A. Time to Follow The White Rabbit
Good morning lovelies!
I do hope you’re well and taking shelter from this ghastly rain! If you’re wondering why I’ve been absent for a week or so it’s because, things are a-changing. In a genuine bid to give you, my dear Agatha customers, exactly what you want I’ve made the decision that from today you’ll only find me frequenting the blog every other week.
This is to tie in with my fresh newsletter (sign up by scrolling to the bottom here) which will be flying out to inboxes twice a month to keep you more up-to-date with what’s going on in store, our new arrivals and exciting collaborations and events. Fear not, I’ll still be pulling together a weekly fashion fix for you, you’ll just need to make sure you’re signed up to the newsletter to get your fill. Take a sneak peek here at the first one which went out last week to see what you’ve been missing out on.
Now we’ve got admin out of the way, this week PS by Paul Smith has got me thinking about Easter. A time for simnel cake, daffodils, chocolate eggs and that cheeky bunny, this spring celebration seems to have made quite an impact on Mr Smith and his SS18 collection. Fluffy white rabbits, uplifting spring colours and crisp white cotton and denim have made this cute collection a beautiful addition to the store.
From t-shirts to trainers, classic pieces have been given a contemporary edge – and seasonal quality – thanks to a lovely little bunny and some colourful polka dots. Paul Smith’s signature colours punctuate the collection, of course, while staples such as denim and the white shirt get a touch of Paul Smith magic.
One of my favourites is this premium soft-touch cotton crew neck sweater. The relaxed fit is infinitely flattering, the ribbed cuffs and collar adding a little definition, and our furry friend brings a fabulously playful vibe. He is a busy little thing, and can be found on the White ‘Yoga Bunny’ T-Shirt too which features in the collection. Cut for a slightly boxy fit the tee is features side pleats and a soft-handle finish – perfect for teaming with your favourite jeans.
Speaking of which, the washed denim boyfriend jeans which compliment the season’s pieces not only fit like a dream -taking design inspiration from the men’s collection but tailored to offer a more feminine fit – but bring a 70s feel to the edit. The multi-coloured embroidery on the rear pocket too is just the cutest detail.
While there is mostly definitely an undertone of dressing for chilled summer afternoons coming into play here, at the other end of the spectrum there are some more structured pieces vying for your attention. Take the white stretch-cotton shirt and its eye-catching cycle stripe cuff linings. Constructed in Italy from the most crisp cotton, this shirt delivers the most flattering fit and showcases how fun and function can partner to the utmost effect.
Then there are pieces which can be dressed up or down, such as this gorgeous short-sleeved striped top. Again made in cotton, this textured knit in black, white and contrasting coloured stripes, has a slash neck and rolled sleeves – perfect for work and play.
Keep well, warm and ready to welcome spring – it’s coming, I can feel it! Pop by and say ‘hi’ soon,
Agatha x

A. Look Behind the Brand – RIXO
Now that the final days of February are upon us – making way for the much-needed lift I’m sure March will bring – it’s time to take a closer look behind one of my beloved brands. This month I’m beyond thrilled to be talking to the gorgeous designer duo behind RIXO. Following hot on the heels of the stunning second drop which has now landed in store, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh Mccloskey took a little break from their hectic schedules prior to jetting off to Paris to chat all things RIXO with me. And what a pleasure it was!
Before we get into serious chatter mode, here’s a quick rundown of the brand and its serious fashion credentials. It launched in September 2015 by the pair who are not only best friends but London College of Fashion alumni and creative directors of this contemporary womenswear label. Only in its third year, it’s absolutely warranted to say that RIXO’s rise to fashion stardom has been meteoric. Collections have sold out, everyone wants to be seen wearing it, people just can’t get enough of the luxe hand-painted silk pieces. Which is totally understandable. The vintage-inspired designs, eclectic patterns and mismatch styles are not and will never be mass produced, which means the blouses, skirts and dresses all have a certain je ne cest quoi. They make you feel special, confident and feminine – what’s not to love?
