Gage hugged the stuffy tightly to his chest.
“Alright.” He looked up at Todd with his big, blue eyes.
When someone knew what he was, Gage typically did not feel the need to behave like a toddler anymore when he was around them. However, it had been a very long time and he was feeling that ever lingering presence of loneliness creeping back up into him. Anytime this happened, Gage would seek out a family or someone to take care of him and make him feel loved again. Until he got bored of it.
“You got a family?” Gage wondered.
mamasbxy:
It was true that he had never been given the chance to develop and grow up alongside his family, the only one left alive was his sister because she was with their grandparents when the whole house burned to the ground. She had no idea what their father had done, she had no idea her little brother was still out there somewhere.
Gage looked at the stuffed bear for a moment, it was a little old and scruffy and it reminded him of his pet cat.
“I am going to name him Church. Like my kitty.”
“Church? That’s a good name.” Todd smiled at the little boy. He knew that Gage was something very evil and dangerous under that cute toddler body - but he would not judge nor ridicule. He knew what it was like to be alone in the world - the only one of your kind, and he didn’t want Gage to have to go through what he did.
“Take good care of it, all right?”

Endearing himself to Jack seemed to be the best way to stay safe in this situation, the man amused Gage and he wanted to stick around for a while longer. Gazing up at the tall horse, he could not help but feel a nervous lump forming in his throat. What if he fell and broke his neck? This body would no longer be usable.
He sat behind Jack, thinking that he really should be in front of the Gunslinger so that he could at least hold onto the horse’s mane. Looking down, all he could see to grab onto was Jack’s belt.
“I ain’t gonna fall.” Gage sneered back, gripping his little fingers tightly into the leather.

Gage watched with mild interest as Talon hesitated to partake in this feast, it slowly began to dawn on him that perhaps Talon did not know what he was yet. This amused Gage and he smiled a little when Talon finally gave in to his darker side, hunger would always overpower morality and fear.
Standing up once Talon had finished, Gage used dirt to get rid of the blood on his own face and hands. It wouldn’t go away completely but at least it wouldn’t look like he’d just torn out a man’s throat.
“Where are we going now?” Gage wondered, following Talon onward. “I’m getting tired.”

Gage stood up after Jason had nodded, following him outside into the woods. Because he was not really human he had no trouble keeping up with Jason’s long strides, Gage could move inhumanly fast.
Once they arrived at the campgrounds, he immediately ran over to the lake and stared out over it. Then he half turned and looked back at Jason, noticing he was not coming over.
“Why don’t ya come see?” Gage called to him. “Can’t ya swim?”

Gage often forgot how to act like a toddler, especially when he had not tried to behave like one in a long time. He did remember to act sad and alone but he forgot all about the being frightened part, not that Jack mentioned it or anything. So maybe he hadn’t noticed?
“Okay.” Gage shrugged, poking a stick in the dirt for a while before glancing back up at Jack. “Are we gonna die?”
