acts of love
showing them an annotated copy of your favourite book
cheesy romantic songs that you want to scream with them at the top of your lungs
sipping hot tea, side by side whilst the weather storms
translating a passage to show them
sending each other photos of heart shaped things
exchanging playlists!
learning every fact you possibly can about them
handwriting letters to express your gratitude to them
making pressings of their favourite flowers and writing about them
be able to make their favourite drink perfectly because you know exactly how they like it

Why I love Anna Karenina ?
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” So begins the 816 pages long tale that brightened my two and a half months and will always have a special place in my heart. Before I embarked on the journey of perusing this masterpiece, I found out that it is hailed as one of the best novels of human history!! A huge honor now I vehemently believe it deserves. Let me tell you why:
Plot:
Of a few 100’s of novels I have read in my 17 years of existence, not a single novel I’ve read with such a brilliantly crafted, so close to reality plot. It’s just exactly how life unfolds. Just a perfect portrayal of humanity in all its shades and life with all its pains. The story of Anna and Levin’s life is so perfectly balanced and juggled like I’m really in awe.
Characters:
Very few novels, I reiterate, very few novels have characters that are three dimensional, that are so real that it’s hard to believe that they are, in fact, figments of author’s imagination. And the best part is even the most unimportant characters are explored in much detail so they don’t look like paper cut 2D statues in the background. They are as real as protagonists.
Narration :
I don’t know Russian and yet I experienced the genius of Tolstoy’s narration seeping through the pages I wonder how wonderful it would be to read the original text. When a scene begins, you are not a distant observer . You are thrown into the chaos as well as into the mind of one of the characters and reading becomes so fulfilling!!
Metaphors :
It had, without any doubt, the most ingenious and unique metaphors that were so relatable two centuries later!!! There was a scene where Vronsky comes across a painter and the painter really dislikes his passion for art and the example the writer gives is of kissing a plastic doll and acting like it was real lmaaoo
The Irony :
This really did the trick for me. The desire to be with your loved ones is universal but what if it comes at a cost? Although both protagonists unite with their loved ones, one’s life goes uphill while other’s goes downhill but it’s so well written that you realize this only after you’re done reading it.
Relatability and Realism :
It is a story drenched in realism but it still made my heart flutter and it still made me cry and laugh out loud and All characters were humans, in the literal sense of the word and I identified myself with each one of them in one way or the other and it was quite comforting to know that humans are always the same.Always.
“I think... if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts.” -Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

my favorite feelings...
drinking hot tea on a freezing day.
sitting outside alone at night looking at the moon.
going to bed after finally finishing an assignment.
getting an answer right and knowing things at school.
talking to someone about a shared passion.
listening to the song you need to hear in a moment.

The only reason you need to write a story is wanting to write it. You don't need a justification, an excuse, or an explanation. You just need an idea and a way to write it down.
What are you waiting for?

I’m writing a book
I don’t know why
Will people honestly want to read my mind?
It’s going to be about my life
My metaphorical thoughts
The days that I cried
But can’t explain why
And how I laughed so hard
Looking up to the sky
It’ll be my masterpiece
My blood sweat and tears
Because god knows I can’t seem to be honest with my peers
So I’ll just put it into a book and hope for the best
Because If I were to say it aloud I’d probably be under arrest
Today we are all open books
But what you don’t see is they are half open books
Because no one can be honest with everyone else
When they are not honest with themselves

once i realized i don’t need a special reason to dress up, buy myself flowers, take relaxing baths, buy something nice….. it kinda changed my life. sometimes you don’t need an excuse or specific reason to do something nice for yourself.