After just one year RIXO had partnered with key wholesale accounts including Net-a-Porter. By November 2016 RIXO had been nominated for Drapers Premium Brand of the Year Award. Come the new year Net-a-Porter’s launch collection sold out in minutes, and the Vintage Shopping Edit was launched. Between February and July 2016 handfuls of stockists came on board including Saks Fifth Avenue, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. The summer saw Henriette and Orlagh launch their first pop-up shop in Soho, London, while September brought with it award glory with RIXO being named winner of British Fashion Council/DHL for International Fashion Potential Award. It’s been one hell of a journery so far and the pair haven’t even started yet. So, where did RIXO really begin? Let’s find out…
How and when did you both meet?
We met whilst at university (LCF) studying Business Management in 2012. We both hated London at the time but bonded over our love of vintage clothing and having an eye for things that were quirky and a bit, off the beaten path. We’ve been inseparable since we met!
Can you recall the moment when when the idea of RIXO was born?
There wasn’t one specific moment when we decided to create RIXO – it has been an idea in our heads for a while that we were going to create a brand together we just didn’t know exactly what it was or how we were going to do it. It was probably the last few months of our ASOS jobs that we were just becoming increasingly frustrated with what was on the market and talked more and more about what should be there, then one thing led to another and here we are! Our previous industry experience definitely amplified our emphasis on quality; we know what fabrics we want to work with and what we want to stay away from and therefore what the customer should be paying. We want to create beautiful clothes that are affordable too and that our customers will feel as special wearing the 30th time as they did the first.
Did you always have a clear idea of what you wanted to brand the brand to be known for?
We always knew that we wanted our pieces to be vintage inspired, feminine and most importantly be interesting with some personality! We didn’t want to single out one particular type of woman  or have anyone specific in mind when designing and we still don’t – we just wanted to create clothes that could be worn with authenticity and confidence. Our love of vintage is a pinnacle in our design aesthetic … and our wardrobes! We were just sick of unattainable luxury brands being ripped off, with versions being created in cheap synthetic materials and uninspiring shapes. Most of our most treasured items have been passed down by our mothers, or bought at a vintage flea market or fair whilst on holiday and we love the idea of creating clothes for the modern woman that have sentimental value too.
Where do you begin when it comes to the design process and why?
We start by collecting a mood board of pictures and references which reflect the ‘theme’ of the collection. This can be anything from botanical studies of flowers to a vintage belt buckle to a movie still from a 70s film. Then we’ll look at our favourite elements and start to paint the prints without any ‘shape’ or design in mind. Once they’ve been painted, scanned into the computer and digitally ‘cleaned’ we’ll then create our CADS and bring the prints and designs to life. We consider what the design would be worn to, what sort of woman/body shape might be wearing or might not want to wear it.
When it comes to the SS18 collection – what are your favourite pieces?
O: I love the Anna dress! The polka dot print is one of my favourite prints for clashing with others and the shape of the dress is so universal – it could be worn to the office then out for drinks afterwards.
H: Definitely the Moss in the leopard print. It’s a RIXO classic but I’m so glad we’ve brought it back – it’s a timeless piece that I’ll wear season after season.
So, there you have it. The ethos which lies behind this incredible brand and the approach the girls have taken to create pieces which are cherished by women who truly love fashion really hits home – you see why we wanted their designs in store so badly now? Their values mirror my own, a match made in heaven if I do say so myself.
Ta-ta for now,
Agatha x

A. Mother’s Day To Remember
Here we are once again, another weekend enjoyed, another week begun and nearly over! I do hope you all enjoyed Valentine’s Day, whatever plans you may have had, as we hop from one celebration straight on to the next. This week it’s all about the wonderful mamas out there – with March creeping up on us not so stealthily, Mother’s Day will soon be here.
Where would we be without our dear mums I wonder? Those cuddles and words of wisdom which are so often unasked for yet the best medicine for whatever seems to be ailing us. Maybe you’ve long flown the nest, maybe you’re still living at home, maybe you’re getting used to being a mother yourself – taking each day as it comes with your beautiful new arrival – or you’re now a proud grandmother. No matter how old we get nothing quite compares to quality time spent with mum does it?
We may tell them we love them, we may help around the house or do the odd errand here and there but it will soon be the time of year when we can go that extra mile to show them just how much they mean to us. And as it’s often the little things that make the biggest difference, a little treat to spoil your dearest mama certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
Having been here, there and everywhere lately, I enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the shop earlier this week organising the second RIXO drop – that’s right, it’s in store now but more about that next week when I take a look behind the brand. After some steaming, hanging and ogling, I just ended up having a nose around to see what lovely little bits I could find to help you choose a fab Mother’s Day gift.
When it comes to gifting, my thoughts almost always turn to jewellery first. Initially, because I always know I can find something to suit each lucky recipient but secondly, because to receive jewellery is always such a pleasure. I don’t suppose there are many people out there who wear a frown rather than a smile on opening a delicate little box now are there?
This time is it Olia Jewellery which is ticking boxes for me. Founded in March 2013 by Caroline Ollier, the brand has made itself known for timeless, feminine, sophisticated pieces. Accessible, without compromising on quality, the Olia range is the result of 15 years in the fashion industry. Each necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings is made from the highest quality brass or mixed metals, with many pieces being silver and gold plated. Each piece too is both lead and nickel free which means no allergies or discolouration here!
Out of the new pieces to arrive in store, the stretch silver mini bead bracelets make perfect gifts. Not only are they on point design wise, but the prices paint a pretty picture too. I love the Bess Bee charm, as well as the Shiela Love charm and Irene Starfish charm which also has a little added sparkle. Each bracelet is finished with an Olia branded tag too.
For something with a little more wow-factor, the necklaces should be just the ticket. The Estee Starfish boasts multiple charms with echoes of the sea, while the Sienna Heart necklace is bestowed with a cluster of charms in mixed metals. For something a little more left field, the Ann Starburst necklace should dazzle. Available in two sizes there is something slightly Aztec about this beauty.
Next up on my go-to list of pressies mums love it has to be purses. If it’s a penchant for bags that you’ll be looking to satisfy, some gorgeous new arrivals from Vivienne Westwood have landed. I just love the oh so cute mini bucket Opio Saffiano bag in this burnt orange hue. It pairs perfectly with the Derby Tartan purses, also available in blue, which come in three varieties – the coin purse, zip wallet and clutch.
Lastly, and purely because, well… the shoe needs to fit… is footwear. Perfect for busy mamas who are always on their feet, Hogl would be my choice. And these embellished loafers have just arrived in store. Available in nude or a fresh, zesty orange shade a pair of these will certainly make mum smile this Mother’s Day. Designed to be chic and comfy, the Austrian footwear label combines classic design with exceptional quality and comfort, resulting in collections which are sophisticated and utterly cosmopolitan – perfect.
So, there you have it. I know I’d be thrilled to open any one of these gift ideas come Sunday, March 11th – if it isn’t already in your diary grab a pen! Happy shopping poppets.

A. Blossoming Spring Season
The sun is shining and the sky is blue, it’s no wonder there’s a smile on my face and skip in my step this week – Spring is slowly starting to show its face! Hallelujah!
I’m under no illusion that we’re not out of the woods yet, there are undoubtedly some more grey and miserable days to come before the seasonal shift truly sets in, but we’re off to a promising start. Despite it being pretty chilly, my weekend was all about country walks and an al fresco coffee or two, enjoyed from behind rose-tinted sunnies – how long has it been since we’ve had to break out the eyewear, darlings? Too long in my opinion. It’s such a little thing isn’t it, the excuse to don sunglasses, but it really has put me in the mood for the oncoming season and all the satorial loveliness that comes with it.
The girls and I have been busy getting the shop organised and revitalised now that the sale is over, and gosh, we are proud of how it looks. It’s a total breath of fresh air. Clean, crisp and uncluttered it really does show off the new collections. Of course, new pieces arrive almost daily so you can be sure we won’t be resting on our laurels for long – there is so much I have yet to share with you!
Keen Instagrammers will have spotted my post about the new Weekend by MaxMara arrivals – namely the cotton and jersey dress which comes in sand and navy. Such a beautiful and practical piece, it has definitely been a hit in the store. And there’s much more where that came from in my edit of the Weekend SS18 collection.
