everyone always wants to know what country i would base a pokemon game off of if i could make one but that is my twisted little secret. if i could make a pokemon game.... there would be no region.... it would all take place in one city
Y’ever read something and have understanding that has eluded you interminably suddenly stop, curl up, and snuggle neatly into a fold in your brain because a new way way opened to it?
In 5000 years it won't matter what books you read or what ideology you followed or the cool friends you had. All that matters will be the scraps of clothing you wore, the permanent markings on your body, the surgeries you had, and the method of preservation of your corpse.
we still get immediately shoved out of our immersion in tv shows or films when The Girl find a dead body and immediately shrieks - we just don't find it realistic because we're pretty confident most people would gasp rather than shriek (i.e. sharp inhale rather than sharp exhale) and it also feels unnecessarily (and predictably) misogynistic too, as men encountering corpses almost never do the same on screen
also of course please do tell us if you've actually encountered a corpse unexpectedly, because tumblr is absolutely a place where some people have done this thing and we love a good anecdote
suddenly imagining "burst into song" as a potential response
"People assume that in the 50 years since the first Earth Day we've made no progress. That we're in a worse position now than we were in the 1970s, that there's no point in environmental action," [...]
Quite the opposite is true. Climate-friendly advances that would have seemed impossible even 10 years ago are now commonplace. And three times in the past 50 years humanity has faced--and fixed--massive, man-made global environmental issues.
The fight isn't won yet, but don't forget that we have made enormous progress.
We would be in a much, much worse position if it wasn't for all the incredible work of environmental activists who came before us, most of whose names and contributions we will never know. They are the reason that we have a fighting chance now, and we owe it to them to pick up their banner and keep running.
enough with the wind pollination. stop releasing your microgametophytes into the air like some kind of fucking chump. grow up. either form a mutualistic relationship with some animals like the rest of us or go back to proper alternation of generations with water-mediated fertilization like a real plant
