𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: swearing, fights, arguing, self-doubt, mentions of not sleeping.

frustration was prickling through iwaizumi’s joints, making the tip of his fingers ache with the urge to bash them into something solid, just to get rid of the annoying feeling. 

not only had oikawa’s egotistical façade and remarks ticked him off, he had assignments piling up on his desk back at home, not a single bit of content included in them resonating with iwaizumi. 

he couldn’t even remember when they learnt anything about that topic. but he knew he only had himself to blame. iwaizumi was more than ready to lay down and forget about everything the day had thrown at him, but he knew those assignments weren’t going to do themselves.

he pushed the door open to his shared apartment, the comforting smell of food greeting him all most immediately. you peeked your head around the corner, a cheery smile on your face.

“hey, how was your day?” you asked as you walked over to him as he shrugged off his gym bag, eyes downcast towards the floor.

it was nothing but the normal routine; greeting him with a smile and a warm hug. so why did it only make iwaizumi’s frustration grow?

he answered with a simple grunt, too exhausted to answer properly. he tensed as your arms wrapped around his torso, his chest rising as he sucked in a deep breath.

“that bad, huh?” he acknowledged you with a simple pat to your back before he moved deeper into the apartment. your eyebrows creased with slight hurt as iwaizumi walked away from you. “did oikawa really mess up or something?”

“no.” he answered bluntly, shrugging of his jacket to throw it over the couch’s armrest. 

the atmosphere felt awkward; uneasy silence settling over the two of you as he kept his back towards you. you immediately began to feel anxious  – had you done something wrong? was he going to end things?

“i-i…i made you dinner, if you’d like to have some with me?” you did your best to strike up another conversation, making your way over to him with a bright smile. his dull eyes sharply stared down at you, your chest tightening with a sharp pang at the coldness hidden behind them. “or…we could watch a movie? there’s this new one–”

“oh my god, just stop, y/n.”