With an athleisure style, neutral colours and the signature butterfly detail, the original sportswear DNA of MaxMara still holds its sway over this collection. When it comes to fabrics you’ll find relaxed linens, cottons and yard-dyed fabrics, in the same two distinct palettes as the dress I mentioned earlier. The myriad of sand and blue pieces pair easily together, as both light and dark ends of each colour spectrum feature. A smattering of beautiful patterns can be found across the board too, as well as the classic cornflower blue and white stripe which pops up in various designs – the freshest of which is the divine ORFEO ruffle sleeve, poplin dress with matching embroidered belt.
Versatile separates make an appearance too, from T-shirts with pleated details, frills and matching passementerie to the comfiest looking denim. The pieces are very easy to incorporate into your existing wardrobe, the collection as a whole really does allow itself to be adapted to suit you.
I know I’ve been talking to you a lot about Ted Baker lately – mainly because his SS18 looks are perfect for Valentine’s Day dressing – but there is much more to Ted this spring than what I’ve revealed so far. Entitled ‘In The Palace Gardens’, Ted’s womenswear for the season embodies all the majesty of British royal palaces and their magnificent surroundings.
Co-ordinated tonal dressing and colour blocking rule Ted’s palace for SS18. Prim shades of rhubarb pink, mint green and imperial yellow take centre stage with accents of richer teal, rust and antique gold shining through. It wouldn’t be a Baker collection without a bold photographic print and this season bold blooms and geometric chevrons are resplendent.
The cuts offer you something different too with aysemmetric shapes, soft frills and elegant pleating running throughout. Showing off the fun side of ruffles is my absolute favourite, the NEMERA blue and white stripe dress. Of the same family as the SABIYA ruffle top above, the dress fits to an absolute T. It’s one of those pieces you’ll love to wear and that loves wearing you. It’ll be popping up on Instagram this week so make sure those peepers are keen.
The oplent feel of the ‘In The Palace Gardens’ collection is reinforced by the fabric choices – think lavish satins, lustrous jacquards, delicate lace and fluid chiffons. The EICIO dress – which is currently in store in nude pink rather than rust colour shown below – is so effortless and graceful, the perfect example of how to do grown-up frills in a luxe fabric. Embellishments pop up too – Ted loves the finer details don’t you know. The noble pearl can be seen across the collection, on collars, cuffs and bags. Speaking of bags, a fresh and fun spring vibe is personified in the SALIA bag. I just love it! So much so that the store will be stocking it in both nude pink and yellow.
It’s amazing what a little sunshine – whether the real deal or in bag form – and some fresh clothing cuts can do to lift your mood isn’t it?
Ta-ta for now,
Agatha x

A. Loving Look, or Two
Hello… actually make that, Bonjour – the month of love is upon us, and for some reason I come over all French when Valentine’s approaches!
The sweet arrival of February means we’ve made it through January – hurrah – and that plenty of reasons to be bright and breezy are coming our way. Spring is almost here, which means Mother’s Day, Easter and some well deserved time off for all you hard workers isn’t too far away either. But first, it’s Valentine’s Day!
One of my favourite holidays – Hallmark or otherwise – Valentine’s Day is a much needed excuse for all of us to dress up or down, and show our loved ones just how much they mean to us. And if that doesn’t just fill you with a warm fuzzy feeling I don’t know what will!
Having already shared with you lovelies three of my favourite brands when it comes to gifting, I thought this week we should take a look at some Valentine’s Day dressing ideas. With new deliveries flying in left, right and centre, the girls and I decided now was the best time to show off what fancy frocks and cosy casuals are hanging in store, ready to ensure you look your best whatever your plans.
For any lovebirds off somewhere fancy, dressing to impress is a must – naturally. Ted Baker never lets one down in these situations, and the new arrivals that have just landed are no exception. First up there is the Yandal asymmetric bodycon dress. Its sultry shape and off-the-shoulder straps make this a total head-turner whether you opt for the pale pink or statement Versailles print. If bodycon isn’t your thing but you can’t get enough of the bold teal, pink and rose gold print you’re in luck. The eye-catching design is also available as Norahe – shorter and with a flattering cut, exposed shoulders and ruffles to boot.
