"...tendency to think of our attempts to counteract the passage of time, or preserve memories (whether through photography or other means), as testifying to our desire for eternity or timelessness. But I think it actually testifies to our desire to live on..."

Journal Entry 45:
Dreaming in imagery isn’t only peaceful. Dreams can come off as dreadful and dangerous. I found surprisingly a variety of artists whose works explored the darker side of dreams despite their other works looking very light hearted and colorful. This kinda goes to show how no artist needs to limit themselves to one sort of dreamy imagery in art.

Despite all the photos we see and the meaning or reason behind each, we all come to our own conclusion of what else it could mean.. It's interesting because it showcases what's important to us through what we've experienced which leaks into our spiritual views.

Journal Entry 38:
In our weekly discussion the idea of spirituality generally or religiously didn’t seem to affect anyone’s opinion much on where they rather live in the world which is quite interesting. If anything we all seem to be just looking for a place that’s peaceful. Where we can be authentic selves, but also a place that means to bring no harm to others.

There are different berries around the world just as there are different flowers. They symbolize something to someone. Spiritually grows its own meaning in different places within different cultures.

Life takes its time in its own fashion Emotions unfold like a superbloom in action The universe hangs like a necklace from God Jewels suspended in the cosmos And it makes me believe This is how we're meant to be 'Cause we're just highly emotional people

Journal Entry 33:
Religion and spirituality play off on one another quite a lot. I find the two to be quite intertwined. Religion I think gives meaning to reasons and to things we can’t see while spiritually gives more reason to what happens and what we can see in front of us. Often we do go into this trance-like state however I spiritually we pull from things we have seen in nature a lot. As well as what we’ve learned and experienced over time. We don’t recall all the details so our minds transfixes them into something else almost.

Journal Entry 31:
From this week’s required readings/discussion I found people seem to put their faith in what makes more sense to them. Usually according to their values in life. Despite the differences that can cause between us all everyone’s willingness to hear one another out displays how we aren’t so different truly. We all want to be heard. We want to be seen. We want to be understood. In order to do that we need to understand one another. The same can be said within our photography. We find our different photos we share with one another interesting because gives us a different point of view. That’s what’s occurring when sharing our spiritual and religious experiences.
