it sucks because tumblr used to be a place for inspiration and creativity for me, and it just hasn't been that for so long. and it took me longer than it should've to realize that it's not what it used to be

Part of what's exhausting is that Matt isn't unique. He's not some unique locus of transphobia and transmisogyny. We've all met some guy like this before, and we will meet him again. We all know this song and dance. It's exhausting.

but i mentioned that in my post because so many black trans women have gotten removed from this site for their sex work alone, regardless of if it "broke community guidelines" or not, especially when tumblr live and the ads on this website are so fucking horny. idek what to say rn because like. this wont get as many notes as the posts talking about her will. the exploding car thing is gonna get more attention than the trans women on this site you dont actually care about listening to. ive been talking about how unfair it is to be a black tgirl on this site for years and nobody cares.

Being complicit in mass harassment campaigns against trans women isn't enough for Matt anymore. I think the tumblr ceo's biggest problem is that he actively identifies as 'anti-bigotry', seeing it as something he is rather than something he does. so now when everyone is calling him transmisognystic (and I don't disagree) he says "no, I can't be! I love trans people!" because "if I'm transmisogynistic, how can I identify as a trans ally?"

basically people need to stop putting their identity as an ally before actual solidarity and allyship. it is not a personal slight to say "hey you're using your power primarily over trans women which is bad, can you stop?" just because it bruises your ego

Act disabled.

Stop telling yourself you're acting more disabled than you are.

Crawl to clean your room, use a wheelchair when you're "only" at level 3 pain, wear all the wraps and ice packs

Allow yourself to act disabled and you'll see that it helps you a whole lot when you allow yourself to use any and all tools

I think the baeddel thing is due to certain transmisogynstic trans people calling them that as a shorthand for “terfs but trans women instead of cis ones” as a way to shut down their arguments. Which is a thing I have seen. And I mean it is technically a slur? As in a disparaging word based on identity. Like how “feminazi” and “theyfab” and “pansy” are slurs. Not as historically serious but still under the definition

yeah i mean, i have seen people continue to use "baeddel" to refer to "trans-inclusive radical feminist lesbian separatist" as well, primarily because they seem to have only encountered the term on tumblr, in the context of referring to that specific group of self-id'd baeddels. it's not necessarily inaccurate to refer to such rhetoric as "baeddelism," i would just argue that it's not useful to do so, as there's multiple entirely distinct ideological groups described by "baeddelism" and some of their ideological premises directly contradict lesbian separatism by definition. also, there's trans-inclusive radfem lesbian separatist groups that have the exact same politics as that particular tumblr group, but have no connections to tumblr whatsoever and don't claim the term, so it's not like the rhetoric is uniquely described by "baeddelism."

i don't really get into "what counts as a slur" discourses, because i consider them profoundly silly and not really useful. but yes, it was almost definitely a highly derogatory term for intersex people, and most likely was used to refer to various cultural analogues to trans people as well (particularly as the groups have not always been distinct).

it's insane the way tumblr keeps shooting itself in the foot then going "owie! oh ouch owie zowie..... ohh someone neees to buy me bandaids or I'll bleed out and die, you don't want me to bleed out and die do you??" meanwhile the entire userbase keeps saying "maybe don't shoot yourself in the foot" and then tumblr starts crying and flags/bans another trans woman

screenshotted bc I don't feel comfortable posting this uncensored but yeah, I get how upsetting it is, and I'm glad you can recognize your thought as bad! but I think it's really important to keep in mind that lashing out isn't going to help things. it may be cathartic, but the cost outweighs any temporary benefit tbh

I think it might help to seek out more spaces that aren't toxic about trans men & mascs and try to avoid things that you know will make you upset. I'd recommend blocking certain words in posts with tumblr's filters if you think it'll help

I'd also recommend trying to spend some more time doing something you enjoy, if you find yourself getting upset on social media it can be good to redirect your attention to something that helps you calm back down and retain your sanity. try to take care of yourself more than other people can tear you down

even something as simple as a pen and paper or ms paint or a drawing app on your phone can be great when you're frustrated and need an outlet, even just a bunch of scribbles and shapes can feel so good to get out

it sucks that we have to take extra care of ourselves and find ways to manage our emotions like this, but it helps a lot I promise!! you deserve to feel good about yourself and have coping skills that work for you
