the building, and he decided to pay a visit. ๐Ÿ“ž
"Where are you?"
I told him, "Hello, sir, I am not in the company; I'm still waiting for the final contract."
Then he replied that he would coordinate with the HR department so that I could report immediately. My HR handler messaged me and instructed me to start the next day. So when I confirmed the schedule, I decided to join my lab colleague as we jogged along Roxas Boulevard. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Random Letter (to self) โœ‰๏ธ
Dear self, ๐Ÿ“
You will grow old. Under various circumstances. It is, in fact, inevitable. โณ Over time, exposure to the effects of time and gravity can gradually lessen your fear of aging. As you age, you may come to realize some of the challenges that come with it. Your baby fats grow; your bills grow; your expenses grow; and your responsibilities grow. It's lovely to imagine that when we are kids, we want to grow old. And now that we are old, we want to become kids again. But it's impossible. You'll imagine such a perfect world. As you grow, you'll gain wisdom. You will learn a lot of important life lessons. You will become wiser. Your priorities are going to change drastically. To prevent causing harm to the important people in our lives, it's important to be mindful of the things we need to avoid. You will strive earnestly to become the best husband to your future wife and the best father to your future sons and daughters. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ
You will create the best version of yourself that other people might look at in terms of your own potential. It happens so slowly that you don't notice it at all. Please marvel more at what you have, not what you don't. That will lead to more difficult thoughts about aging. Especially when we aren't content with or satisfied with what we already have. You don't want to grow older, but you can't become any younger. You just have to enjoy it. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Our age changes, along with our wants, needs, etc. At first, you dreamed of becoming an astronaut. However, that changed into a political scientist; into a lawyer; into a science teacher; and finally into your dream to become an astrophysicist. You desired too much to make your name heard. We worked too much, we studied too much, and you researched too much. Out of those "too many," what you received (and even accepted) were frustrations and disappointments. At times, you may disregard those who care for you, convincing yourself that "they will never understand." This tendency is one of the worst things you can do. You pushed them back when they wanted to hear you out. Did it make you happy? Absolutely no. ๐Ÿ˜”

Finding Balance โš–๏ธ
How do you prioritize self-care in a busy and chaotic world? ๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŒช๏ธ๐Ÿค”
This week has been one of my busiest since I received the notification of my acceptance for the job I applied for. ๐Ÿ“ฉ It was really hard for me to find even a few moments of peace. It's like trying to find a single needle in a crowded market square. ๐Ÿงต The sheer number of deadlines, schedules, and commitments can overwhelm your daily timetable, not to mention the constant stream of demands you face. โฐ Self-care often takes time to be prioritized. And amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, putting ourselves first and prioritizing self-care is not just a luxury; it's a necessity for maintaining our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก
Self-care encompasses a range of practices that nurture our mind, body, and spirit. It's about taking intentional steps to recharge and replenish ourselves so that we can show up as our best selves in every aspect of our lives. ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช From getting enough sleep and eating nourishing foods to engaging in activities that bring us joy and relaxation, self-care lays the foundation for a balanced and fulfilling life. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽ
In a world that glorifies busyness and productivity, prioritizing self-care can feel like a radical act of rebellion. ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ฅ We may feel guilty for taking time for ourselves or worry that we're falling behind if we're not constantly hustling. ๐Ÿ˜“ However, it's essential to recognize that self-care isn't selfishโ€”it's an act of self-preservation. ๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒฟ
So how can we prioritize self-care in a world that never seems to slow down?
Set Boundaries ๐Ÿ›‘
Schedule Self-Care ๐Ÿ“…
Practice Mindfulness ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ
Find Joy in the Everyday ๐Ÿ˜Š
Listen to Your Body ๐Ÿ‘‚
In a world that never seems to stop, prioritizing self-care is an act of self-preservation. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’† By setting boundaries, scheduling self-care, practicing mindfulness, finding joy in the every day, and listening to your body, you can find balance amidst the chaos and cultivate a life that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit. โœจ๐Ÿ’– Remember, you deserve to prioritize your well-beingโ€”it's not selfish, it's essential. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ
