Well, shit...
it seems that the jpeg file i want to upload, which is the first page of the comic, btw, is too big for the site to process. So, I have to find a way to make it smaller before i can upload it. perhaps print it, scan it, THEN upload it... i guess thats just more time to work. So the first page and second page will be up for next week on the 16th. Wish me luck!

Materialists
With the information I posted earlier about the Joleists, there was a super brief mention of Materialists. Let me sum that up for you all now.
A Joleist sees worth in everything and works solely for the good of the company. Everything they do is to make sure that their company can survive, do better, and flourish. Almost an unconditional love for the whole, a Joleist is a martar for their cause as their company is their faith. Now that's nice and all, but Joleist forget sometimes where it all started. Capitalism is about hunger, the want to succeed, and lots of money. See, everything has worth. The trick is to find out what is the best investment. Now when I say everything, I mean everything. From people, places, ideas, strageties, even decisions. Nothing is to ambiguious to put a price on and the price is what you are willing to put down. Sometimes the price is too high or the gamble isn't worth it. That's how you have to think of things. Back when there were all these ideas flying around, people found a way in all the chaos and confusion to make something of themselves. Magnets? Those are rocks or invisible fields that we depend on egg-heads to tell us what they do. Now the people of our past thought it a good investment, and they were right. They they though, "Say why am I working for my country when my country could work for me? Why am I paying them? Why am I making them look good?" The price was really high on that wager, but they though it a good investment, and the Collective was formed. See, value is power because someone somewhere will value it and will pay whatever they need to get it. It was up to them to figure out what it was and to corner the market so they can get the most value of it. I don't want to hear about this "good for the company" crap. I am the company and I am valueable. If you think you are worth enough to leave my side and do you own thing, go on ahead, but you'll be back. I know this because in this world, the people with the highest value set the price. I set the price, and just for you, between friends, the price is "too much".

Playing Around with Ideas
So as Ive been drawing these characters, writing about the world and putting together the script, I have found that, like with most people, the story may be taking a bit of a change of direction. Not too much of a change, mind you. More like using a different route, fuel, and method to get to the same destination. "Its not the destination, but the journey", right? Well, allow me to explain in grand vagueness what I was sorta planning and what has come to be happening.
Originally, there was suppose to be a cast of about five or so characters that would simply encounter each other every now and then during their adventures in the Verge, their meetings never being anything posivite or good aligned. But then I found that to not only be boring, but perdictable and an all around scattered story with too much going on. Now I have one protagonist with a supporting cast that I promise here and now not to neglect! This simple change has changed actually a hell of a lot. So now even the premise is different. Sorta. In the end it is still the industrial revolution at post american civil war europe as it enters the age of exploration to Isreal. With magnets. Hmm. that sounded really long winded. How about this.
"Our hero follows her dream to the new world, called the Verge, where the become infatuated with those that would do everything in their power to see them fail. Still, they face opposition of all kinds in this cruel and unforgiving landscape far from their home."
You like? Or is it crap? Let me know with some comments!
  PS
Page 1 will be posted next week, Wendesday!

The Hero Worship of Marcus Jole
In the world of Star Crossing, all we really know is that the counties of the world are a alliance organization or business corporations called the Collective and that the people of the Collective live in an organizational “company culture” type of setting where while employment is never an issue, the company controls just about every aspect of their lives. To evolve on that point, this goes much farther from the corporate prejudiced that some people may display. Capitalism is a huge part of Collective culture to the point that it has become a religion, among others that I will elaborate on at another time (need things to blog about :P).
Marcus Jole of Giroud Construction was the trader everyone wanted to be. The pinnacle of a businessman, the poster boy of the company. This was even before the Collective was established or the Corps. were given sovereignty. The thing that made Jole different from the thousands of ambitious salary-men out there trying to scratch their way to the top was that he was not using capitalism to benefit himself, but the company. Marcus Jole lived, eat, breathed and dreamed Giroud. Never really moving up on the ladder, maybe earning employee of the month, it solely thanks to this man that Giroud cornered the construction market and was able to join the Collective in the first place. From his friends and neighbors, is was the ultimate capitalist, a corporate saint of sorts, and earned the respect of all allies and competitors. After his passing, the company's acceptance into the exclusive group of mega corporations and the swift national takeover, it was seen as an economic miracle that Giroud would make it this far. It was at this point that Marcus Jole fell out of rumor and small talk as “the man to aspire to be” to “the kind of person all citizens, employees and traders should become”. A national hero of sorts, you could say he was worshiped. Buildings called Auction Houses were erected in his name, strategies used his past exploits as references, people devoted their lives to try and emulate the way he lived and conducted business. The currency trade notes that the Collective uses is even called the “Jole”. So with that came the two major beliefs of the Star Crossing world, the Joleist, believers of the beauties of capitalist and corporation, and the Materialist, who only believe that things in the world are to weigh, appraised, and given value in your life in order to propel yourself to be in turn more valuable.

People of the Corporate Collective
When the Magnetic Era dawned, the people of the known world saw new possibles and opportunities at every corner. You can barely blame them for trying to capitalize on the could be arguably the most exciting time in history as the world of technology, politics, the very world itself, was getting bigger and stranger. By following the Tokushu company's example, businesses from all over started asking the favor of their local governments for the private rights to conduct trade, manufacturing, and commerce on the behalf of their countries. In the end, the biggest and most successful of these companies gained control over their respected counties and traded all kind of commodities, including land, amongst one another. These are the people of the Corporate Continent known as the Corp. Collective.
Living in the Collective is a lot like being born into a clan or tribe. You grow up with your parents, neighbors, and friends all working for one corporation. As a child, you have no responsibilities except to go to school and do well enough in the get a good assignment when you are old enough to give back to the company. Once you get your assigned job, you normally are in that position for the rest of your life, unless you are ambitious enough to climb the corporate ladder. Money, or Jole, is taken out of a credit line that is under you name and employee number automatically when payment is needed. You are observed constantly by HSC (Housing Complex Security) and your everyday life is determined directly by how well the company is doing. At first glance, one may be apprehensive by the idea of a money-hungry corporation representing them and governing one's life. But the employees of these businesses, the mega corps. at least, see it as a benefit and simpler way of life. You job is chosen for you, there is always employment, housing, resources, the general illusion of freedom and the lack of violence, crime, and war for the sole fact that it's bad for business.

SUCCESS!!!
So I just got my scanner working again (though I do not know for how long) which means I can start posting things. As a start up, I would like to elaborate on myself for a little bit. I am 23, and if it were possible I would have been drawing for 23 years, but for now I can just say "most of my life". I love manga and comics, with my 51% going towards the manga (huge Claymore fan). Still, Ive been a fan of iron man since the 90s and my favorite artist of all time in wester comics is the amazing late Michael Layne Turner of Top Cow and Aspen Comics (i could drool over his women ALL day!) So I have a bit of a mix of east-meets-west in my style as it has evolved over the years. I still need a lot of refining and schooling, but I think I have come up with a workable template for myself. I hope you enjoy my scetchs (im very chicken scratchy, sorry. I draw like working clay, its a blob and a mess until i work it a bit) and in the near future my first attempt at a web comic, STAR CROSSING! Please regard me kindly. - See more at: http://www.inkblazers.com/authors-and-artists/Maasaya-Nishidaki/detail-page/18845?tab=blog&blog-page=0#sthash.Zg9WIXs3.dpuf
