Art Journal Entry No. XIV: Refining my artwork
Tumblr media
April 26, 2021 3:00 PM
Painting
Critical Evaluation:
Technical and Creative - need to add specific object to understand the context.
Creative - has a creative combination of the direction pole and the buildings but need to be specific of the place.
Cultural and Historical - the Statue of Liberty on the side. It symbolized freedom and democracy of the United States.
Critical Approach - the artwork should have more elements and principles of design.
Aesthetic Approach - expression of the artwork are not enough.

Art Journal Entry No. XIII: Soul-Making
Tumblr media
April 14, 2021 12:42 AM
This photo collage is not enough to represent my soul. I wanted to add more but I think it is going to be redundant. That's why, I chose what really represents me.
The first picture is my bikini picture. If you'd asked me, I really love to swim and to strike a pose with my bikinis. I have s lot of beach/pool picture but I did not include those already.
The second picture is me & my brother together with my dogs, Zoe and Pony. Funny things is before I made this art journal entry, I cried because I miss my dog Ginger who passed away last year. I just happen to saw a picture of him and started to cry. I really love dogs and my dogs are very precious to me.
Third picture is my friends. I cherish my friends so much. I have a lots of circle but these three that I love the most stood out among all of them.
The fourth picture is my KPOP boys. This is ENHYPEN. I just recently stan them but I really love them already, I even pre-order their upcoming album! Who would have thought that? I really like KPOP and I love many groups.
Lastly, my picture with a violet and pink hair. Coloring my hair become my hobby this quarantine. I already colored my hair 6 times! Crazy right? But nevertheless, I love it. I have no regrets and will continue to do more.

Art Journal Entry No. XII: Local Arts
April 17, 2021 5:20 PM
Before doing this art journal entry, I did my own research and this is what I've came up with. In my own opinion, as we can see on the art work, the person swallowed (well, for me) a lot of dopamine drugs. Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter. It's generated by your body, and it's used by your nervous system to communicate between nerve cells. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps us feel good. It's an essential part of our ability to think and prepare as humans. The person swallowed a lot of it because he wanted to feel the sensation of joy or excitement, as well as strong feelings of well-being and satisfaction, that's according to the title which is the meaning of Euphoric. Until the person got overdosed just like in the picture because of countless drugs. A lot of people may feel the same when they see this artwork because a lot of us wanted to feel that kind of feelings once in a while. They also wanted to be happy. Specifically, in this time if pandemic. A lot of us got depressed, has developed anxiety, etc. We all just wanted the same thing, which is happiness. For me, I really don't have any recommendations to the artwork because it's perfect the way it is. Lastly, in my own opinion, this is really effective to the community. It makes us feel that we're not alone in this hard times. Like, we are all the same, we shared the same feeling. It is effective because it somehow gives us an accompany just while looking at this artwork.

Ethnic Era: Basketry
Tumblr media
Following the Spanish-American War in 1898, the United States took control of the Philippines, which had a large basket-making tradition. Rural residents grew their own basket-making materials and made baskets to sell in towns. The shared need for baskets in the United States and the strengthening of the Philippine economy led to the establishment of basket weaving schools. Since the only books on the subject were about Native American baskets, schools taught Filipinos how to make traditional Indian baskets. Native Filipino weavers eventually became teachers, and both diverse ranges of styles found a new home in the United States, as well as a ready market. Today, the Philippines are a big basket-making hub.

The Philippines' mosques share a common architectural characteristic with its Southeast Asian neighbors. It was used in the construction of the first types of mosques and is made of light materials such as wood, bamboo, and cogon grass. However, these light materials did not last long. Today's mosques, on the other hand, are structurally modeled after their Middle Eastern counterparts. The Philippines' oldest mosque, founded in Mindanao in 1380, is undergoing renovations to retain its religious and historical significance. The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has set aside US$980,000 for the reconstruction of the building, as well as the construction of a nearby cultural center and an access road to the site. In Manila's Coliseo Artistico on Arroceros (formerly Veriadades) st. near Mehan Garden, the first zarzuela was performed in 1878. The first Filipino authors to compose this musical play in Spanish and their native languages were Pascual Poblete, Pedro Paterno, and Severino Reyes. Zarzuela is a Spanish lyric-dramatic genre in which spoken and sung scenes alternate, with the latter combining operatic and traditional songs as well as dance. In the Philippines, it is also known as sarswela/sarsuela and has a long history.

De la Rosa led the student body in petitioning the government to organize the quadrennial contest for the Madrid Art Academy pensionadoship in June of 1896. The authorities accepted the petition, but the Revolution put a stop to its execution for the next two years. A statue of Filipina Comfort Women was on display along Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard in Manila. It was dedicated to the Filipino "comfort women" who served in military brothels during World War II, including those who were tricked into doing so. It was unveiled on December 8, 2017 and installed with the support of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and other donors and foundations. After its installation in Manila, it has received both praise and criticism from interested groups and government agencies. Contemporary Era: The Fishermen
Tumblr media
Ang Kiukok, a national artist and one of the most prominent exponents of Philippine figurative expressionism, developed a body of work that focused on a small group of subjects. In Ang's visual world, hope and struggle coexisted, and nowhere is this more evident than in his paintings of fishermen, of which he painted just a few. The struggle in the attenuated limbs and determined visages of the two human beings working together as they haul a net of plenty is tangible, emphasized by the diagonal action lines that converge in the middle of the canvas. As it hovers over this scene, a crimson sun, a favorite modernist compositional device, takes on new significance - an emphatic sign of constancy and eternal energy.

