William Dick: The Paperworks
Maclaurin Galleries: Sunday 8th July – Sunday 5th August 2018
Born in Glasgow, studied at GSA, Duncan of Jordanstone and St Martin's School of Art, William’s geometric abstract paintings are inspired by both ancient tribal symbols and a fascination with the geological transformation of the landscape. Each painting evolves out of itself, layer on layer, transforming and growing in its physical and illusionary historical depth.

Kilgour Art Award for Senior Schools 2017
The bi-annual exhibition of work by senior school pupils in South Ayrshire studying art at higher level currently in Rozelle House galleries has been described as outstanding in both content and excellence. So excellent in fact the three person judging panel decided not only to award a winner but also to reward three runners-up as well.
At the prize giving ceremony on Saturday 28th October, pupils, friends and relatives of the winners and exhibitors, in the presence of the SAC Director of Education Douglas Hutcheson, gathered to congratulate the four winners.
After much deliberation the 2017 Kilgour Award, presented in memory Jack Kilgour the founder of the Friends of the Maclaurin Gallery, (who support the work of both Rozelle House and the Maclaurin Gallery) was awarded this year to Mhairi Smeeton from Kyle Academy for her work entitled ‘Search for myself’.
Due to the sheer quality of the entries, the judges decided to award three Highly Commended prizes as well. These went to:
Megan McCulloch, Queen Margaret Academy
Drew Maxwell, Carrick Academy
Gabe Skeoch, Prestwick Academy
Exhibition continues until 26th November
