“ this is pure natural protein, sara, I’m sorry you’re not used to taste, ” hannah shook the eggs & kale in the pan, trying to flip it & failing miserably. it wasn’t often she got to cook while they were on the road. finding a hotel with a kitchen that didn’t use up all their gas money + more was a one in a million chance, and it just so happened they’d grabbed it. she seized the opportunity as soon as they set pulled into the town, stocking up on some groceries that’d save them from another week of junk food & garbage. she grabbed the package of paper plates out of her bag with one hand, maneuvering the pan with the other. “ we need our energy if we’re gonna take down idaho’s biggest gas station fraud scheme. ”

"Hannah," Sara's voice was firm as she clutched onto her friend's forearm with both hands, staring her dead in the eye. "A puppy room opened up for finals. We're going. Right now." / safefromsin (college times ye)
to put it lightly, finals were kicking her ass.
hannah’s desk was covered with papers and textbooks, all overlapping with one another in some teetering mess that resembled a modern art piece she’d seen once in the campus gallery. the trash bin was overflowing with crushed coffee cups from her and sara both, the most recent resupply sitting cold on top of her now stained “intro to philosophy” study guide. on top of it all was the woman herself, dozing lightly on her laptop keyboard, “DSJK,]FLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL” typing itself away on her last biology lab.
when sara grabbed her arm hannah jumped up, nearly knocking her chair and her friend over in the process. it took her a few moments to process the words, a short exhale of relief leaving her lips when she connected the sentence. she reached up to her face to swipe the hair from her face, nodding, knowing fully well the determination in sara’s eyes couldn’t be diverted.
