Rap On Life...

Ring in the new year with the three “ettes” reflecting on their diminishing French village. Sometimes it’s like living in a museum over here. The past is always better and change is fought tooth and nail. The younger “selves” are from a school play I filmed in Tuburon, California. This is another of my “slice of life videos” with a dash of surrealism thrown in.

L.A. to France 2001-2016

This ‘give it all ya got’ French pop duo performed at our village fete this past summer. And it just so happens that my family was visiting our old friend Libby from L.A., who now has her own family in France, when this party happened. That is Libby and myself riding the house in Venice Beach of the rot gut liquors which I had on my shelves from past journeys overseas that were never drank. A bit of a fools dance.

Audrey’s friend Claudia gives a hip hop performance in the grenier (attic). Audrey and Claudia met 10 years ago at maternelle (pre-school) in St Cere. Claudia is currently residing in London but still visits frequently. She’s got a real knack for accents. Game of Thorns       April, 2016      Brive La Gaillard, France

Talk about a good sport. Audrey slogged 18 baskets (corbeilles) with me (Coco too - sometimes the grass was higher then he is) and played most of them as well. The past years living in Marin county I became crazy for this sport, disc golf (It’s like a hike with some competition on the side). This course in Brive (where Audrey was born) is a real gem, but nobody seems to play it. I contacted the Brivista disc golf association to arrange for some guys to meet me at the course.I love the typical French expressions of disgust on these guys faces when they throw. The demographic of players is a bit different from the one I encountered in California. I don’t think they’d be too appreciative of my tendency too take so many extra shots (every disc in the bag) and my generally annoying histrionics.

Duck love for friends and family of Keith Emerson (left in Pic) who tragically passed. Rockin classical and pub style. shooting lasers from his hand held moog extension in the early 70′s at the Savannah Civic Auditorium. Musicianship at it’s finest. and ELP spawned punk rock (backlash against so called Progressive rock) which eliminated disco forever (although I do miss the polyester leisure suits)  “Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, Come inside, Come inside.” >> update: near the end of 2016, Greg Lake (center pic) also left us<<
