Born to a single mother who owned a strip club, Mac didn’t try very hard to be good. Kids were mean, especially about the stripper thing, consequently bringing her education to an abrupt halt after years of expulsions for picking fights and running out of schools willing to take her. Dropping out at 15, she juggled a series of odd jobs before landing a modeling gig. She was never actually a model though, promptly getting kicked off set by the photographer-- but she managed to charm an attending agent enough to land a role as a video jockey.
Mac quickly gained notoriety for her off-the-cuff remarks and lack of deference to celebrities (don’t mention America’s sweetheart Betty White to her agent), eventually becoming a familiar face to the same demographic that watched Family Guy and Viva La Bam. She was a favorite among frat boys and yuppies who peaked in high school, known for her vulgarity and scathing take-downs on the very shows she hosted. Luckily for her, America adored a hot mess, and Mac was nothing if not scorching hot and aggravatingly messy.

Born and raised in St. Cloud by a celebrated dynasty, Cannon was catapulted to stardom from the time he could rope a calf in under ten seconds. He became a media darling and local celebrity when his bull riding gained the attention of Hollywood talent scouts, lending his skills as a stunt double—but only when lulls between competitions permitted. Because as much as he loved the limelight, Cannon was prouder to call St. Cloud his hometown than he was about being some teenage heartthrob. (Not that he was complaining.)

Every small town has that one over eager activist, right? Well in St Cloud, that kid was Tommie. When she was young and asking you to sign petitions or boycott big supermarkets it was kind of cute, but as she got older and angrier and more determined, the charming rants she used to go on became protests and acts of public disturbance. All in the name of standing up for the little guy of course, but people were pretty relieved when she turned eighteen, figuring she’d leave for college and only ever return to St Cloud through their TV screens as a hard-hitting reporter and a local success story.
They were half right. Tommie completed her double major in journalism and public relations at NYU, securing an internship with a local news channel and working hard to make her way up the ladder. The meagre social life she did had went up in smoke, but she knew it would all be worth it when she was finally hosting her own show, exposing scandals, bringing down bad guys, and bringing people the information they needed.
Only a year ago her dad got in a major car accident, and the help her family needed- not to mention the insane hospital bill- brought her back home. It made sense, her older siblings had families of their own to take care of and her younger brother had just started college for himself. So now she hosts the segment ‘Tea with Tommie’ on local radio and tries not to dwell on the fact that her dreams are spiralling the drain.

June was born and raised just a few miles outside of town. Having several older siblings, she inherited only a barely running ancient pickup truck and a night job at the Frisky Whisky from her late alcoholic father. He had spent so much money and time at the bar that the owner felt compelled to give her the job when she approached him about it.
Currently June rents a trailer and works almost every night, priding herself mostly on her bartending abilities and her music selection for the bar, having forced the town to accept some hip hop pop along with their country hits. When she was approached by the producers of Maize to be on the show, she accepted without much thought, on the condition that she could continue to work her regular shifts while being filmed.

After 17 years of delinquency as a public nuisance, Bailey joined the Marine Corps as a final Hail Mary to straighten his shit out; with prison as his only option, he decided to choose the one with a guaranteed paycheck. He served 13 years as staff sergeant and combat videographer, a role he gravitated towards after determining that he preferred shooting with a camera than with a gun.
In the months following his discharge, Bailey fell back into the arms of his old flame, which usually took the form of anything above 150 proof. With no home, no job, and no money, it took hitting rock bottom several times over like a drunk, pathetic basketball to pull him out of his personal quicksand. With his experience filming in perilous situations, he eventually found work as a documentary videographer, and spent the next 10 years with The Road Less Traveled, a TV show featuring remote, isolated communities living in extreme conditions.
When the host of the show (and consequently, his employer) was gored by a wild boar while shooting on location, Bailey knew he’d have to find another job. Following its cancellation, he reluctantly accepted a position on Maize of Love on the recommendation of a friend, a decision he still isn’t sure was the right one to make.

Allie was able to get on the new wave of social media influencing very soon after the career came into being. After finding college to be much harder than she expected, she dropped out and launched headfirst into becoming an influencer instead. She had a few years of moderate success, and then landed a role on a reality television show that ended up in a marriage to Angel Andrada. They were careful to make the romance appear real, but privately they were in agreement that the marriage was purely for both of their careers. The show and the wedding got her more sponsorships than she’d ever had before, but once that died down, they broke up after a publicized drug relapse on Angel’s part.
When the producers for Maize contacted Allie and let her know that Angel was going to be on the show, Allie immediately saw the opportunity for a grand forgiveness gesture and more drama to create interest in her as a brand promoter.

Angel learned early on that life had more in store for him if he refrained from being true to himself. A bad reputation seemed even more powerful than a good one, and he leaned into it from an early age. He’s made a name for himself being an uncontrollable hellion, and it’s genuinely exhausting. He’s constantly on the road, and in order to keep up appearances he has to remain constantly on. His days are full of late nights and early flights, and it’s a constant challenge to find ways to out-do himself in order to stay relevant.
Feeling that he might be on the verge of a mental breakdown, Angel jumped at the chance to be on Maize of Love. He knew that he would have to make noise for the show, but the appeal of temporarily retreating to this backwater was too good to pass up.

And it seemed that the farther he wandered the less intentions he held of ever returning home.
He came to St. Cloud with nothing to his name but he found much more than he could dream to hope for at this point. Mrs. Houghton, a kind elderly woman, hired him for extra help around her farm. Atreus has since become something of an honorary grandson to her, and the two of them run Sunnyside Meadows horse farm.
