i think its so funny that alumni from schools like harvard and columbia that were there during the protests in the 60s-80s are expressing support for students currently protesting against the genocide in palestine, and random zionists that were NOT at these protests in the 60s-80s have the never ending audacity to tell these alumni "well thats different, what you protested was good and what they're protesting is bad." as if protesters against the vietnam war and apartheid south africa were not also demonized, arrested, brutalized, and even killed for their activism. history only remembers them fondly after the damage has already been done.

My covid prevention ways were a super power today. I went to visit a volcano crater and it was being misbehaved and putting off some fumes. Not enough that we needed to leave but enough that it was painful and uncomfortable. But, I am in the habit of having and n95 mask on my person somewhere at all times. And I whipped that bad boy out and was perfectly happy staring at this volcano without coughing or awkwardly balling up a hoodie to breathe. N95 masks — useful in other situations!

#ok most people don’t go to volcanos on the regular #but I find that I wear a mask much more often now that I have them around #for woodworking around the house #sudden gnat attack #too much pollen #not enough humidity #particulates in the air #no scarf #just useful

btw one of the key components of actually being in a healthy relationship is just asking for things that you want. i keep seeing posts on this website saying 'i really want to do/receive [X] but my partner has never done it'. just ask. 'nobody exchanges love letters anymore' ask. 'i want to have my partner's hair in a locket like the victorians' just ask. 'i want to be bought flowers regularly :((' literally just ask. your partner doesn't know they're being held to these expectations and that you're unhappy unless you tell them. it's so unfair to expect your partner to read your mind. 'it's less special if you have to ask :((' grow up and stop pretending you're the lead in a romcom. when people say communication is crucial they mean it !! just ask !!

#I think what is important to acknowledge #is there are partners that mock you or make your relationship insecure for asking #or on the flip side of this partners that make you do 100% of the emotional labor #of planning #of asking #of begging for nice things #those are situations when like #they should know to plan a bit for you and you don’t need to spell it out #but if it is like I want this specific thing #just ask #also men #if you want flowers or nice things #ask! #girls like buying that stuff or giving compliments

🔹 There is no objective metric to decide if a story is portraying a negative topic the 'right' way.

🔹 Just because a piece of fiction doesn't explicitly condemn or portray an evil action in a bad light in the text doesn't mean the author thinks its good or is trying to persuade the audience that it is good.

🔹 Survivors of trauma will not always write fiction about their trauma in a way that seems 'right' or 'normal' to you.

🔹 Banning fiction because it portrays dark, taboo topics in a way you consider gross or disgusting is still censorship.