If you’re looking to make an impression but aren’t one for elaborate prints, why not try Ted’s extreme cut out shoulder dress, now in store in bright pink and black. Mix and match with Mr Baker’s pointed heels to complete a simple yet striking look. Of course, if you’re not one for dresses, there is still an endless array of separates that will tick the fancy box. The Anett slim ankle grazer trousers in pale pink work beautifully with the Chatsworth Bloom print sheer blouses – the grey hues setting the pink off perfectly.
A night on tiles does have its perks on Valentine’s Day… Champagne will be flowing, couples and friend squads alike will have a glint in their eyes and venues go to town on the décor – what’s not to love? That said, I’m often equally as happy enjoying a cosy night in. Especially on the most romantic night of the year. Wrapped up in gorgeous loungewear, fizz flowing, candles all a-glow… have I convinced you to stay in yet?
If I have then you must check out the new spring collection from A Postcard From Brighton. If you read last week’s blog post you’ll already know that I’m spouting the truth – the new season is full of effortless pieces with comfort and style in equal measure. My go-to would be this light grey sweat with heart detail – obviously – paired with some classic denim or black bottoms. Add some Helen Moore faux fur throws, cushions and slippers for the ultimate in luxurious lounging.
Whatever fabulous night you have planned, some sparkle is definitely in order. Now, I know I was banging on about her pieces when we last caught up, but come on… Vivienne’s jewellery is just otherworldly. Aside from obsessing over the Bas relief brooch in rose gold, this week I’ve been playing with layering some of the necklaces – a style which I think looks pretty special. The rose gold, silver and yellow gold work surprisingly well together, that said the iconic orb and heart necklace and bracelet sets work equally well alone. It’s definitely worth experimenting with the combinations when you’re next in store though, just to see what works for you.
And, if you are still looking for gift ideas or hints to drop – ahem – there is so much choice in store. Aside from what I’ve already been gushing over, there are so many stunning bags and purses in at the minute I don’t even know where to start; Tom Ford’s sunglasses are just divine; and even Ted Baker’s brollies are making me smile at the minute – they might be practical but by golly they’re pretty! Whoever you’re looking to spoil, a little or a lot, I guarantee the girls can help you find something perfect.
Before I head off to delve into a pile of Helen Moore’s faux furs, a quick thank you for all of your comments over on Instagram, they’ve really been making me smile. It’s so lovely to hear how much you’re enjoying the service at the store and the collections that are arriving as much as I am. So please, keep it coming! I’d love more of you to get involved on the Insta-grid, whether it’s with your comments or #friendsofagatha so I can see how you’re all wearing your purchases.
Must dash darlings.
Ta-ta for now,
Agatha x

A. Look Behind the Brand – A Postcard from Brighton
A very happy hello to you lovelies – how has another week come and gone since we last sat down for a gossip? And how is it nearly February?
January is finally coming to a close – thank goodness – and to celebrate seeing the back of a pretty miserable month I thought it was high time to show you one of the new features that will be making an appearance on the blog. Each and every month I’ll be thrusting one of my beloved brands into the spotlight. Not only to showcase what you can expect to see from them clothing wise in the coming months but also to give you an insight into why they have become part of the very fabric here at Agatha Boutique.
The first brand I want to show off, and the perfect cure for this gloomy weather, is A Postcard From Brighton. Known for its capsule collections of cool jersey and knits, these are clothes designed to be worn by anyone, anytime, anywhere. In short, you can always depend on APFB to dream up pieces which allow you to achieve that sought-after effortless look.
Owned by Mark Myatt, APFB is a canvas for crazy-clever designer Lainey Poulson. The duo have nurtured the brand for seven years and are now well known for producing clothes with loveable attitude which take you from day to night. So, no matter what you have planned, you can go from brunch with the girls or lunch with family through to cocktails and dinner feeling and looking fabulous.
