There are some people who could hear you speak a thousand words, and still not understand you. And there are others who will understand — without you even speaking a word.

My dad was eating pistachios so I reached my hand out and he just started peeling them and giving them to me. Then suddenly went "I really hope you find someone who loves you a lot" and I went "enough to peel my pistachios for me?" And he laughed and said "yeah exactly" before carrying on giving me more

also would like to poke at the fact obviously nancy does grow in confidence as she gets older in her abilities as is reasonable but she also learns as she gets older that self doubt is dangerous because it means she hesitates and when nancy hesitates more often than not people get hurt. her instincts are very good, she’s very very good, and as in terms of people close to her saying maybe she should calm down and her allowing that to wonder if they’re right, when she’s older she doesn’t ... pay as much mind to those things, and it isn’t that she doesn’t value their opinions or value them as people but nancy’s had very real instances where doubting what she felt for a second had big repercussions. i think really it’s not about a dimming trust in her friends but a growing trust in herself

something something nancy’s sense of responsibility that she gets kinda ragged on for ft. knowing in her bones from a young age that if she relaxes or isn’t fast enough and something happens because of it that’s on her 🧍🏻♀️

nancy resides in ny with an absurd amount of secrecy to her address in mv but i like the vibe of down the line moving the base to chicago (which im aware is not a groundbreaking idea given the closeness to river heights). she leaves river heights officially in terms of where she lives really wanting a solid break and I think at that point chicago is a little too close to home, but down the line when she’s at a place where she’s had the chance to really branch and sort of misses the comfort of river heights <3 chicago era <3

[ TEXT - ❤️🩹 ]: ???
[ TEXT - ❤️🩹 ]: I’m sorry, since when does the great Nancy Drew give up on something she wants so easily? Did you take another blow to the head?
[ TEXT - ❤️🩹 ]: Talk to him.
[ sent: ned nickerson ] i did take another blow to the head, but I believe it’s unrelated
[ sent: ned nickerson ] it’s not about giving up
[ sent: ned nickerson ] it’s about not being selfish
[ sent: ned nickerson ] can’t we agree it would be that to decide the moment he starts dating is the moment i need to say something?

❛ if this was the last time you were ever gonna see me, what would you say ? ❜ @cluecrue as ned nickerson
it won’t be the last time she sees him. there’s a melancholic air between the two, still. wounds that aren’t yet healed, time and space nancy hates having to give but has been trying anyway. she’s not a person of patience, but she knows that ned is owed her very best. it isn’t like nancy doesn’t have places to go, the world is big and it’s her ground to walk comfortably. she’s been taking cases, she’s settled into city living. she misses how things were, reasons with herself that it’s just hard to let go. she spent so long clinging to familiarity.
besides, there’s no clear divide between the past and now. nancy’s best friends are still her best friends, hannah sends care packages, river heights will always beckon her home.
it’s not like nancy would say no, but intruding on the small pin of the country she’d designated as ned’s right now wasn’t her intention. it’s a consequence. nancy’s the best, neither of them can expect people around town to go runner up tjust because they’re broken up now. it went fine, anyway, the case was actually pretty clear cut once she poked holes in false alibis.
she leaves again tomorrow.
they’re seated on her porch. it creaks where she shifts. there’s only one place she can look to that may offer an honest answer. she could map out ned’s features with her eyes closed. the twitch in his lip a second before he gives in and meets her gaze. ❛ i never could’ve been the person i am without you. it meant a lot to me, you being there, i know i didn’t always make it easy. id hope you already know i do love you, but it bears repeating if this is the last we’ll be seeing each other. i love you. i’m sorry. ❜
