Halona aka Halle was born in Fairplay, Colorado but the family moved to Denver after her fifth birthday. She grew up with her aunt and uncle. They raised her as their own since they themselves couldn't have children. She would describe them as loving and goofy.

Her childhood was fairly decent. Halle was a little spoiled but didn't act as such. Growing up she did damn near all the extracurricular activities a girl could want and her aunt and uncle were there to see every show/game.

High school years were her happiest years. She was considered popular, for the simple fact that she got along with everyone. Plus she thought she found the love of her life. Her aunt always preached "Put good into the world and she'll get goodness in return." Halle lived by this and it worked well for her.

When it was time for college. Halle left for New York University. Nothing is better than the Big Apple, right? Halle was excited about a new adventure. She naively thought it would be like the movies. Just as soon as classes started she found a love interest in a fellow classmate.

One night after a short date he brought her to his apartment where a couple of his friends were waiting. They attacked her. That night ended with them threatening to do worse if she went to the police.

Halle packed up her things and came home. She moved to a local college that was five minutes from home and never told anyone what happened.

Val was born in New York but was soon dropped off to her grandparents in Colorado. Her grandparents raised her until she was twelve years old, between that time her parents would only show up to "borrow" money. She loved her grandparents more than anything and would do anything for them.

When she was twelve her grandmother suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed. This hindered Val's living situation since her grandfather was already in hospice. The only other person that came to tend to Val and her grandparents was her uncle. He wasn't much better than her parents because, in the span of a couple of months, Val went from a happy girl living with people who loved her to a struggling teen trying to adjust to her new life in foster care.

During her time in foster care, Val became depressed. The social worker wouldn't take her to see her grandparents in the nursing home/hospice care, and she was being bullied by other kids in the group home. They would punch her, steal her things, and one time one of the girls cut her hair in her sleep. One day Val snapped on the girls and beat one of the ringleaders. It took four adults to pull Val off of her. After that, she was put on a 72-hour psych hold.

Once she was released, Val was put into a foster home where she had siblings. This family was just as caring and loving as her old home. The parents were encouraging and warm-hearted. She enjoyed her siblings' antics and their varying personalities. To this day she still goes home to have family dinners.

Valencia has been working at Swole Mates since she finished her A.A. at community college. Currently, she likes her job and takes online classes to become a physical therapist.