Inspired by Brighton’s crazy, eclectic 24-hour culture – hence its transitional quality – APFB produces six collections each year so there is always something fresh to ogle. And, what makes APFB even more amazing, is that every garment is manufactured in Leicester – a stone’s throw away from our glorious city. It’s actually one of the reasons why I’ve stocked the brand for so long.
APFB closed 2017 with a winter collection starring relaxed animal prints, winter florals and bold statement slogan sweats. Always unique and unexpected when it comes to design, the next collection promises to catapult us into spring. I can’t wait for my first, eagerly awaited, edit of the collection to be delivered to the store – it should be any day now – but in the meantime, I have to admit I keep delving into the APFB lookbooks for some spring-spiration.
When it comes to the finer details of the spring styles, you can look forward to a sea of stripes in typically nautical navy, as well as a spiralling sketch-like print – bold prints combined with classic style is undoubtedly a APFB trademark. And it wouldn’t be APFB without splashes of colour punching in. I love the pink mixed material sweat, the sleeves are to die for! And, for paired back cool the black jumpsuit looks like it’ll be a dependable and stylish sartorial staple for many a wardrobe. Then there is the cute star-print mini with blousen sleeves – also available in a sweatshirt style too – and a spearmint blue printed sweat.
For keen Facebook goers, some behind the shoot snaps of the summer collection have been popping up too. A gorgeous floral print and polka dots, all in a rather nostalgic colour palette, which conjures ups the feeling of dreamy afternoons spent in the sun, have caught my eye. What do you think?
Any who… I’d best be off. I’ve been out and about buying this week, it’s so very exciting seeing what some of my favourites have in store for you all for the next few seasons. Keep tagging me on Instagram with your #friendsofagatha pics, and one last thing…don’t forget the countdown to Valentine’s Day is gathering pace! It’s time to get your gift on.
Ta-ta for now,
Agatha x

A. Whole Lot of Love
Happy Wednesday you lovely lot – January is just flying by isn’t it?!
Before I get stuck into this week’s chit-chat, I’ve got to quickly say a huge thank you for all the calls and messages the girls and I have received this last week about RIXO – the response has been overwhelming. I’m genuinely so glad that you are crushing on this wonderful brand as much as I am! It’s definitely got me loved up, and in the mood for talking about Valentine’s Day.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking… ‘it’s crazy early to even be thinking about that yet’ but hear me out. It’s just a mere three weeks, that’s 21 days, to go until V-day. Three weeks. That’s it. It doesn’t leave us much time to drop hints to the loves in our lives to pick up on, now, does it? Exactly. Plus, the sparkly new arrivals that have settled into the store’s jewellery cabinets really would make the most incredible gifts, not forgetting the beautiful bags and luxurious faux fur touches making the store sing at the moment.
In an effort to make it as easy as possible for anyone out there buying a gift in time for February 14th, I’ve selected three brands which have done the hard work for you. You could pretty much take a lucky dip when it comes to Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Helen Moore and come up trumps in the gift department.
First up, Vivienne Westwood. As a long-time stockist and lover of Westwood jewellery I shouldn’t play favourites, but the Leontyne range is one I adore. Available (in various combinations) in pink and rose gold, silver and black and gold, the earrings, necklace and bracelet are all dripping in little cubic zirconia gems. The detail in these pieces is second to none too. Just look at the earrings – the gorgeous heart fits seamlessly into the frame, with the classic golden orb sitting pretty in the centre. Delicate yet bold, any combination of this sparkling range makes the perfect gift.
Next up is designer Helen Moore with her totally luxurious faux fur cushions, throws and slippers. High end faux fur accessories are Moore’s calling card, along with a commitment to British manufacturing, with each piece being designed, made and distributed from the family-run business’s North Devon factory. Every cut is considered and every stitch concise, so you can be sure attention to detail is faultless with these products. I can’t get enough of the blush pink products, especially for Valentine’s Day. Of course, if pink isn’t your thing, the steel grey pieces make for great pressies too, and compliment any interior space no matter what your style.
