Who knew this could happen? A Black man could run the United States of America bring his brilliant and gorgeous wife along to be First Lady and they simply kill it. I am truly saddened yet full of gratitude, because if my President and my First Lady can do it sure enough we all can. Someday somebody will be speaking over your success, asking "who knew?" But for me I'm a just give them the Michelle mug...like you knew what it was 😂

This play was phenomenal!! Sunday was the last showing of "The Color Purple" on broadway. Just knowing someone wrote, produced and directed such a moving piece of art and Cynthia can sang, I literally get chills when I imagine how great God is that he allows our minds to create and manifest those creations #ThingsThatInspire #JustACreative #TheColorPurple

Dare we speak of such a masterpiece as the new Netflix hit series "The Get Down", executive producer by one of the greatest lyricist Nasir "Nas" Jones. After binge watching the first three episodes, I have openly admitted to my addiction. "The Get Down" takes us back in time to the late 1970's in the Bronx where hip-hop began. A time when Kung foo and disco were all the rave and famous late night clubs such as Studio 54 first opened its doors. This show sheds light not only on the history of hip-hop during the late 70's but also delves into the dirty underlining of politics and government professionals. The perfect blend of a tv show based around music and not just any genre but hip-hop! Telling the story of legend DJ Grandmaster Flash whom with out him the term "get down" wouldn't exist. "The Get Down" captures an essence in time where culture and poetry coincided and birthed breakdancing, mc's, DJ's, graffiti artists and today we know this as the hip-hop culture.

I totally forgot to post this but yesterday was the 30 year anniversary of Spike Lee's first motion picture-"She's Got To Have It". The whole film was in black and white and his grandmother gave him the money to fund the project and his father scored the film. Point is his family believed in him and most importantly he believed in himself. There has never been another film like this movie or any other movies Spike Lee has created. Side note my father probably shouldn't have shown me this film at 6 but he knew I was going to be a Spike lee head lol. #film #spikelee #spikeleejoint
