Mark can’t take his eyes off you.
He can’t believe he got this lucky, he can’t believe you’re this beautiful, this ethereal; his stare burns through you and pins you in place. His gaze is so feral and yet so soft for you — it makes you shiver. His bright eyes drink you in like you’re the only thing that ever mattered in this world, the only thing that mattered to him; he wants to be the only one for you, now, and forever.
He walks up to the edge of the bed and sits at your feet, reaching out to massage them softly. You cock your head in mild surprise, but don’t question it  — this was one of those days when Mark liked to take his time, worshiping every inch of what belonged to him. His smile mirrors yours as he pulls himself further up the bed, settling between your legs and running his hands down your thighs.
“What am I supposed to do?” he asks, leaning forward, pressing his forehead to yours. “How am I supposed to know anything when you look like this?”
You run your fingers along the nape of his neck. Mark lets out a long sigh and you absently wonder how tired he was. Your hands run along his toned arms, gently coaxing him closer to you. Mark pulled away slowly, his eyes taking in every tiny detail of your face as if memorizing it, and it embarrassed you somehow.  He smiled when he saw the color tinting your cheeks, taking it as an excuse to press feather light kisses on your face.
“You’re gonna make me forget who I am,” Mark mumbled, still grinning, “Are you going to take responsibility for who I’m about to become?”
“Who do you want to be?”
Mark scoffs at your words.
As his lips find yours, his answer melts on your tongue — yours.

[11:36 pm]
The room was soaked in a deep moonlight blue.
There was no sound save for the ticking of the clock, which steadily shifted towards midnight.
Mark was asleep when you came in, wrapped up in the comforters. His hair fell softly over his forehead — a shock of black against the white of the pillows.
Mine, you thought. Mine, mine, mine.
Mark stirred as you walked over to him, and reached out to push his hair out of his face. He leaned into your touch, sighing when you left a kiss on his forehead. There was nothing else and yet you felt like you couldn't breathe. He fell back asleep. You walked over to your side of the bed, making yourself comfortable under the sheets that all smelled like him. Mark turned over and wrapped his arms around you, all warmth and long legs. You could think of nothing but him.
All yours, you thought. Yours, yours, yours.

— years & years
“did you miss me?”
it was very like Mark for that to be the first thing he asked you after seven years.
everything revolved around him.
when you both met in middle school, you started to learn how to skateboard and play video games and dance simply because Mark liked to do them.
in high school he wanted to study, so you did too. you aced olympiads and mock tests just the same, and you did it because Mark saw you as his rival, and there was no way you would be anything less than the best for him.
so when he decided to throw everything you had together away to follow what sounded like some mindless passion that he found halfway across the world, seven years ago you didn't have the heart to tell him to stay.
what would i be without you? your heart had nearly beat out of your chest.
don't go. you hugged him goodbye at the airport. don't go somewhere i can't see you.
but that was seven years ago. you laughed politely now.
“I did.”
Mark had gotten way taller and insanely more confident. you would have walked straight past him on the street now, but seven years ago you would have recognized him blindfolded.
“you look great.” he said. “it's been such a long time, but you're still the same.”
you smiled at him. how could you tell him that your world had been put on hold for him? how could you have done that to yourself? you stayed the same because you were sure he was going to come back. you sat here in your delusion that maybe, like you had, he would realize that what he truly wanted was to be back home with you.
“and you look... happy,” you said, hoping the word didn't sound as sour to his ear as it tasted on your tongue.
Mark didn't catch it. he grinned instead and launched into a ramble about how cool it was to finally be able to live his dream - you stopped listening as soon as he started.
he had never once looked at you the way you wished he did, while you bent over backwards trying to get even a scrap of his attention. and for what? he ended up following his dream - something you didn't even know he had. a nagging question remained at the tip of your tongue. did he not tell you on purpose? did he think this was just somewhere you couldn't see him?

Hi!💞 have you kept up with the comeback? Sadly I haven't kept up because of homework 😭
Hello~ I've managed to somehow barely keep up with NCT this past year, but now that I have finally settled into my job I can fully afford to give them all my attention again!
Don't worry too much about not keeping up with them, I know you love them all the same still ❤️
Thank you so much for your wishes, I hope I can persuade you to stay a bit longer.

It has been an year since I took a break from this account.
It was a tumultuous year — the final semester of my undergrad, an internship, projects, graduating and interviews, and finally landing my very first job — it has been a most tiring, humbling and rewarding year.
and all this time I have missed you all so much. I have hoped that you have had an year that blessed you with many opportunities and has given you much to reflect about. I have missed you so much.
so I wondered how I should come back, and even if I had it in me to come back and write for you as I have before, when Mark released Child.
He has, all of last year, been my Polaris.
I will take that as my sign to keep him in my heart a little longer and to share my daydreams with you again. I hope you will look forward to my works. I promise I will keep my doors wide open for you.
Sorry for taking so long to come back to you, and thank you for receiving me once again.
