thinking about post canon chilaios and realizing that mostly i like them as a weird freaky kind of psychosexual dungeon love affair and thats what they should stay, even outside of the dungeon. like their relationship is built on the context of the dungeon so after they go their seperate ways its kind of like they’ll always connect that with each other if that makes sense?? sniff that guy and its a trip all the way down to when u were both happiest and most distraught, the high you will be chasing the entire rest of your gilded cage or pleasantly mundane life. so what im saying is that sometimes the king just needs to go to town and bite the locksmith on top of his workbench a bit because its a reminder of better times when he didnt have all this responsibility he didn’t ask for weighing on his shoulders and sometimes the locksmith needs to go to the castle to get bitten by the king in his very soft fluffy bed because some part of him has grown so used to the danger of teeth on his throat that he misses it. anyways

Me, nodding in furious agreement: Yes absolutely but also they should fuck ANGSTY. they should be forced to deal with the inconsistency between the people they percieve themselves to be and the roles they are forced to play in the world. They should be forced into situations highlighting their complicity in violently maintained hierarchical systems of power. I think they should grieve the fact that they are dependent on these systems to survive even while the systems limit and abuse them. I think they need to sink into deepest despair when they realise that they cannot escape the system despite all that, and that any attempt to escape the system, especially as a person of relative privilege, means abandoning others to be crushed under the weight of the machine. Even though, and I cannot emphasise this enough: while they exist in the system they are complicit in its violence. Through all that they should desperately want intimacy and comfort but be too alienated (b/c of being forced into constricting roles in the system) to truly relate to each other except as components of the system. AND the whole time Marcille is there saying "isn't this so romantic!! just like in my books!"

I have a CRYSTAL CLEAR vision of postcanon chillaios political marriage fic where dozens of suitors are vying for Laios's slightly sticky hand & he is. oblivious. Which almost causes a major diplomatic incident. Someone (Kabru) tries to delicately explain that he should probably take a spouse already and Laios is like. Oh cool. Chilchuck? Wanna get married?