Lastly, and by no means least, Ted Baker. This season it is Ted’s bold and beautiful Chatsworth Bloom print that’s caught my eye – and given the number of likes my Instagram post featuring the current window display received it looks like I’m not the only one! The colour palette is simply to die for isn’t it? The greys, the pinks, the greens, the ivory… divine. What’s more, this scrummy colour combo is compatible with Ted’s entire ss18 collection meaning you can easily pair the print with block colour pieces – the Jaymi bow waist wide leg trousers in luscious dark green are a particular favourite of mine. The Chatsworth print also features on Ted’s bags and purses. Whether you’re looking for a gift, or for that all import date night outfit, Ted’s got your back. A girl’s got to look her best after all and Ted does dressing up like no other.
Forgotten to get any stationary to pen your sweet-nothings into? Not to worry, pop in store and right by the reception you’ll find my selection of Katie Housley paper goods, such as the ‘LOVE’ card – made for last minute romance. Then there’s the gift wrapping service which you can make use of – you’d forgotten about that hadn’t you? Naughty. Available both with in-store and online purchases dress your gifts in my signature pink and black, it’s a perfect fit for Valentine’s Day.
Any who, that’s enough of my loved-up musings for one week. But while I have you, I’d love to see how you wonderful folk wear your Agatha purchases so please start tagging me in any Instagram posts with #FriendsofAgatha so I can have a nosey! And be sure to follow me too – you’ll find it’s where I post new arrivals, outfit inspo and some behind the scenes insights throughout the week!

A. New Brand for a New Year
First thing’s first, a very happy (albeit a tad late) New Year to you all! Typically, it was a season of over indulgence for me, but that’s what the festive period is for, right? Anyway, I’ve been chomping at the bit to get back to it and touch base with you all as 2018 promises to be a very exciting year.
Over the next twelve months some changes are afoot for the boutique – you’ll be the first to know, don’t worry – and the website, as well as what you see from me on Instagram and right here, on the blog. So, in an effort to start things off as I mean to go on I’m kicking off by introducing you to RIXO – one of the most talked about brands of the moment and the newest label to join our exclusive range in store. It’s becoming a go-to brand for A-listers and Instagram’s most stylish alike, a reflection of just how unique yet highly-wearable RIXO’s designs are.
Created in 2015 by London College of Fashion alumni, best friends and ex-ASOS buyers Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McClosky, RIXO embodies the two 20-something’s love for all things vintage. Now in-store – the first drop is to die for by the way – RIXO aims to bring back the best in by-gone British style to give women with great taste pieces they can truly cherish and feel fabulous wearing.
As well as bringing fashion-lovers a fresh dose of vintage-inspired designs, RIXO is flying the flag for distinguishable prints, hand-painted by the designer duo in the most fabulous colours. Add flattering cuts and luxurious silks to the mix and you’ll understand why I’m so excited! RIXO, in short, delivers contemporary, cross-generational collections which do not disappoint. And while faultless attention to detail, luxe fabrics and construction of the utmost quality ensure RIXO pieces have staying power, the girls’ vintage edit serves to remind all of us just how fun and accessible fashion can and should be. Each collection is designed to prompt us to remember that dressing-up can be daytime, floor-length can be casual and genuine style is ageless.
Muses include Jane Birkin, Patti Boyd and Kate Moss, so it’s no wonder that Henrietta and Orlagh see the RIXO woman as someone who is effortless, fearless and creative. RIXO’s celeb following has skyrocketed too with the likes of Rocky Barnes, Kylie Minogue, Heidi Klum and Holly Willoughby being spotted in the stellar designs.
Bold cosmic prints and intergalactic embellishments punctuated the first delivery which landed in-store last week and has been flying out the door ever since. So much so, that I thought I’d best introduce you to some of the ‘girls’ who will be joining me in store when the highly anticipated second shipment arrives.
Chrissy: With her clashing print, flared sleeve and irresistible colours Chrissy has it all. Midi in length and constructed in flowing jacquard silk she’s so flattering. Easy to wear whether everyday or for an occasion, Chrissy is going to be one of the season’s showstoppers, I guarantee it.
