Okay... as a Sonic fan, I cannot recommend the Knuckles series. Sure, the plot's not good... but there's a much more disturbing reason: The Pro-Israel propaganda (Especially Episode 3).
In the episode, we meet Wade's (Knuckles' friend) family, and they (particularly the mother) make a big deal about being from Israel... they go really far with it. If it was just them being Jewish/it was only the religious traditions, that would be different. However, it is pointed out that the mother is from Israel, and the episode REALLY paints the country in a positive light. Considering the genocide Israel is committing in Palestine at the moment... it is clear why this is problematic.
In addition, they also compare Knuckles'/the Echidna Tribe backstory to Jewish culture (and even make a Holocaust joke) which is so wrong for so many reasons. As a whole, the episode made me very uncomfortable the whole time.
I am having a hard time processing the fact one of my favorite series did something like this. Sonic the Hedgehog characters, especially someone like Knuckles, would NEVER support a genocide... they're always supposed to defend those who can't help themselves. Yet this episode... seeing Knuckles connect with a person from Israel who's portrayed as innocent/inspiring... it feels REALLY messed up to me.
Also, Paramount delayed this series from late 2023 to early 2024... which makes me worried that this could've had something to do with it. Either way, please do not watch the Knuckles series. Especially without pirating.

for me the most heartening thing about this round of pro-palestine protests in the US is not necessarily their efficacy, but the fact that people are developing the strength of their convictions to not feel knee-jerk intimidated by accusations of antisemitism. i've been seeing a lot more examples of people powering through that sort of rhetoric rather than stumbling and losing heart out of fear. i don't think it can be overstated what a powerful silencer of criticism of israel the charge of antisemitism has been, and this (in my opinion, recent) widening in recognition of the insincerity of that rhetorical weapon is horrible news for zionists and a huge step in the right direction for the nascent opposition from within the imperial core.
it's only unfortunate that things had to get so bad in palestine for americans to reach this point. though in fairness, i think that's partly because it was too easy to single people out and intimidate/deplatform them when the numbers of vocal opponents to israel were any smaller than now.
i have to say it's somewhat cathartic to watch pro-genocide freaks return to the tried-and-true only to find themselves firing blanks with a confused look on their faces. you can imagine their internal monologue: "but it's always worked before!". support for their colonial project is waning, this cannot continue forever.
for our part, we have to be unapologetic in our calls for the eradication of the genocidal settler-colonial "state" of israel, which has proven time and again it has no right nor reason to exist. both for the liberation of palestine, and because the greatest threat to the safety of jews worldwide is not hamas, iran, global anti-zionists or any of the innocent people of gaza the IDF slaughters every day, but israel itself.

I'm curious
So to those of you who write stories or create characters in the Muppets universe, do you consider any Muppet Movies/series cannon events, or productions the muppets produced in universe??
Muppets Mayhem I like to consider as cannon events, but things like the 2015 series I think qualify as both (since they break up the episodes of that series with one on one interviews with the characters)
However, aside from the original Muppet Movie, I don't think I've ever asked myself if I consider any of the movies as cannon things that happened, or movies the muppets made in universe.
Asking because Walter is mentioned in parts of Hired Sparky, and I don't know if I should treat the movie he appeared in as something cannon that happened to the Muppets, or something Walter was hired to act in
#honestly I just think all the movies are just parts they act in#since the interviews for the 2012 and 2014 movie exist#just leads me to think besides the shows the movies are just acting parts#also I’m pretty sure Walter mentions Gary isn’t his brother in one of the behind the scene clips so yeah#idk it’s confusing lol
