i wanna say fuck you to anyone who shame disabled, chronically ill & neurodivergent people, especially homebound folks, for "spending too much time on their phone/on the internet/etc." when it's the only (Somewhat) accessible way for them to experience the world. many people don't get to get out much even if they want to because of their disabilities. shaming someone for trying to connect with the world, make friends and engage with hobbies in ways that are accessible to them is beyond cruel and unnecessary

Rhaenyra’s genuinely an unlikable character when you really get to the root of it. Not because she’s coddled, arrogant and entitled, but because aside from that she’s so…boring. She has no unique traits or qualities that make her really stand out, we don’t really know her true motives or intentions behind anything outside of just being short sited and mistakenly believing her position as heir will be enough to shield her from consequences and her complacency fueled by arrogance.

Plus we don’t really know the reasons behind wanting to rule outside of “i will be queen because daddy says so”. Why does she want to be queen? What kind of ruler does she intend to be? What legacy did she wish to leave behind? Entitlement aside, without these things being made clear, it’s impossible to really root for her when you don’t know what they intend to do or stand for as a ruler.

Part of the problem is that we’re often told that she would complain about her duties but we are never shown her actually doing so or told why she does it either, which is a major issue with hotd as a whole. Too much telling but not enough showing to add context to situations, especially when the context was present in the source material.

In comparison, we are shown glimpses of what lead to alicent being how she was in later years which made me gravitate to her more though i have some grievances with her character, i don’t find her boring because we at least have some understanding of her character. Meanwhile rhaenyra just gives the impression of “I’m technically the protagonist so you’re supposed to like me” which…is honestly not something i can blame on her as a character entirely but on bad writing.

i need you all to remember what funeral processions are. how else could aemma’s body get to the pyre on the hill in ep1, or laena’s body be taken from pentos to driftmark? did they just magically teleport to the location of the funeral? fuck no. as nobility, it is almost certain they would have had funeral processions to which the smallfolk would be able to observe and pay their respects, even if they weren’t shown on screen. i could also pretty much guarantee that if rhaenyra held kings landing and if lucerys’ body could be recovered (assuming they couldn’t, given the still of jace holding his clothes, likely to burn in his place) that there would be a similar procession for luke on dragonstone. — forgive me if i can’t really put this too eloquently, but you have to remember that these characters are royalty, and much like the royals of our world, not even their deaths or illnesses can be private affairs (e.g: lizzie ii’s body lying-in-state for public visitation for a week, or the announcements of charles and kate both having cancer, if i need real world examples). luke’s death is the martyr for a full scale war effort, much like jaehaerys’ death was a call to action for the green war effort. whether these fictional families (and the fandom too, for that matter) like it or not, it is a time of war and their deaths will be politicised.

yes, the public procession through kings landing does earn the greens sympathy, i’m not denying it, but to say it dismisses all of the family’s love and grief for the deceased like the creator implied is quite frankly idiotic. both lucerys and jaehaerys’ deaths are tragedies used to create bad pr for the other side (e.g: aemond becoming known as a kinslayer (one of the most loathed things a person could be in asoiaf)) also: please remember that in hotd, at least, the greens and blacks tend to observe different religious practices — funerary customs will differ between the valyrian gods and the faith of the seven. -> even then, public funerals don’t mean someone loves their family less. rhaenyra and her family loved lucerys and they mourn him as they see fit, just as helaena and her family loved jaehaerys and do the same. both of these children’s deaths are brutal and tragic. helaena’s grief does not invalidate rhaenyra’s. to say one side did not love their child and the other did is dumb at best and outright disingenuous and cruel at worst.

do people actually think rhaenyra hand-delivering her newborn is anything but a political move meant to showcase she's done being intimidated. im asking fr, and as someone who (like i've said before) literally dislikes her.. why are people so hellbent on making her out to be alicent's victim? why do fans who “loooooooove her” ignore key parts of her (very limited) political savvy, JUST to hate on alicent?

like what do you mean she's weak for listening to her? the QUEEN requested to see the baby. for the baby to be BROUGHT to her (by a servant, obviously), something that most likely started with luke's birth and the bastard “rumors”. yet rhaenyra — not even a whole ten minutes out of giving BIRTH, still bleeding and absolutely exhausted — made the conscious choice to be like “alr yk what i'm done with that shit” AND GOT UP AND WALKED W A BABY IN HER ARMS ALL THROUGH THE KEEP, WITH PEOPLE AROUND WATCHING HER, just to stand in front of alicent to tell her she and her children are through with all that. that is a good move, it's an unexpected move and it's a powerful one. and yet... people make it out to be like she had no choice in it, that she's alicent's pawn to move around as she likes.

i'm sorry, but for people who claim to love her character, that's doing a huge HUGE disservice to her. and again, I'M saying that, as someone who doesn't. y'all need to get it together i fear

I usually don't engage in discourse about team green vs team black but following the link in Tom's Insta story yesterday I just posted my opinion, that the show wants us to be team black but team green is just way more interesting to watch (for me).

Within minutes someone had to point out that I was supporting a r*pist and how I was "team misogynist".

I washed my hands of the whole thing after that but still got notifications for every new comment and man do people take this shit seriously!

It's a FICTIONAL SHOW with fictional characters who are NOT REAL. Nobody actually got hurt, I need people to realize this because I don't think some do lol
