*EDITED with the correct room number so it makes SENSE!
SO -o-o...maybe, just maybe, there was a Room 408 Room 208 at the World's Foremost International School Of Masked Wrestling containing some up and coming luchadores of a different kind with a different skill set?
(Obviously not connected to ML! in any every way shape or form nope. Would I even imply that? Me?) YES!
Also thinking of adding THIS GUY...
Cue, The Prodigy: 'He's a fire starter, twisted fire starter...'
Some unrefined designs...please don't look too closely at the linework just yet! There's an idea and story developing here...maybe it will go somewhere. All I know is that I am having more guilty fun than I should be working on these misfits!

Overlooking the dodgy linework, I'm happy with how Rayo X's 'Socorro' design is looking. For me it's all about the shape: I want him to be curvy and fluid, as opposed to the 'blocky' Rayo we designed for Los Campeones. I feel this design will in turn lend itself to more fluid animation.
Rayo and his mentor/maestro. He does have a name, but I'm still unecided about the final version of it.
I remember being at one of those Joe Barbera Birthday celebrations at WB Animation, and the great character designer Iwao Takamoto telling us that the Jetsons' designs were based on spoons! Shapes! I remember looking at my co-creator Lili Chin, and we were both...'Yeah I get it...I can see that'.

Favor! Super Lucha!
Hey can I ask a favor? As I've posted, the creators of Super Show The Game have asked me to collaborate on a version called Super Lucha!
At the moment it is in its infancy. If anyone is interested, could you please put your notification details at the link below? It's not a commitment to kickstart the project, heaven forbid - just a gauge of how much interest is out there.
Many thanks! -Eddie

Absence Of Camera.
Because there was no camera function in Macromedia Flash, camera moves had to be contrived by motion-tweening the entire scene, as seen in this example.

Update from the Luchaverse
I'll just leave this here...
It's been a hectic few weeks...pitches/presentation videos, character designs and descriptions for the Super Lucha! boardgame. Plus I was a full time dance chaperone for the past week as my daughter was performing in the Sussex Festival Of Performing Arts 100 Year Anniversary Gala with 524 other dancers from all over England!!!
And I still managed to eke out a rough for Rudopolis (I always have to have a project going).
For those interested, some details...
Socorro and Chilandokko Gumi Strong Style Mash Up! have been pitched and presented to a US streaming network. Waiting on a decision. It's all good so far, but you really can't count on anything until a contract is offered. I'm hopeful, but have had assurances in the past...let's wait and see! :)
I have completed character designs for Super Lucha! The company producing this uses Kickstarter to get their projects off the ground, so there will be a page up and running soon where everyone can see what shape and form this is taking. Having seen the first version of the page, it is VERY ML!-inspired. :)
Looks very probable that Los Campeones de La Lucha Libre may be also streaming at some point. More details if this actually happens!
So a lot of maybes and probables...but that's how life in animation has been for me for 24 years now! Let's see what the next few weeks bring...I'm realistic about everything, but can't help being excited!

Luchadome Version 2.0
I designed this in the image of the arena's most vocal patron for the special 'Rise Of The Undercard' short.
I started in Macromedia Flash 8, with the basic design, always keeping the lady herself close by for reference...
I then imported some images of textures and cut them to shape...
Next I drew some shadows...
The great - and mostly overlooked - feature of Flash 8, was that you could apply BLENDS to integrate the textures with the colors of your design...
I then brought the arena into ToonBoom Animate Pro and added the rest - characters, lights, blurs...etc.

I think that of the countless character designs done for Mucha Lucha! this might be my absolute favorite...
I mean, how DO you design a snake-themed luchador? The form, the pose, the shape, the minimal-but-just-right-for-animation detail...genius.
My one regret is that I only have this scan from a WB printout and not the original Flash .FLA. Hopefully it still exists somewhere on one of Lili's external hard drives.

Big news...I have entered into an agreement with SRG Universe, creators of Supershow - The Game, to design SUPER LUCHA.
(Yes, it will be in the same style of that lucha libre cartoon we all know and love ;)
Super Lucha - it's a way game of life dice
