      if  jeon  dahye  has  anything,  it’s  the  audacity,  and  the  severely  misplaced  affront  in  her  voice  as  she  firmly  guides  hyemi  onto  the  closed  lid  of  the  toilet  is  testament  to  that.  "one,  i’d  never  dye  my  hair.  two,  i  wouldn’t  make  you  do  work  on  your  day  off.“  it’s  true;  more  often  than  not,  dahye’s  the  one  encouraging  hyemi  to  slack  off.  the  little  devil  perched  on  her  shoulder  come  to  life.  “three,  what  sort  of  awful  person  do  you  think  i  am?”  always  one  for  the  dramatics.

      “i’m  dying  your  hair,  thank  you  very  much!  even  drove  40  minutes  to  find  some  manic  panic.”  she  gestures  to  the  miniature  bottles  balanced  precariously  along  the  sink  in  every  shade  imaginable—  or  at  least,  the  shades  they’d  been  able  to  find  in  the  shop.  

      “all  this  is  for  you,  miss  ma’am!”  they  jab  at  hyemi’s  shoulder  to  punctuate  their  point.  "and  don’t  tell  me  you  don’t  wanna  do  it,  because  you  were  all  ‘omg,  my  bestie  for  life  and  evereverever,  dahye,  i  totally  wanna  dye  my  hair  and  you’re  the  only  person  i’d  ever  trust  with  it!’  last  tuesday.”  alright,  so  maybe  not  the  later  part,  but  they’re  90%  sure  they  remember  a  wine-drunk  hyemi  shoving  her  pinterest  hairspo  board  in  their  face.  

              “  wait  really  ?  why  would  you  never  dye  your  hair  ??  ”  she  suddenly  asks  as  she’s  being  led  to  the  toilet  seat  ,  as  if  it  was  the  only  thing  the  other  said.  “  that’s  so  surprising  ,  you  seem  like  the  type  that  would  dye  their  hair  all  sorts  of  colors.  ——  have  you  really  never  done  it  ?  ”  no  way  hyemi  had  her  beat  at  that  one.  granted  she’s  only  gone  between  her  natural  dark  locks  and  a  dirty  blonde  ,  but  still.

              she  nods  along  ,  attention  falling  back  to  the  bottles  littering  the  side  of  the  sink  before  the  realization  of  what  her  best  friend  has  just  said  sinks  in.  eyes  widen  and  she  shoots  dahye  one  of  those  i  know  you’re  joking  looks.  except  ,  they  don’t  seem  to  be  joking  at  all  and  only  further  strip  away  her  hopes  as  they  go  on.  hyemi  is  quick  to  stand  on  her  feet  so  that  dahye  no  longer  has  the  advantage  of  towering  over  her  ,  and  still  ,  the  disbelief  continues.  “  oh  no  no  no  ,  we’re  not  doing  this.  dahye  ,  come  on  ,  i  wasn’t  being  serious.  i  don’t  even  remember  saying  any  of  that  !  for  all  i  know  ,  you’re  making  that  up.  ”  something  close  to  a  laugh  falls  from  her  lips  because  really  there’s  no  way  they  thought  that  even  for  a  second  sober  hyemi  would  do  something  like  this.  “  seriously  ,  i’m  not  dying  my  hair  freaking  ,  ”  she  reaches  out  and  picks  up  the  colored  container  closest  to  her  ,  “  atomic  turquoise.  ——  oh  i  know  !  we’ll  do  lizzie  !  there  ,  now  it  doesn’t  have  to  go  to  waste.  ”
