Oh yall KNOW I'd be a Specter. I already look exactly, but not quite, completely unlike a living person. Beady eyes? Check. Grim pallor? Check. Gaunt face? I'm there. Slight levitation? Working on it.
My ass would be manifesting to give clues about my untimely death and then continue to stick around and make up details about other crimes just to drive agents up the wall.
Question for LockNation:
I know this is going to sound kind of weird (because it basically translates to how do you think you're going to die) but what kind of ghost do you think you'd come back as? If you'd come back at all, that is. Maybe a better question would be what kind of ghost do you want to come back as?
I, personally, would like to be a Poltergeist. No form, just vibes. And sometimes incredible violence.

GOd yes omg-- To the point of him third wheeling: that vibe is CAREFULLY curated early in the show and book series in order to make his completely unnoticed, slow, yet consistent descent into obsession with the bone mirror more plausible. Lucy's biased point of view works against us, the audience, but we are complicit in the same mistakes. He's supposed to be perceived as a minor character (particularly a comedic one) because as a result, the later realization- that it's precisely this treatment that leads him to seek solace with dangerous people and artifacts- is more emotionally poignant. Overlooking him is something we are led to do per Lucy's own flaws and then chastised for, which is really good storytelling.
To cast a person of color in this role was a really powerful choice. While it means he's boxed into some iffy stereotypes at first, the viewer is later told outright that this was a mistake. For the guy who's character arc is "You treated me as second string for ages, and as a result I'm now making choices for myself that you are threatened by" to be Iranian in a largely white country is a VERY different message than if George Karim was still George Cubbins.
I always accidentally fall into the trap of imagining Lockwood as this cool, tall, serious teen in a swishy coat, and George as the quirky, silly, “trousers are for wimps” when it’s kind of the opposite?
Lockwood who pretends he’s a blue whale when he drinks orange juice with bits, who had a weakness for big hats and wears silly disguises without batting an eye. Lockwood who reads gossip magazines and is awful at accents, and insists on wearing said long swishy coat even though he’s tripped over it on multiple cases.
Compared to George who is actually quite serious apart from when he’s drawing rude cartoons on the thinking cloth, who cares more about his research and a good meal than his appearance. George who considers solving The Problem his own personal mission, who’s very matter-of-fact.
Obviously Lockwood is very serious too, and George can be silly and sarcastic, but I tend to hc them wrong at first until I check myself and remember Lockwood is (affectionately) the more ridiculous out of the two.