Anna: Monochrome, polka dot and with those bell sleeves, could Anna get any more beautiful? She might be one of RIXO’s simpler designs, but Anna’s round neck, fitted waist and chic length – finishing just under the knee – mean she’s a very stylish addition to any wardrobe. Make her yours by adding your favourite accent colour when it comes to accessorising. I’d choose an eye-popping red, but jewel tones work equally well.
Alice: Tying in to RIXO’s gorgeous summer print ‘under the sea’ is this coral starfish motif. Both fun and functional Alice cuts a sleek silhouette. The print does all the talking here, and why wouldn’t you want it to?
RIXO’s 100% silk, expertly crafted and infinitely wearable pieces join our rails at a similar price point to some of our flagship/champion brands – Ted Baker, Max Mara and PS by Paul Smith – so they’re far from unattainable, more aspirational. Having hand-picked each design to curate a bespoke offering for the store and you lovely people, I know first-hand that you’re going to struggle to choose what to take home.
Ta-ta for now,

MUST HAVE AW17 COATS
Once again, Autumn has snook upon us after another brief British summer time draws to an end. Whilst this may seem a little disappointing to some of us, in our opinion, what’s not to love about this season? Pumpkin spiced lattes, unpacking beautiful knitwear from our closets and a familiar seasonal appreciation for hot bubble baths once again. AW style is definitely one of our favourite times of the year to experiment with layering and an array of textures.
Finding a staple coat is absolutely essential to creating season long, head-turning looks and the perfect finishing touch to any Autumnal outfit.  Our unique and exclusive collection provides timeless styles at the highest of quality from a range of premium brands. We believe a staple coat is truly an investment and an essential edition to your wardrobe and considering we won’t be leaving the house without one for many upcoming months, it’s important to get the right coat for you.
To ensure you all stay warm in style this Autumn Winter, we have taken it upon ourselves venture out in one of Lincoln’s many beautiful, historical and characteristic venues to showcase 5 of this season’s staple coats for a little inspiration.
TED BAKER KIKIIE CASHMERE-BLEND WRAP FRONT COAT BLACK
This classically cut wrap coat is an absolutely timeless style investment that every woman needs in her wardrobe. It simply oozes sophistication and creates a look of effortless formality wherever you go with a beautifully soft wool and cashmere blend finish. (Available online and in store. Please click on the image for further information).
PS PAULSMITH BOUCLE COCOON COAT PINK
Be pretty in pastel pink this upcoming season. Our Paul Smith Cocoon coat is the perfect subtle injection of colour for your wardobe this season and suprisingly easy to wear too. Aside from the practicality of the item’s thick and cosy finish, it is a super quick and easy way to instantly make any outfit fun and interesting. We absolutely love the contrast of the playful pink coat layered over an all black, simplistic outfit.
(Available online and in-store. Please click on the image above for further information).
PENNY BLACK AGRESTE LEOPARD PRINT COAT BROWN
We  love this take on leopard print! Although the print is often associated with a bold look, this Penny Black version is an understated take on the trend and looks amazing layered over simple colours and cuts such as nudes, blacks, greys and whites.
(Available online and in-store. Please click on the image above for further information).
  BARBOUR QUILTED COAT
Much to our delight, puffa coats are officially back this year! The bigger they are the better and we have a beautiful range within our Barbour collection, available exclusively in store only. Much to our delight, these are definitely a practical trend as they don’t only look good, but they are also extremely warm and comfortable too (who says fashion is pain anyway?) Our silver finish Barbour version of this trend adds a subtle touch of glamour with this fur neck finish.
(Available exclusively in-store only.)
EMIN + PAUL PINK FAUX FUR COAT
We like to think of a fur coat as the little black dress of coats. Classic, sophisticated, effortless glamour that stands the test of time year after year. Emin + Paul are the first brand we introduce within our all new AW17 Brands to Agatha. This particular garment from their collection is definitely one of our favourites. This beautiful coat is available in pink, blue and rustic orange in store and is amongst one of the highest quality faux fur items we have come across.
(Available exclusively in store only.)
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to ask us in the comment section or pop into the store to get a closer look at these pieces.
  Thank you for reading!
Love
