Buddhism is the education of learning the Buddhas spirit. The Buddhist spirit emphasizes the mind. Disciples of Buddha refer to themselves as people who are learning Buddhas spirit and behavior.
A Brief Introduction to Buddhist Thought
One should visit a Buddhist temple with a proper and pious mind. Temples are places where one engages in spiritual practice. Temples are also places where Buddhists can cultivate more merit:
Always be respectful of others,
Try to be aware of stereotypes
Reflect on the Buddha’s teachings
Remain quiet when visiting temples
Basic Guidelines for Temple Visits
When entering the shrine room, a Buddhist practitioner may do three prostrations facing the shrine, or make a short bow with hands folded. This is done as a symbol of the surrender of oneself and the desire to benefit all beings.
Revealing clothing, such as tank tops, short skirts, shorts and the like may be inappropriate attire in some temple or shrine room settings. Shoes are removed before entering the shrine room and hats are not worn.

Messier Monday: The Ultimate Trip
"It’s easy to simply say thing like “oh, another star cluster” or “big deal, another globular,” but if you take the time to actually peer into, examine and learn about each one, you start to very quickly see how diverse and varied each type of object can be. That glimpse into what this Universe is truly like, and how the laws of nature and the particles that exist come together to form all that we can perceive is what science is all about."
After 110 consecutive weeks highlighting each one of the Messier objects, astrophysicist Ethan Siegel has completed a virtual online tour of the entire catalogue, with the greatest (publicly available) images and mosaics of each object available in a single, scrollable article. Time well spent!

This seems fairly accurate
I want to be in a position where I can observe everything that goes on, enjoy it in some way like a scientist enjoys learning things independent of the emotional quality of the thing (some terrible things still need to be understood), not be emotionally upset but still able to feel /something/ in order to have empathy with people affected, and to be able to have a clear head in order to think about what to do about a situation if I think something aught to be done. I’d like to be an Observer with an ability to change things but not having a compulsion to do so.

Heart Shield
A time will come in your life when you are terrified. When your life is on the line. When you are lost and wandering. When you face the surgeons knife. When death lurks over your shoulder. When you are amidst the chaos and pain of the world.
Do not be caught defenseless.
Here is what you do. You must build a heart shield. It starts with a phrase. If you are religious then perhaps a verse or psalm. You may use a stanza from a poem or a mantra. It should be a message of hope and strength. Incorporating a mala, crucifix, rosary, photograph, crystal, locket, stone or other small item of significance to you will add to this practice. This is a talisman but its only magic is in your faith in what it represents to you.
Now, armed with your phrase recite it over and over every day. As you do so arm yourself with thoughts of strength and also acceptance. Picture a scene of peace in your mind. A place of power for you.
When the crisis comes never plead with God, fate or fortune to be delivered. Instead ask God for strength. If you plead for deliverance this will open up the fear that you will not be delivered. Instead accept what may come in your mind and heart. Repeat your words of power. Take strength from them. Take peace from them. Do this and you will find what you need.

Quote
To oppose, brush aside, or deny pain in our body or mind only makes that feeling more intense. Our painful feelings are not other than ourselves, or to put it more precisely, they are a part of us. To deny them is to deny our very selves.

I love how the scary ass chunk of hematite I reblogged a while back, that reminds me of an old foe, shows up right after I post about The World. My friend reblogged it from my own alt blog, for which I was just thinking I don’t use much now but have pretty much consolidated all into this one. It posted automatically from my friend’s queue. That foe’s bane was hematite, and this looks like a chunk of dead flesh from a similar kind of monster. Interesting omen.
