Kodansha Comics is going to be at Anime Boston this weekend! We’ll be at booth 101 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday— it’s right next to the Entrance and across from Funimation! We’ll also have a panel on Saturday in Hynes-Panel A, from 3:45-4:45 p.m.!

Stop by our booth to get copies of our new books! :D We’ll have Sailor Moon 11, but quantities are limited, so better hit us up first!

Come to our panel for a chance to get books that haven’t been released yet, like No. 6 1, Sankarea 1, and Attack on Titan 5!

The Shonen Jump crew are now posting a weekly podcast! Now, every Monday as the new issues of Weekly Shonen Jump are posted online at VIZManga.com and the various VIZ apps, they’re also posting a new podcast episode.

Listen in, and hear Shonen Jump editors Urian Brown, John Bae, Hope Donovan, Alexis Kirsch, and “worrier-in-chief” Andy Nakatani explain what they do, and drop hints at what they’ll be announcing at the Shonen Jump Fan Meet-up at FanimeCon in San Jose on Sunday, May 26, at 5-6 pm, in the Panels 1 room.

Perhaps most tantalizing is the hint they’ve dropped about some “very big news” for aspiring manga-ka that they’ll announce at the meet-up. Well, looks like I’ll be in San Jose on Sunday too, not just Saturday… Vee shall see, won’t we?

Hm, rom-com series have always been a love-hate relationship for me. I've mulled over the idea/concept that if Vertical were to start licensing a few of them, would I go for it? As you pointed out, Seven Seas kind of has rom-com covered here, though I still believe there are a lot of great titles that are ripe for the plucking, and by publishers that Seven Seas doesn't have access to (Kodansha, Square Enix, Kadokawa Shoten, ..).

But the big question is really, "Is it viable?". I don't want Vertical going after stuff that is only going to put them further in the red; I love Vertical, and I want it to stick around for as long as possible. So in that sense, I'd definitely wager a chance to see what happens if Vertical does try out some romance-comedy/ecchi manga (and I'd definitely be a buyer). 

This would likely branch out a whole new section from the "old" Vertical fans, and it may not necessarily be a bad change. Mysterious Girlfriend X definitely comes to mind, as a potential title, and the anime is already due out here in the US next month from Sentai. 

Whatever your decision, you've got a fan and buyer in me. Best of luck, Vertical.

It’s an invasion of the cute zombies here at Kodansha Comics! We finally have our office copies of Sankarea: Undying Love, and they look GREAT! The book won’t be in stores until June 11, but you can order it now, and if you happen to be at Anime Boston you should probably drop by our booth and panel. You won’t be able to buy the book, but you might still get something exciting. ;) See you there!
