William knows his strengths and weaknesses, as does his wife Kate

All the haters are so quick to believe that William is a bad husband and even go as far as comparing him to Charles as if they know anything. (That meme joking that Diana “snatched back her good looking genes after he started behaving like his dad” 🙄).

But these people clearly don’t know a thing about William or his relationship with Kate. If they did they’d know that William is the total opposite of Charles.

William made it clear to the firm that he was going to marry who he wanted and when he wanted. Charles never did this. His marriage to Diana was arranged by the firm because as the heir to the throne he needed a “suitable” woman (a virgin who can bear children who comes from an aristocratic family) to marry and produce an heir. For years William ignored the courtiers pressuring him to get married. He chose to get married when he was ready. Despite the palace trying to set him up with women they deemed suitable like they did with Charles, William chose a “commoner” to be his bride because he chose to marry for love rather than circumstance.

William has made sure that the Middleton family is included in their lives as much as possible. It’s not unusual to see the Middletons on royal estates and attending royal events. The Middletons are part of Kate’s life in a way that the Spencers were never able to be for Diana. And this is because William has made sure the Middletons are part of his family. Charles never did this for Diana. Diana was alienated from her family and felt very alone which contributed to her mental health struggles. William embraced his in laws and is part of their family just as much as Kate is part of the royal family. He refers to Arthur as his nephew and has been seen playing football with Kate’s brother. When William and Kate are on tour or have nighttime events the Middleton family typically are the ones who take care of the children. When Kate was pregnant and sick and needed help they went to stay with Kate’s parents instead of hiring a second nanny at the palace.

William dated Kate for 8 years before he proposed. They knew each other completely and built a strong solid relationship based on 8 years of love and friendship. Charles let the Palace pressure him into proposing to a woman he barely knew. As a naive 20 year old young woman Diana was in love with him but he wasn’t with her.

William gave Kate enough time to experience what royal life would be like before she had to make the commitment to marry him and be trapped in the firm. Charles never did this for Diana. Diana talked about how little prepared she was for royal life. She was thrown into it without support or guidance.

William has always shown support to Kate publicly. He’s always checking on her during engagements and is very in tune to how she’s feeling. He happily accepts gifts from well wishers on her behalf and has spoken about how proud he is of Kate on numerous occasions. Charles never did any of these things for Diana. He was jealous of her popularity and Diana said he never encouraged her or told her she did a good job.

William knew of all the things that Diana struggled with in both her marriage and in the royal family. And he’s made sure that Kate doesn’t struggle the same way. He encourages her to do things how she wants to. He’s not afraid to stand up for her to the firm nor does he tolerate anyone in the firm to disrespect her like Charles did with Diana. Diana talked about how the men in grey suits didn’t like her and made her life difficult. They were able to do this because Charles didn’t do anything about it.

There’s a reason why Kate has been able to handle royal life when other women couldn’t.

Yes she is strong, but so was/is Diana, Sarah and Meghan. The difference is what William did that Charles, Andrew and Harry did not do. William (not the royal family) gave Kate the support she needed to succeed as a royal. William gave Kate the time she needed to see what royal life was like before she had to make the huge life changing commitment. Diana, Sarah and Meghan have all spoken about how difficult royal life was for them, how they weren’t prepared for it and how it wasn’t anything like they expected it to be. Kate has never insinuated to experience any of these. And that’s because William (not the royal family) prepared her and looked after her and made sure she knew what she was getting into before asking her to give up her normal and private life for him.

That’s respect.

William has shown again and again to be different than his father. William respects Kate and takes care of her in ways that Charles never did for Diana. All you have to do is watch the engagement interviews to see how different William is from Charles.

Diana emphasized to William the importance of taking care of the woman he loves and protecting her. He also was a witness to the pain that Diana dealt with over her marital woes which included infidelity. This is another example of how the people who believe the cheating rumours don’t know anything about William or his relationship with either Diana or Kate and that these people believe anything they read regardless of the source or the (lack of) evidence behind it.

People like to make opinions based on body language. Well pay attention to how Kate and William interact when they don’t know the cameras are on them. It’s the time when they’re most affectionate. And when they’re in public they purposely keep their PDA to a minimum.

There’s a reason why William and Kate have been able to power through the constant scrutiny ever since they began dating back in 2003. It’s because they have a loving relationship based on respect, trust and friendship. They are a team and each other’s equals.
