During the treehouse live at E3 2016, when asked about Zelda spin offs Eiji Aonuma briefly mentioned talk among his staff about a Sheik game. 

So I lost my fuckin marbles and thought it’d be interesting to conceptualize a story about where the title of Sheik came from and what it means. Perhaps a story that takes place just at the tail end of the sheikah people’s mass genocide.

SO!! I decided to update my Legend of Zelda: Balance AU. This originally started out with me just cleaning up the original sketches I did because I realized I had been slacking off REALLY badly in my art (mostly due to depression but I’m getting better now thankfully.) Like, when I originally did Gadni, I realized I made him a little too slender. He wasn’t as beefy as I had intended him to be so I fixed that! There was also some more subtle details I wanted to update like certain things the characters wear and the color scheme of each of them. And I COMPLETELY overhauled Zi’s character from what I originally intended.

I drew inspiration from a few other AU I’m big fans off like @linkeduniverse. I liked the way @jojo56830 gave each of the heroes unique details that told stories of their adventures and individual times and I felt that my originally sketch of my AU Link was kind of bland. So I decided to put a few more details into each of them. 

Like, for Link’s new design, I made him look more like he’s actually been living in Gerudo Valley, I added the shoulder armor, more golden jewelry and also fixed the detailing on his boots. As for the green markings on his skin, there’s an in-universe explanation for that. Basically: when Link was younger, he was fascinated with the Zonai tribe and how their armor looked (Barbarian Armor) so he decided to imitate the markings they would put on their body along with their armor. (Plus I think he looks cool lol)

For Zi, I thought it’d be more interesting to NOT make her Zelda…in name only atleast. I think her story will be a bit more interesting and will fit in better with the whole “same but different” feel I’m going for in this AU. Not to mention I’ve recently been playing classic Zelda games and I’m SO sad that Sheik hasn’t been in the games except for Smash and Hyrule Warriors. Shiek was AWESOME and I had such a crush on them when I was young LOL so I wanted to add elements of OoT Sheik in my AU.

As for Gadni, he’s mostly stayed the same. I just corrected his body type to look like what it REALLY should look like. My original sketch of him was not nearly as thicc as he should’ve been. I actually had to look at a certain…genre…of anime to get a good reference for what I was going for. 

I’m gonna put out more sketches and stories and character stuff in the future as well! I can’t wait to develop this story and I hope everyone likes it!