This artwork of mine is very random. I just happened to saw a puncher that has a design in my drawer and an idea pops into my mind. I always saw a lot of artwork in the internet and they are showing how it's done. That's why, I made something like that. I painted the whole bond paper using coffee. Then, I used a unused paper to punch this maple leaf. After I painted the whole paper using coffee, I then scattered all the maple leaf and started painting using a brown and white paint that is mixed together. After that, I gently remove all the maple leaf using a 'tiane' so that I will not ruin the paint by touching it with my hand. I personally like the outcome of this artwork because it turns out the way I wanted it to be.

My favorite artist of all times is One Direction. Ever since 2011, a year after they are formed to be a group, I'm a very very avid fan of them. I love them so much and their songs are just wonderful and out of this world. Even though they are currently on a 'hiatus' as of now and already have their own solo, I still believe that they're still coming back. *crossed fingers!*
These 5 songs are my top favorites because obviously I love all their songs and I just had to pick 5! These songs has a deep meaning for me and I will enumerate it one by one.
1. Don't Forget Where You Belong - this song has a big impact to me because it all says on the title. Do not ever ever forget where you belong, always be grateful on where you are right now but always look back and don't forget where you came from.
2. Right Now - this simply says that always cherish the time you are spending with someone, it's either your friends, family, or it could be your partner in life.
3. A.M. - I don't know, I just LOVE this song so much. It just give a whole new beginning or hope vibes. Which is true by the way because in every morning there's hope. Just like we always say, "everyday is another day".
4. Night Changes - we really don't know how fast the night changes, so! cherish every moments that we have and never waste it! Live your life to the fullest until you have no regrets left.
5. Little Things - I also love this song so much because I myself, pay attention to the smallest things. Like little things can make me happy at all and it's that all matters.

Title: Messy Floral Art
In this artwork, I used coffee and water color to paint this messy themed floral art. To trace the outline, I used a marker to emphasize the flowers. It's really messy for me but I think it's okay because that's the whole point of my artwork. I just draw anything that my hands want me to. It was fun doing this artwork for the 5th entry of our art journal. I feel like the inner artist of me is peeking out haha!
I chose floral because when I look up on the internet what's the meaning of it, this is what I saw. According to One Tribe Apparel (2019), the sense of the Flower of Life symbol is that it is thought to reflect the creation cycle. It illustrates how all life originates from a single source, which is symbolized by the circle in the center of the pattern. It really does capture my attention because I like what's the meaning of it. That's why, I chose this design for my artwork.

International Artisan
Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni is a international artisan. He is a painter, sculptor, and architect. Since I was in grade school, I already knew him. Everytime we had an art projects or activities, I always drew his painting which is the "The Creation of Adam". I don't know but it really captured my attention that's why I looked up to him on the internet and get to know him more and his art works.
His focus are paintings, sculpture, architecture, and drawings. He works with different art forms. According to Artble, Michelangelo learned the technique of painting frescoes at the age of thirteen while working in Ghirlandaio's workshop, and he always said that he preferred to work with frescoes over oil paints. Michelangelo guarded the drawings he made in preparation for his works with his life.

"A w-HOLE new me"
Subject: Myself
This artwork of mine symbolises the new version of my self. From the title itself, "a whole new me". I emphasize the word "hole" because ss you can see, the materials that I used are hole-punches. It is from used colored paper that are mostly leftovers. In this picture, my hair is dyed blue because in this year 2021 I'm exploring a lot. I wanted to rry new things and wanted to step out of my comfort zone. Last year, I lost interest in a lot of things that's why this year I'm trying to get back my old self. Not just bringing back my old self but also molding a different self. A w-HOLE new self.
I hope this year, I'll finally be able to explore lot of things and hopefully to get to know more about myself. I would like to work things out the way thay I wanted it to be. Just like this artwork. I like how does this artwork turn out. Because I worked hard for it, I put an effort to it, I spent my time working on it to be perfect (well, for me). Hopefully, I can apply that on my everyday living. The second picture that I attached is the actual picture that I based from.

This artwork is a song entitled, Life Goes On and the artist is BTS a KPOP group. I may not be their hardcore fan but I always love to listen to their songs. This song is their recent release and I played it more than a hundred times a day. This song really captured my attention and the real meaning behind it. It says that their whole new album means a "message of healing".
This song is very connected to me personally because my life isn't that great. My life is a roller coaster ride and while in the middle of the ride I'd always wanted to give up. I simply don't want to continue my life anymore because I just can't seem to know what's the purpose of it. But then, this song got released and it tells me that I need to go on. Any obstacles and challenges that we, I, are facing right now our life needs to goes on. It tells me that any of these has a purpose and that I can surpass it eventually, little by little, step by step.
For me, this song is aesthetically beautiful. But then it's just aesthetic. Because when we listen to the song, the message on it can be connected to our own feelings or life experiences. And that's its aesthetic, it's how we acknowledge the element or the feature that supply value to our musical sensibilities.

Art Journal Entry No. 1: Sribbling Soul
Tumblr media
January 23, 2021 10:30 PM
The image that is formed in my scribble is a Swan. For me, Swan is a very beautiful water bird. It reminds me of our world that we currently live in. Even though the world today is very cruel, not the world that we're used to, I still see the beauty in it. It is because the Swan symbolises beauty, love, and elegance. Swan is not that much related to me because I know that I'm not that beautiful but I can still be elegant and I give a lots of love to others.
By creating this piece, of course, I used my creativity and imagination. At first, I immediately noticed the Swan in my scribble because my art work has formed a lot of circles and oval shapes and a Swan immediately appears on it. That's how I used my imagination. After that, I colored it using black and red in an ombre style. Most commonly a Swan has a white color and it reminds me of a hair base level before applying a dye and a white Swan is pretty much a perfect base level before dyeing. I also emphasized the shape and the scribbles on it using a black pen.
